It is highly unlikely you are being glutened by passing the plate at church or walking down a bread aisle, hon. Maybe people's perfumes, lack of fresh air, a tummy bug ---or something else is making you queasy. "Airborne gluten" usually refers to flour that you can inhale and it goes down your throat, into your gut. That's how a gluten-reaction occurs...

Pizza with potato, fontina and white truffle oil. It is so simple, but tastes so ridiculously good. I'll be traveling to see my Mom, family and a few friends in New England for several days. Thank God the peeps I will be staying with are all G F Having lunch with my friend and fellow c.comer, Gemini on Sunday. My first solo trip since 2007 (when... -

Yes, everyone's pinkies are shorter than the other fingers, but if you look at the picture, see how they come up halfway of the middle segment.? I guess most people's (the ones I have examined anyway--lol) come up to the first segment. Now, I am probably going to start staring at people's fingers and getting asked "what the hell are YOU looking at... -

Oh, that sounds like heaven in the mouth!! We're having Greek salad in a wrap (because I have so much chicken and feta cheese and grilled veggies to use up) with a side of fresh corn (and because it is a bazillion degrees outside and I ain't cooking!) Going out to do some pool exercises and get all hot and stuff. . -

oooh, yeah, that possibly food-flavored recycled water is a "non-rog" when doggies are around Sorry, kiddo. -
Some docs suggest removing dairy for the first few months after Dx because --as Karen mentioned-- lactase, which digests lactose is produced in the tips of the villi. Once the tips of the villi grow back, your ability to digest lactose returns.(in the vast majority of celiacs--some continue to have lactose intolerance) The only way you would know you...

ARCHIVED How Do You Explain Brain-Fog To People
IrishHeart replied to djs89's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I described it to my hubs as someone dipped my brain in vaseline. I felt like I was walking in a dream sometimes. My vision was affected. I could not drive--poor reflexes. I could not comprehend new info and had to stop reading my books because I could not concentrate long enough to understand a paragraph. Messed up the checkbook often. Forgot how to cook... -

I am so happy to be able to work out again (it's been YEARS!) and I suggest going slowly at first. Protein and good carbs and water. I am so delighted to have muscle tone again. I had ZIP...almost atrophied. But it's getting better and better. Good luck, hon!!! -

I took his post to mean he ate those things because those were the only foods he felt were safe: produce and unprocessed meats. I was not commenting on his ability or inability to cook. If it is a "cooking thing", well, there's no time like the present to learn how to cook. It's not rocket science. Tons of easy peasy recipes for simple, good meals... -

Actually, . TBOLT said he only ate produce and unprocessed meats. To me, that is extremely limited and I said perhaps he feels deprived. (he came back and said I used the word, not him) Yup, that is true. I just answered his post and explained you can eat more than produce and unprocessed meat as a celiac and do some creative cooking. (There... -

"conspiring" is your word, not mine. I know you do not really know me very well or my experiences with doctors, otherwise you might know my sarcasm by now. But I assure you, my feelings about the AMA are legit. This is the not place for me to tell you that sordid saga, but suffice to say the majority of members reading this thread know what I said... -
ARCHIVED The New Celiac Drug Is Out There
IrishHeart replied to gatita's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yup, that was my word all right because "unsatisfied" to me means "deprived". I eat heathfully and I venture way past produce and unprocessed meat. I do not eat processed foods either and I was just offering some thoughts for you to widen your menu and satisfy your palate. .....but you keep doing whatever you feel is best. As always, anything... -

I could eat a Greek salad every night and not complain. YUMSTERS!!! I wish I could cook my butt off, too. Anyone who says "I went on a gluten-free diet to lose weight"...isn't truly one of us. Hey, we could do all of SKI's dishes and work off some butt- age. -
ARCHIVED Is Gs Really In Our Heads?
IrishHeart replied to ChefV's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
"At this point, scientists simply don’t have a good explanation for the mechanism and prevalence of gluten intolerance............ Maybe people have always been gluten intolerant and were going undiagnosed—as is true with celiac disease." well, at least those two sentences have some thought behind them. The rest? meh. Another person with an opinion. ... -

It was delicious. I was not ignoring you, sweets....I simply could not get on the site. Some computer glitch and I did not want you to think I was being rude. I did answer you via email, but you may not have seen it yet. And, I seem to have rallied from the bites, their treatments and I was going to say all's well, except the hubs got a tick bite too. Epidemic... -
