  1. It was a beautiful day here, too. And oddly, I also made meatloaf, smashed potatoes (as we call them) and fresh green beans. Must have been a meatloaf kind of day on the East Coast ....
  2. Sorry, Moose I hope you have a quick rebound. Maybe you will skate through relatively untouched. Fingers crossed. Drink lots of water, hon.
  3. Power to the People!!!
  4. Hon, you keep saying "celiac disease is back again". Celiac never goes away, you have it for life. If you "had been gluten-free for 16 years", obviously you were doing well on the diet, right? your symptoms were in remission ..but something has provoked these symptoms to return. Sorry you feel bad. I had anxiety from gluten too. I hate that feeling...
  5. the best part is....I hadn't even had it yet when I wrote that  My excuse is a pulled muscle in my right shoulder. I keep kitttig the wronh keyss/
  6. That's where I'd start. The one who told you it was "IBS"--well, go back and say, but I have all THESE symptoms too. Bring a LIST. Then ask, could it be celiac?
  7. Please read this explanation of the differences between: gluten intolerance, wheat allergy, and Celiac disease Open Original Shared Link
  8. well said... and Amen, brother. Everyone should use his/her best judgment, of course, but I am with PricklyPear, if it says "processed in a facility on shared equipment with WHEAT"-- I do not eat it, but that's just my preference. If it says "CONTAINS WHEAT", now, that's a given. (and just for the record,FWIW, this thread is old ) and...
  9. Pesto pizza and cucumber salad. Hubs is golfing and he gets home late. I am GLAD he goes every Friday; it's my excuse to eat PIZZA and have a glass of pinto grigio!!
  10. Well, sweetie, just do not eat it. But if you want to soak in an epsom salt bath, go for it. It helps to relax muscles. That's it. Try to relax. A "glutening" sucks (in plain English ) but it passes, literally and figuratively. You're going to be okay!
  11. Lots of water, double up on probiotics for a week and rest. Sorry you got "hit". Even sorrier you had to deal with a dipstick who does not take you seriously. (hug)
  12. oh, I WANT one now.....honey!!! I want this dog...come lOOK!!!!!please, please, please.... (I'll let you know if he goes for it ....)
  13. Plus, it's easy to inhale it when spraying it or have it run down our faces when sweating, so it is a very good idea to check. You never know what might cause the itchies, either. I read the label on the sunscreen recently, too--for this very purpose. Hey, thanks for doing the leg work for us, K.
  14. Thanks for this info, K. The "skeets" are in full force already here.
  15. Just think of gluten as rat poison. Is a little bit of poison okay? nope. "Gluten free" means making your diet and home as FREE from cross contamination as possible. Here are a few links that discuss what is suggested regarding cc issues. They explain that YES, you need a separate colander, cutting board, toaster and you should not use scratched...
  16. I know this is off topic, but I have to say it: Your dog has the most adorable face! OMG, what a doll!
  17. Thank you – She's my girl! :)

Hubs went totally gluten-free with me about a month after my DX. We did a major clean out of all the flours, cookware, bakeware and donated our bread machine, etc. This was not easy as we had perfected our homemade pizza crust and artisan breads. Bummer. He felt it was insane for us to have 2 toasters, 2 mayos, 2 Peanut butters, 2 cutting boards...
  19. Will do, honey! I have you in my thoughts.
  20. I have no clue whether all of our various maladies and illnesses are related to celiac, but it sure seems as if they could be. I had something my doctor called "virus X" in high school (which means he had no idea what it was ) I missed a month of school. I was covered in red itchy blotches, I was exhausted and had bouts of nausea, vomiting, a hacking...
  21. You are very wise to wonder about such claims.
  22. I'm not disputing you got sick all the time and I am not saying that celiacs do not catch colds or have sinus infections. Not at all. I am not suggesting that people not take precautions when around people who are sick. I am just relaying something I have read many times in medical articles and books--that our immune systems are not compromised and we...
