  1. EXACTLY. Thanks for sharing that. There may be something causing us a problem, but it is not necessarily gluten. I listened to some well-intentioned people on here when I was DXed and started questioning EVERYTHING. Why did I still feel so bad? was it gluten CC??? Nope...I was STILL SO SICK. My entire GI tract was a burning mess. So, lots...
  2. Well, you go, girl! Hooray for you! Anything we do to regain some semblance of "normalcy" after being ill, in pain, itchy, broken out or having blistery skin that peeled off (yup, my scalp peeled for a year before DX & I lost a lot of hair) is a step in the right direction. My good friend with DH suffers so much, that poor babe. I had horrible...
  3. We could say that about any food we eat, couldn't we? We can't know. So what do we do? Not eat? Realistically, not everyone can grow their own food. Not everyone has the money, the physical capacity, the back yard, the right growing temperature. Some people live in flats in the city or in senior housing. We have to take some leap of faith...
  4. Glad you're feeling better, kiddo. Y M B a C if you totally understand when someone is feeling out of sorts because they don't feel so hot....
  5. Sounds good!!! I have always loved Asiago cheese. Used to make pepperoni and asiago puff pastries that were a big hit. I have done without my beloved cheese for 10 months. I had homemade pizza last week and it "sat fine" :>) I was soooo happy to have that treat back in my life. Time to test the waters a bit more....
  6. When you hit reply, the little box of emoticons should be on the right of the box you are typing in? Ok, move your cursor over and click on the one you want ...okay watch me now, ready, moving my cursor over and click see, there it is! There is no exact science because no one studies the impact of celiac on the muscles, joint, bones, tendons...
  7. uh huh .....Ain't that the truth, sister! and rooting out the culprit is just oh so much fun........
  8. Really? I have never heard this before and I am curious why. What do gums do to people with gut problems? Is it like a "laxative"?? But wouldn't you have to consume a LOT of it to cause a problem? (Actually, I would think psyllium husk powder is really pretty abrasive for people with irritated GI tracts and should be avoided, especially since it requires...
  9. Thanks, Marilyn! These sound yummy and I do love garlic knots!
  10. awwwright!!! you rebel, you! So proud of you!
  11. Me too! Fresh is best---when I can grow them myself or buy them at the Farmer's Market. I dry mine and use them all winter. McCormick's brand works for me as well. And hon, there's no need to be "paranoid too much" about such things. You just make yourself nutsy for no good reason. A separate facility is as good as it gets.
  12. The only sub I know of is guar gum.
  13. RoseT, my friend Among my many supps , I take curaphen and a really good bone formula with MSM, cal/mag/D , glucosamine, etc... AND manganese and boron is in it as well. How much--in your opinion-- is enough of these last two? Do I need to add more? Thanks, hon!
  14. Yes, but I know you all are quick....How lazy of moi, I know....My Mom was here for a week and it was my first THX since 2006 that I was NOT SICK (YAAAY!!) and I was a hostess once more and I am a wee bit tired today. whew. eating pie and being lazy
  15. Y M B a C.... if your GI doc is on speed dial.
  16. Yes....Charming, compassionate and often, life-saving. It's where I came to read and learn and all the pieces of the puzzle that I was came together.
  17. Gosh, you sound like me a few months ago. So sorry hon. And yes, we do get "used to it" (some ask me how the F*** I stand the pain I live in. I do not know--- as it is not fun at all.) I remain hopeful it will resolve.
  18. I could not agree more! Same for me!!! My cousin says if I were Native American, my given name would be "She Who Sees Celiacs Everywhere" (much like that creepy little kid in the movie who sees "dead people" )
  19. That is AWESOME!!!!!!.....Dr G. is sooo getting this for Christmas....
  20. I believe they do in Italy. Very wise.
  21. Hon--- are you SURE you are not getting CCed somehow??? Also, has this area been X-rayed???
  22. My Gramma's old Victorian house had a root cellar for cold veggie storage and a freezing cold pantry off the kitchen for her produce, flours, drying herbs, etc. I thought those two things were the neatest places for hiding when playing hide and seek with my cousins. They were also the first family on the block to have an "ice box" in the 1920's. Not...
  23. How incredibly generous and sweet of you to post all of this information!! I'm bookmarking it for future reference. Thank you!!
  24. From what I have read, if you go through your flours quickly because you bake frequently, a storage jar is okay for a couple of months. Garbanzo bean and almond flours spoil rapidly, though. May want to keep them in the fridge. We don't get through ours fast enough, so I have to keep them in the fridge. And yes, they take up a lot of room I may need...
  25. Right back at you!! Please let me know how you are doing and what the new doc tells you. Best wishes.
