  1. Okay, I will plus it to make it neutral and Karen will plus it to give it the plus you wanted in the first place. Is it Beebs' post? Okay? okay!
  2. Where was it? I could plus it up for you. Cute bunny, BTW. I love bunnies!
  3. 2 cows are talking. First one says: "What do you think about this mad cow disease? I hear it can affect your brain." Second one says: "What do I care? I'm a helicopter."
  4. Hon, if for some reason Dr. G can't take you because his colleagues are unwilling to do that, there is another good celiac doc. His name is Dr. Peter Purcell. He is in Schenectady, I believe. Whatever you do, please do NOT go to Upstate Gastro in Troy. They left me unDXed for 12 years. Call on me if I can help in any way.
  5. No. Absolutely not. Wheat, barley--sprouted or otherwise. Nope. Tastes like cardboard anyway. blech.
  6. Actually, I was the one who suggested she ask for a different doctor in the practice because he is MY doctor and he is the best and not one of the "old guard". I am not so sure he would just back him up as you suggest. He is more enlightened than most. If she waits to see another doctor in this area, she'll be waiting about 2 months AND remaining on gluten...
  7. Now, I have to think, analyze and think again, to insure it's dissection won't be too painful. And yet, I still don't get it right. Now that's not right, I'm sorry to say. It saddens me, terribly. Sometimes words expressed, are hiding the brokenness we have all felt at times in our lives. We should respect that more when we choose to respond and lighten...
  8. catty bored women  sounds like the drivel they call "daytime TV" Hurrah!! Another voice of reason for the fold! Welcome, kiddo!
  9. (IH claps hands enthusiastically) You achieved a 3! AND light and fluffy. Holy mother of pearl, people ....It's a major breakthrough! Geez louise, ours is set at 8! Guys, this thread has the makings of a research article or a news story. Can't you see the PubMed title or hear those headlines now? "Significant data collected indicates...
  10. Filets, baked potato, steamed asparagus. Simple.... but only because I spent the afternoon making a cake! My first gluten-free cake since DX. I've done pies, cookies, muffins, brownies, rolls, bread, pancakes, and a ridiculously outrageous flourless chocolate cake...but no layer cake yet. I felt like a challenge this afternoon. I used my...
  11. Please, please ask to see Dr. G in the practice!! This guy is no help to you. PM me--I think we should talk on the phone, hon.
  12. I have the same horrific muscle knots known as trigger points(everywhere) and I lost massive muscle mass from celiac malabsorption. I have joint/bone pain, too and weakness. I am rehabbing my muscles slowly and it is grueling and painful. But I can at least lift small weights and walk further distances now. I BURN all over. Before I figured out it was celiac...
  13. you bet.
  14. smart chick! The trick is for the reader to be able to differentiate between what is the "norm" and what is "unusual" in people's experiences. You are wise enough to know the difference, obviously. --(although the real trick, Aly-- is to put the B-12 tabs in between your toes, not in your bra! ) And you are so right---there is still much to...
  15. If the doc does not take the POSITIVE Celiac blood work seriously, tell him you wish to see another doctor in the practice. Don't be afraid to speak up, hon. I'm thinking of you and I hope you get the answers you need.
  16. Sounds good. I am thinking I am still not ready for too many prepared foods, just yet ....but I'll keep it in mind. Thanks for the tip!
  17. An additional thought--- because this part of your post has been overlooked. Offering advice based on experience is helpful, yes. And someone should qualify it as such--"this is MY opinion and it worked for ME kind of thing." Offering information from various internet sites is a different issue altogether. A credible source may be helpful...
  18. Oh I know, I lost mine, too for a while....just a flat, painful, weak pancake. I could not sit or lie down or walk comfortably for 3 years. No joke. The doctors had no explanation and suggested a scooter to get around and to take drugs. I said that's not an answer...what the hell is CAUSING it? (well, we know now) My sitz bones, gluteals, sciatica, piriformis...
  19. ...well, you have one already, hon-- otherwise how do you sit??---or did you mean you want "some junk in your trunk"?
  20. This is a rather "general" post to make, but I am guessing that something in particular has upset you that has prompted this topic. For the most part, the people on this forum are generous and encouraging, but if someone has been overtly rude or otherwise has violated board rules, you can always alert a moderator via PM to the situation. Otherwise...
  21. Glad you are feeling better!! YAAY!! Keep doing what you are doing. I am so happy the Digestive Enzymes and Probiotics are helping! You really had a rough road. As for future testing for celiac, it will not give you a valid result if you are not eating wheat or gluten products, hon.
  22. Adult? responsible? bah! I'm neither of those. Wow--chocolate tapioca --you ARE on to something.!!!! Yes, one good thing about not being a child is...no one tells us what to do! I have some tapioca pearls in the pantry.....hmmmm
  23. You sound familiar! I am in a similar position, 53 at DX, a year gluten-free now, a devoted gluten-free hubs and a gluten-free home-- and a gluten-free cafe for me to eat freely a few times a week and not stress over CC issues. I was understandably anxious and fearful at the beginning, having been seriously ill for so long and in horrible burning joint/bone...
  24. Good plan! oh, if the phone call with him is FREE, I shall be very surprised. Keep us posted!
  25. You used this sentence in your post: "Celiac is mind over matter." Now, I KNOW you meant: "(living successfully with) celiac is mind over matter" because you explained your ability to overcome the fear in your mind. Reading your whole post makes it self-explanatory. So those of us who responded to your post here took it as meaning the way...
