  1. I'm on pins and needles myself!....all those excited people yelling SURPRISE!! .....and guns and stuff....
  2. It matters to a celiac-savvy doctor who knows what the symptoms of gluten intolerance are kiddo. If you do not get any help from this guy, time to move on.
  3. It's because they are taught in medical school that celiac disease is a disease of malabsorption in children. That's just not the case. So, people go all their lives being diagnosed with various other AI diseases and conditions and being symptom-treated (for things like arthritis, psoriasis, asthma, heart disease, thyroid disease, GERD and "IBS", reproductive...
  4. or.....how about being told you're too fat? then again, when I lost 90+ lbs. in a short time, it did not matter either.
  5. Plus he only took 4 biopsies from one section....how about looking around a little , doc??!! My doc says you have to do it from various sites. I heard the HOUSE thing for 3 years myself. We don't need HOUSE. This isn't a mystery to us. Gluten causes all these problems. Do what Prickly suggests--get the DH biopsy then. DH IS celiac...
  6. There are no valid statistics for the number of blacks with DIAGNOSED Celiac because this kind of archaic thinking leaves many people undiagnosed! Read these, honey and maybe send them to this GI: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Not only was his comment incorrect (the majority of celiacs are of European descent, yes) but the...
  7. O M G Where is THAT stated in the "diagnostic criteria"?? What rock did this tool crawl out from under?? What an ass hat. Wish I had been there when he said that.......
  8. I left my two cents on your blog: Thank you for writing this, Scott and for refusing to let them advertise on Celiac.com I cannot understand any organization looking out for the welfare of those with gluten intolerance (Celiac or NCGI) endorsing this product as safe. The very term "Kitchen practices may vary" makes this entire concept a joke. Can you...
  9. probably not all those wee ones and all
  10. I am so happy to hear that things are going better for you, hon. You were having a rough time for a while. . Good for you!! Going out and enjoying the company of others is what life is all about. We need to be careful, yes, but we do not need to be secluded. Hang in there. You're doing GREAT! It gets better every month that passes. In...
  11. Melissa, I admire your fearlessness while traveling. Nice tats, too. I only went 1500 miles away from home for the first time since recovering from years of being ill with Un-Dxed celiac disease and I found it just a little intimidating. And I stayed within the US and had access to non-squatty potties. I got hit despite my best efforts...
  12. thanks for that head's up. Someone gave me The Story of Edgar Sawtelle a few years ago. That was the WORST ending to a novel! I was actually pissed off for days over that one.
  13. The Poisonwood Bible was a fabulous novel. The Bean Trees was very good. But, I have to admit, I'm slugging through The Lacuna like it's molasses. Not ready to give up just yet. But I have been known to get even 200 or more pages in to something and decide I can't take it anymore and just chuck the whole thing and sometimes, just one page...
  14. You could try this. I subscribe to this mag and their recipes are usually quite good. Happy Birthday to your hubs! Open Original Shared Link
  15. I will pass this on to friends who may use this brand. I hope you find a replacement food for Maggie, hon!
  16. .........and there it is. but "they say it's gluten free!!!!" I was wondering how this would impact the people who would have to deal with enthusiastic but clueless co-workers who think this is "a great idea!!". It didn't take long for your post to show up.
  17. Could be it just did not agree with you? pepperoni, sauce, etc? Sorry for the tummy ache! We use the CHEBE's brand. Not gritty or funny tasting at all. Maybe you can give it a try?
  18. I figured maybe you were on a news delay!? what do you think about all this?
  19. yes, the OP says the same ovens. Same everything. ....never....see my rant **
  20. Excuse that mini-rant I just get tired of the baloney.
  21. I'm with you, Karen. Can't seem to get people to understand the following: Gluten FREE eating means Gluten FREE. FREE of GLUTEN. ENTIRELY. It doesn't mean "maybe, kinda, sorta" It doesn't mean dabbling in it or "gluten lite" it doesn't mean 4 out of 7 days and on holidays we take breaks. It doesn't mean use non-gluten grains, but...
  22. Hey, I'M about 4 hours away ....whattaya say you pick me up and we go get ourselves a big ass filet and some spring rolls.... Thelma? signed, Louise
  23. Frankly, I wouldn't eat a domino's pizza before DX. But even if it were the only available gluten-free pizza on the planet, the CC issue makes it totally off limits to me. Just using an alternative flour does not make it a safe "gluten free" option. People just do not seem to get that part.
  24. Before you give up, please try this loaf. We enjoy tasty sandwich bread all the time. My hubs makes this bread every week. It never falls and it tastes great. Gluten Free Sandwich Bread (adapted from the Gluten Free Girl) Ingredients 2 cups white rice flour *****NOTE: For variety and higher protein/fiber, substitute 1 cup garbanzo...
  25. That book got a great review. Please let us know what you think?
