  1. Exactly. He sounds like a thorough doc to me. He is starting by ruling out active celiac disease first with the antibodies test.. Glad you are in good hands. Good luck.
  2. I'd laugh but it hurts to jiggle. Gimme a Frosty. STAT
  3. Nate, That's how celiac testing works. Your recent results reveal that you have the disease in check. This is a very good thing. You want normal levels. This is the goal! You were diagnosed with celiac because you had elevated levels of antibodies that indicate an immune reaction to gluten. You went gluten free and your gut healed. Follow...
  4. and now, (because of course, there has to be something else) I've got the mother of all sore throats. wth? I never get this kind of sick crap. waaa Hey, can someone please come over and make me a Frosty thinger and some snickerdoodles..?? cuz I'm pretty sure .those would make my throat feel better ugh, back to the chair to vegetate like a zombie. ...
  5. J's Tomatoes have blight. He is very sad. Poor guy--worked so hard on them. Babies them. Every year, we have so many we have to give them away to the neighbors, the local nursing home kitchen staff , the church food pantry that serves daily lunches to the homeless, even Sherry's cafe. I mean, we are blessed with abundance. Same with the apple trees...
  6. DH is the skin form of celiac disease, hon and the treatment is the same: G F diet Some people use Dapsone for it. Check out the DH section on the forum for helpful tips.
  7. well, we know it's best if I do not have them in my hands.... Terrible migraine last night and today, shoulder pain, just ugly...why does this happen? whothehellknows! Going to see the PT/MT and see if she can work her magic and get me out of spasm. errg. So tonight's dinner will be as simple as it gets, Bison patties with garlic mayo maybe...
  8. I have tried Histamne, which is similar.I did not notice them as being very effective, I'm afraid. I have a histamine intolerance, and honestly, the best way to knock down the level of histamine in your body is to avoid the foods that are highest in histamine levels. Then, after a few weeks, try one of them and see how you feel. Eventually, you will...
  9. me too. And there are some I know who will never, ever get it right. My dear friends who have done this successfully took the time to read up on CC. They passed a "label reading 101 class" the hubs and I gave them lol. and (1) They all got pretty-colored flexible cutting boards from me as a "gift"--used only when I come to dinner (2) they check...
  10. maybe this will help? hang in there! https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/
  11. try probiotics yet? getting enough fiber?
  12. I reintroduced dairy at about 9 months. I was quite ill at DX and I took an extra few months before trying it. Most celiacs can tolerate dairy after 3-6 months , some never get it back and some, never had to give it up at all.
  13. And you can tell people in your life how to prepare food for you safely. I did it ---and it worked out well.
  14. Read this: Open Original Shared Link I take: Open Original Shared Link and my gut health has been the best since I was ...well, born. I am 56 and at DX, nearly 3 years ago, I had no detectable good gut bacteria That is "impossible" said the GI doctor. All human guts have a balance of "good and bad guy" bacteria. I had "IBS" and "GERD...
  15. ahem! I will add, just to clarify what my dear girl Gemini has said. ....people with high IQs ...who are also "gluten headed" and not yet, following a gluten-free diet....lack common sense. "cuz I have lots o'common sense: and my IQ is "purty good" and I have met many "academians"..with big IQs who were about as street smart as a new...
  16. Kiddo, You can live a "normal" life....it's just the "new norm". I eat out now. I go to weddings, etc. I even dine at friends' homes--they learned about CC and they cook for me. I watch them and I help and all's well. Life is good. It's still early in your recovery. Hang in there. Soon, you will see what we are saying. I promise. It will not feel...
  17. The same reason any of our relatives think it---that giving up their bagels, breads, pizzas and donuts is a fate worse than death and more horrible than the constant pain they suffer from their various AI diseases, GERD, "IBS" diabetes....etc. They would rather symptom- treat, eat their gluteny foods, remain obese and out of breath than give them up....
  18. Some celiacs, like me, get a rash and oozey little blisters from gluten exposure that is not classic DH. My GI doc calls them "gluten rashes". Some people get rashes from OTHER foods or from plants, etc. How long have you had it? and..(I see Ski has asked this too...great minds lol
  19. I had serious B-12, vit D and folate deficiencies. I was able to turn them all around after a few months of gut healing and appropriate supplementation. Whatever you guys do, don't over-supplement without knowing what you really need. Despite what some people say, you can flood your system and there can be consequences. I had burning neuropathy from...
  20. I agree.....and as you know, I marked 2 years by swimming with dolphins. (hey, what can I say? I have a lot of kitchen gadgies, so.... I thought "bigger"? )
  21. Ah yes,....the healing process. It’s the mother of all exercises in patience. It is so damn slow sometimes and it is not always a straight line and we all (understandably) become frustrated and discouraged. Believe me, I get it. I’ve cried enough tears to float the Queen Mary. I was so sick that I thought death would be easier, but I refused to believe I c...
  22. yes, maybe you are not exactly a "newb" after all. my bad for using the phrase" newbie" in this case. I only meant it with mother- hennish affection. Sometimes, I honestly still think of myself as being a newbie when I learn something new about this disease process. in any case, I think you should most def reward yourself in any way you like...
