  1. In the beginning, anything may cause you pain and discomfort. I could not eat brownies or any sweets (even from flours that were not BRM flours) because my gut was so impaired. I was nauseous and having bowel issues for MANY months post DX and I was as gluten-free as can be--our home, too. No gluten around me, no eating out and we made everything from...
  2. Celiacs actually have immune systems that work on "high". We ward off more germs than the average joe. A peck on the cheek should not be an issue, hugging should not cause you harm, but if brother-in-law or Uncle Bob comes at you with a slobbering tongue after a beer, well, that's a whole 'nuther issue and not just because of the gluten. As for...
  3. Hon, I would never, ever go to something like that and not bring my own food. Or eat before I went. Or both. Huge CC factor--and all you had left to eat was some fruit and alcohol? Time to assemble a "to go" kit!!
  4. Fantastic! This beautiful girl just hit it out of the park. This is what I was trying so hard to say. Kids come in "all packages" but they are gorgeous anyway! I would have given anything to have had one, no matter what "special attributes" she had. Life is to be LIVED, no matter what we are dealt...and life is one big giant rollercoaster, so enjoy...
  5. Here is an example from the Cyrex website: "Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors Leading•Advancing•Promoting Toronto, Ontario November 12-14, 2010 Case Study Results Show Importance of Array 4 Testing Reaching across the border, Cyrex Laboratories traveled to Canada for the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors (OAND) convention and...
  6. It's up to you if you want to pay for "tests" that have no scientific or peer-reviewed studies to support them. We have discussed this cross-reactivity thing on here MANY TIMES. No proof, no evidence to support it. (there is a study about dairy and cross-reactivity that was done, that's it) He is selling a product. He's a chiropractor. He's a high...
  7. Hey, how did you get your hands on that video of me?.....they said it would not be posted on youtube!!! That chick is SOMETHING!! Rock on, sister! My parents danced like that. Elegant. Graceful. sigh. I dance like that, but hubs....er, does not. Two left feet. He says, you do all the work, babe. So, I dance around him. That's...
  8. So Delicious coconut ice cream saved me when I could hardly eat anything (when I was just starting out after DX). Great stuff. And dessert before dinner is my favorite way to start a meal.
  9. Gawd, M---this sounds fabulous.... I LOVE mango...I love vodka....I LOVE GREEK anything.
  10. Same here. Gluten/celiac caused depression and anxiety. Being gluten free brought "me" back. The anger over the lost years and all the physical pain and multiple miscarriages and other ramifications of celiac I still deal with?...well, I am working on that. I look at it this way. Life's messy and we are often dealt some pretty horrible things that...
  11. Another idiot "doctor" ....I had no idea my horror for 3 years was me "being trendy"....I said my peace about this to gluten dude.
  12. A doctor calling it "trendy" and "easy to address" is exactly what's wrong with the way celiac disease is perceived by the medical community at large. I hope she was inundated with irate letters from celiacs.
  13. This is what got me all "hot under the collar" as well.
  14. I agree!! if you cannot make your own, this one is awesome!!!
  15. No domino pizza. No way that is okay for a celiac.
  16. someone on that FB page wrote: " I didn't know that symptoms of Celiac's disease included being extra complainy" (it's gone now) You ass hat. A woman who says she has celiac disease said: "I can eat small amounts and not notice anything, so this is great". One more: " To all those people saying "What's the point?", not everyone...

    ARCHIVED Sad :(

Hang tough, sweetie---you're going to be okay.
  18. I know it's tough at first, hon... and you are RIGHT, they do not have to say Rye or Barley or malt...but if it is NOT listed in the ingredients, then it is probably not a problem. Welcome to the Board! Hey, have you seen my "Newbie 101 Thread"...it has all kinds of info that I hope may be helpful.
  19. sounds like a recipe for fun to me ... (although I am more of a Bombay Sapphire COLD and up, (so FREEZING cold so the glass shivers) kind of girl. Have fun, girlfriend
  20. That's why we have the "truth in labeling" law, hon. If it contains wheat, it has to say it on the package.
  21. Celiac Disease is not "curable" ---but it is TREATABLE with a gluten free diet. It's not "back again"--you never "lost it". You put your symptoms into remission on a gluten free diet. You put gluten back in, you start the autoimmune response again. It's in ALL THE MEDICAL TEXTBOOKS and JOURNALS--- which she obviously has never read. Listen...
  22. Does it say "contains WHEAT" anywhere on the label? They have to put that there if it does, hon.
  23. "Low gluten" or "Gluten light" is NOT GLUTEN FREE. Anytime a celiac ingests gluten, it triggers the autoimmune response, whether you have explosive & immediate diarrhea or brain fog for three days or sores appear 2 days later or NOTHING. I personally, had a whole cascade of symptoms last for 3-4 weeks from trace CC. It's still causing damage...
  24. me too. Won't let me read it.
