  1. someone gave me some hershey kisses with the cherry center flavoring. I have no label or anything to know the ingredients. Does anyone have information on this? thank you!
  2. the only way I could stop is to stop. If I ate them, I wanted more, no matter if I ate a little or a lot. The cravings and the inability to feel full or satisfied never goes away if I have gluten. Quit cold turkey, that's the only way.

    Update

today is going better. I still have occasional pain in the right side but it's not too bad. Stools are much softer and easier to pass. Very slight blood today. I finally feel like the severe constipation is leaving. So much so that I almost feel empty and light headed. I hadn't realized how constipated and bloated I'd been feeling until now that it...
  4. my thyroid was checked. I'm hypothyroid and have been on synthroid for many years. Unfortunately it did not help my C, only gluten free has.
  5. ahhhh, I think the worst has passed. It was not a very pleasant night but I finally got some good hard sleep. My stomach is a little tender this morning but not bad. I don't have all the anxiety and depression either this morning. I drank a low carb slimfast so I could take my medicines but I dont' want to push it too much with food. I'm making ham...
  6. I'm so glad I found this thread! I was so stupid yesterday and ate pasta and bread. All last night I thought I was having a heart attack. I had upper g.i. gas and pain, pressure under the ribcage, severe bloating. I felt horrible. It even messes up my sinus and I get fuzzy brained, the works. I was feeling better earlier this afternoon but this evening...
  7. This sounds just like me. I could not find "full" for anything! It was nothing to eat 3 or 4 bowls of cereal, then make several slices of toast. I was eating low fat and everything was wheat products. I felt horrible too and gained so much weight, because of the celiac and also the massive amounts of food I was eating. My appetite changed dramatically...
  8. Ok, BIG note to myself: DO NOT EAT GLUTEN EVER AGAIN! geez, I'm so uncomfortable tonight. My stomach is so trembly, crampy, tender feeling. I had a softer stool, which was nice, but was accompanied by more blood than usual. Typical from my wheat eating days. It feels like I have an anal fissure again because of this. My muscles in my back are...
  9. Much better day today. I have had the anxieties associated with gluten exposure but my tummy is feeling a little better. I have inward tremblings and definite muscle clenching. I also feel a little bloated and constipated but I'm eating very well today so that should disappear soon. I had fish, shrimp and a huge salad for lunch and dinner tonight...
  10. BamBam and others, While I'm very sorry you all are going thru this, I am VERY glad to know it's not "just me". I can tell when I have gluten because I get so anxiety-ridden and have depression. The thing that drives me nuts is I get anxiety over things that normally don't bother me or possible events that normally don't even cross my mind! And then I...
  11. Constipation was my biggest symptom. I also had stomach pains, weight gain, and sometimes rectal bleeding (sorry). Going gluten free is the only thing in all my life that has helped the constipation. I can tell if I have been glutened if I get constipated. One thing that gives some immediate relief is to drink hot tea slowly while relaxing, or hot coffee...
  12. I have that problem when I have gluten. When I"m gluten free, it goes away. Part of that is that when I have gluten, I get constipated and then, as others have noted, hemorrhoids appear. I seldom have itching but sometimes have a swollen, tender feeling in that region.
  13. I've been so busy the last few months. Son has been busy acting and that means a lot of road travel to and from rehearsals and performances. I was doing good on diet but today ate very stupidly. It was so cold, we went to Star City Parade and FROZE! Afterwards we just wanted something warm so we went to Buzzard Billy's and I got shrimp fettucine alfredo...
  14. I did about a year ago. For a month or so I felt better than I had in years, but then fatigue hit me hard and I had some blood sugar problems. I added in meat and felt so much better. I really needed the protein. I'm now trying to get back off meat and eat a vegan diet. I hate eating a lot of meat and I'm eating some beans and things like that. I still...

  16. I am doing MUCH better on the paleo diet and I am losing weight, slowly because I'm on prednisone right now but I am losing. I have more energy, my stomach feels so much better on this, my blood sugar has leveled out and even my rheumatoid arthritis is feeling better. I am really sold on this way of living.
  17. I had that and a few months later was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. joint pain, ridged nails, are both symptoms of ra. I also cracked a bone in my foot just walking. Also from problems with ra.
  18. unless you eat meat and cheese exlusively, there's no way to eat "no carb". Every fruit, every vegetable has carbs. I don't know of anyone who would recommend or eat a meat and cheese only diet.
  19. This is a topic near and ..not so dear.. to my heart. My son went into convulsions when he was 7 after eating a school lunch of high carbs. He spent a couple days in the hospital. That was 9 years ago. He recently saw the dietitian after another horrible blood sugar crash (big growth spurt combined with too many carbs for a couple of days). I also was...

I'm doing well lately. I've been on the road so much and it is hard to eat well when eating out. I am finding that if I stick to the same restaurants, the waiters and waitresses are all getting to know me and know I don't eat gluten. I eat a lot of seafood and salads. I got a cortisone shot in my knee in April and that helps to be able to exercise. I...

Wow, time has gone fast. I had no idea it had been so long since my last entry. Diet has not gone well this month. I've had some side effects of prednisone and I felt terrible and didn't really care what I ate. I'm paying for it now. I'm off prednisone now and my appetite has all but vanished. It's all I can do to eat one meal a day. Yesterday...
  22. Ursula, thank you for the specific foods you mentioned. My dr. told me last week to follow a similar plan of avoiding nightshades, grains, dairy, legumes, etc. I'm not sure exactly what that leaves me to eat but I'm hoping to feel better with this. I thought it might be impossible to do but your post shows that it is indeed possible!
  23. I wonder if that's what I've got right now. I got glutened this week and I have these little blistery bumps on my breasts and tummy. I also get them on my arms sometimes. They itch like crazy. Ann
  24. mine are much lighter and shorter since gluten free. thank goodness. I had times when I was anemic they were so bad!
  25. dairy and gluten do this to me a lot. If I stay away from both, I don't have this problem. I also get a lot of pain in the right midsection when I have dairy or gluten. Ann
