  2. That's cuz yer a boy. well, there are "rewards" and there are "rewards", little brother. some of us like "applause" when we are newbies and still "learning" and some of us like tangible thingers......like maybe I dunno, ... a shiny bracelet, sorta thingy.....just sayin'
  3. ahem....er, um......she could also be a lot "happier and relaxed," shall we say? when he is around, if you get my drift just sayin.....
  4. hang in there, kid. The gluten-free diet is not a quick fix, I'm afraid. It took me 15 months post-Dx to turn a corner. I am NOT the norm, however. I was very ill at diagnosis. Most people take @ 4- 6 months to see symptom resolution. One day at a time. That's all you can do and that's the honest truth.
  5. agree totally! Any day is a good day for a new kitchen gadgy, right, sweets?. My fave place Open Original Shared Link

  10. I had GERD, I had shortness of breath, anemia (three types--iron def, B-12, folate) I had adult onset asthma --given an inhaler (my brother has had asthma since birth and mine was not like his) and I had weakness in my legs, etc etc. You name it, I had it. Not kidding. Here's the thing, everyone----All of this can very well resolve OFF GLUTEN. Inflammation...
  11. If your EKG is normal, it is quite possible it is from being ill from the celiac. I suspect it will regulate. If not, see a cardiologist for an ultrasound of your heart to make sure. I wore a holter monitor many times throughout the years. Never could determine what it was causing my erratic beats and thudding heart. My mom was the same. They said...
  12. My heart races from gluten exposure. Does your heart race constantly?
  13. A few marbles set up against the closed door of the medicine cabinet works. Better yet, hide a porn video somewhere. It may shock her, but even cooler would be if she takes it home with her.
  14. This article explains the study done that shows the increased incidence of celiac in the US ---from the blood samples taken during the 1950's. Someone mentioned this study earlier in the thread. Open Original Shared Link It also discusses "modern wheat" as a "potential culprit" . This article is from 2010. The research is ongoing. "Dr....
  15. I do not think she's flaky. I think she's eccentric. (I want people to use that word for me when I start doing these things as I age--it sounds more cool) Hon, I do not like people poking around personal things--that's just rude--but otherwise, she seems harmless and if anything "a nervous nelly" who needs to do things with her hands. As long as you...
  16. amen ...and dear girl, perhaps our mutual soap box is a bit crowded, but we manage to share the space and spread the word and I'll continue to do so for as long as I have breath. P.S. Hope you are enjoying your well-deserved summer vacation..
  17. I agree completely. Not checking for foods that are certified gluten-free will continue to gluten you. Cross contamination is serious business. If you have celiac disease, you really need to stop glutening yourself. You are constantly poisoning yourself and fueling the inflammatory response and that is why you do not feel well. Best wishes.
  18. The more you tell us, the more you sound like me--and Nicole---and so many other women on here. The heavy bleeding, the anemia, etc. Hon, give it some time to turn around. Check the B-12, folate and Vit D levels when the labs come back. Those deficiencies, along with a Vit K deficiency can also cause bruising, but eating green leafy vegs, broccoli, brussel...
  19. and don't I always say this? what's the point of worrying, you just get wrinkles and who needs those? yes, I do!! You should see me now, almost 3 years post-DX...I look like I have been to a plastic surgeon...wrinkle free!
  20. A few questions/suggestions: (1) No more take out from Chick-fil-a --because take out from fast food places is not "real food". (2) Is the oatmeal certified gluten-free? (3) Do you eat any leafy green veggies? (4) do you take probiotics? (5) are the grits also Certified gluten-free? (6) cheese binds you up when the gut is impaired...
  21. Candida is touted as the "scourge" of everything wrong when someone has gut issues by alternative med practitioners. (I know, they told me I had it too--I did not). Do you have an obvious yeast infection??...i.e. a white, thick, icky discharge from your vagina and in your mouth? If not, you do not have Candida Albicans. "systemic yeast overgrowth...

  23. ok, sweets..good ..now, just stay the course. Every day...is a healing day. I promise. big hugs, IH
  24. It's the attack of the mint plants !!!..... arrgh!!!! LOL holy crap, girl ....we could be making a fortune (if mint plants were a huge commodity) I have used the various mint leaves for all the things you listed....so, geez louise ...what else can we do? LOL I may just start cutting off big ole limbs of it and giving it to the local farmers...
