  1. Beautifully said, Skylark. .....or like teachers about some students....or parents about unruly kiddos.... It's all just harmless venting and soon, those newbies will be here venting, too...because they will be the "veterans"
  2. oh no you didn't  Celiac wrapper it is then!! Time for me to go get busy.....made my first gluten-free apple pie yesterday and it was delicious (if I say so myself) Notice I said was? Hubs and Mom and I "sampled"...twice.... Happy T-day, Karen!
  3. you liked that wise and gracious thing, did you? I am so full of it sometimes I do this too!! Bread-less sandwiches. Cheese, meat, spinach leaves, a long, thin cuke slice, red pepper .... I just do not know what to call them ....some call them lettuce wraps, I know. The Earl of Sandwich wanted the bread "press" so he could have all his food...
  4. Good for you! Isn't it amazing to be "normal" again? This is what I would tearfully say to my hubby---I just want to be "normal" again. I want to be "me" again...that "lost in space" thing for 3 years was torturous and frightening....but, now I'm baaaack!!! Yes, our kitty is gluten-free too...(as all pets should be, I think)her coat is gorgeous...now...
  5. Got your message...Happy Turkey Day...there's lots to be greatful for...especialy now that I know what NOT to eat!!! LOL

    see ya around!

  6. Thanks. The Irish people are the most accomodating and hospitable and I felt an eerie connection to the land. I was at peace. Hard to explain, but it sounds like you "get it" (and it's a very celiac-friendly place to live!) You never know where life will lead you and.....That's the best part!!
  7. Good luck and keep us posted! We care!!
  8. Good for you!!! Enjoy your new life sans gluten. Gluten does not make us happy. Gluten is poison. I say... Gluten is my kryptonite and Supergirl can't fly when krytonite is around. Happy Thanksgiving to you, too!!!
  9. Okay, you got it, diaper face super girl. Good thing we have senses of humor, eh kiddo? Saves my butt every time. Saved me from swan diving off a cliff when I was so sick for sooo long and did not know why.....
  10. Just the ones that run free and sit on my porch. We have 7 acres...lots of animals for me to observe and call "mine" I love all animals, too! NERDS are us!!
  11. If she's having a positive response to "wheat-lite", maybe she should "go all the way" !! Just My humble opinion!! If there had been no change, then it's not about the wheat. A positive response = gluten sensitivity. Imagine what would happen if she avoided it completely. Can't hurt to try it!
  12. In our 50's, we are wise and gracious enough to know that their intentions are always good, even if they make a "boo-boo." Bless 'em. Had a similar situation when my friend said to me last Spring, "Well, couldn't you just have the sandwich, but without the bread?" and I said "yeah, but what would I call it? and would I mayo my hand??" She said "OMG...
  13. That is cool, isn't it!! I LOVE your username because I LOVE bunnies. I have a ridonkulous collection of bunnies (porcelain, furry, glass, wind-up, marble, even an embroidered pillow a friend made with bunnies on it!) and best of all, wild ones all over our property. I was going to be "rabbit" when I came on here, but it was taken....
  14. You're not a nerd--you're adorable! Besides, I like nerds I could not lose weight for over 10 years. No diet worked and I tried valiantly. I would joke "My metabolism is in a coma" The celiac triggered and I dropped 90 lbs. without trying and I became emaciated and weak. What the heck was going I wondered? Now, I know. It's funny, but my...
  15. They are gluten-free as far as I know, so you did nothing to feel guilty about, hon! I am sorry he feels so poorly, yet I wonder...are you sure that was what made him so ill? There are so many things that could be CCed. In any case, do not beat yourself up. Things happen and children get tummy aches and illnesses that have nothing to do with gluten exposure...
  16. Thanks so much! This safe haven of mine is called Sherry Lynn's and it is in upstate NY in Latham. It's the only totally gluten-free bakery and cafe. (I posted earlier with that story) Yesterday, I had a carrot cake cupcake with buttercream frosting and it was the BOMB!
  17. Well, it DID when I was still UnDxed...maybe I am less sensitive now. Not sure. All I know is, the bakery and the baked goods aisle in the market made me feel ditzy....er, I should say ditzier ....I was pretty ditzy the 3 years prior to DX. I had/have MANY neuro symptoms. Not fun. So, I asked my doc if it was possible to feel this way from airborn flour...
  18. Oh yes...anxiety, depressive thoughts, fog head, agitation, C or D---and insomnia. Never fatigued. Totally opposite my personality--wound up like a clock. The worst symptom is the ramped up nerve pain and bone pain. I am on FIRE. Awful. I drink a lot of EXTRA water to flush my system, take some extra Vit. C, extra probiotics and I have used activated...
  19. Thanks. Sounds as if two of you have had good luck with Chipotle. There is one about 45 minutes from me. Maybe I'll give them a try. I'll tell them exactly what you guys said. Until now, I have only eaten out at the gluten-free bakery/cafe near me--owned by a celiac--and that's all they serve--gluten-free all the way! It's heaven!!
  20. YOU GO, GIRL!! I will support your efforts 100% You're making a wise decision!!! You can do it!!! It has no power over you. The price of cigs now?? Totally outrageous. You could save what you would have spent on them and go on a vacation! I quit cold turkey 18 years ago. Now the smell makes me feel pretty oogey. yuck! Here's the...
  21. Thanks, Trish times 2! It is the first birthday since 2006 that I am not sick and in a gluten headed daze. Hooray and pass the gluten-free Bday cake....
