ARCHIVED Stadium Nachos..glutened?
Austin Guy replied to CajunChic's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The server might have also handled hot dog buns or something else that cross contaminated the chips -
ARCHIVED Which Symptoms Healed First?
Austin Guy replied to BarryC's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
For me everything buyt the bloating started healing quickly. My migraines and bleeding disordere were gone within several weeks. Fatigue was gone quickly as well. -
Have you heard the rumor that you should not drink from a plastic water bottle after it got hot? Supposedly a substance leaches into the water and makes people sick. I just learned about BPA, also known as bispheno-A. It is a substance added to some plastics to make them hard. I had been using a plastic water dispenser for several years and every day...

ARCHIVED What Foods Besides Gluten Foods Set You Off?
Austin Guy replied to 3bears2's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
In order of the worst symptoms: soy, peanuts (both legumes so I hesitant to try other legumes), eggs, dairy. -
ARCHIVED Needing A Little Input
Austin Guy replied to beth01's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Could have been the carrageenan (thickening agent) in the almond milk or the potato. Patatoes are members of the nightshade family and give some people, including me, a lot of grief. Might want to look these up. Look at Dr. Weil's take on carrageenan. Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED Rudy's Not Gluten Free
Austin Guy replied to virginiagl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I eat at Rudy's amd fine if I eat only the meat. Can't do the slaw as it contains eggs and can't do the sauce as it contains fish. I just had turkey and sausage from there today and feel pretty good. -
ARCHIVED Girlfriend Making Me Sick And Dont Know Why
Austin Guy replied to deals88's topic in Super Sensitive People
I can't remember the university, but there was a study done about how long allergens transfer via saliva after eating. It was determined that someone kissing a person who ate something the other person is allergic to can remain in saliva for over 4 hours after eating, flossing and brushing teeth. So gluten may be transferring to you when you kiss your girlfriend... -

ARCHIVED Odd Findings In Toilet (Help?! - Warning, Gross)
Austin Guy replied to Waitingindreams's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Have you heard of steatorrhea? It is excessive fat in the stool. I experienced a lot of that before going gluten free. -
Did you also bruise easily and have you experienced tiny, pin prick like bruises? I had both along with nosebleeds pro=ior to getting off gluten. It was an immune disorder called idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura or immune thrombocytopenic purpura. Look up ITP and see if it fits.

ARCHIVED Reaction To Omega 3 Capsules
Austin Guy replied to FruitEnthusiast's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I had a problem with tuna and fish oil capsules. It turns out that most canned fish and meats contain broth which contains soy and I react strongly to soy. Regarding Omega 3, try chia seeds or chia capsules. They are loaded with Omega 3 oil. -
ARCHIVED Need A Source For Amaranth
Austin Guy posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Anyone know where I can buy bulk amaranth that is not just gluten free, but also not processed on lines that process soy and tree nuts? -
I got sick after having a Starbucks coffee. I think the girl putting the lid on my cup contaminated it after having handled pastries.

ARCHIVED Meat Allergy Caused By Tick Bite
Austin Guy replied to GFinDC's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I recently found myself getting digestive problems after eating venison, then I noticed it after eating beef. I found the tick articles and put it together. I'm in central Texas on 4 acres and must have picked up a tick without realizing it. There are specific sugars in red meat and pork that cause an allergy in some people bitten by the common lone star... -
I find alcohol to be very irritating to my digestive system so I stay away from it. It fires up the leaky gut very quickly.

I was frustrated with lip balms as they all seem to contain soy, which I am intolerant to. I was going on a skin trip in lake February and bought some Carmex after I thought I researched the ingredients well. For the following month I had a lot of GI distress and bloating. It was OK some days, mild on others and pretty bad on other days. I finally did...

ARCHIVED Fructose Malabsorption Worsening
Austin Guy replied to Austin Guy's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Benadryl knocks me out, which is OK for nights, but not during the day. Have not tried the others yet, but I will. Sorbitol is an unknown for me. Thanks for the great info. -
ARCHIVED Fructose Malabsorption Worsening
Austin Guy replied to Austin Guy's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Skylark, good point about gut flora imbalance. I will start researching probiotics. I just today figured out that the generic loratadine I've been taking contains corn starch and fructose, both of which get me. I can't seem to find an allergy medicine that contains nothing that I can't tolerate. That includes gluten, soy, fructose, dairy, eggs and corn... -
Since going gluten free 9 months ago I have identified a number of additional foods I cannot tolerate. FM came into the picture as well. However, I don't remember FM being so problematic until I cleared all the other foods. I have had the healthiest gut over the last month since kicking coffee and corn, but anything with even a small amount of fructose...

ARCHIVED Heart Palpitations/ Tachycardia
Austin Guy replied to peeptoad's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I used to get tachycardia before going gluten free. When my heart would return to normal it would also skip beats from time to time and it felt like it was compressing extra hard at times. I've had that only once in the 9 months after ending life with gluten. My blood pressure and resting pulse have also dropped a lot. -
ARCHIVED Friends Purposely Glutening Me!
Austin Guy replied to Victoria6102's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Your friends must know someone with a food allergy or they must have heard of a peanut allergy. Ask how they would feel if you snuck peanuts into the food of someone with this allergy. Here is an analogy that also must help. Describe how a fish gets oxygen. Water passes through the gills and the fish gets oxygen from that water. What would happen if... -
ARCHIVED Allergies Diminish After Awhile?
Austin Guy replied to Blue-eyed bandit's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I could hardly go outside during spring and fall allergy time, but have not had a problem after going gluten free. My headaches, terribly runny nose, constant sneezing, red and itchy eyes - virtually gone. I have not tried nuts or salmon yet as they produce an anaphylactic response and that terrifies me. -
ARCHIVED Corn - The Under-Researched Grain
Austin Guy replied to Nannu's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I just posted this in another place, but I had to give up a vitamin C supplement and a multi with C because most vitamin C is corn based. Any supplement that states it has vegetable based magneseum stearate of stearic acid is probably also corn. I missed these for a long time, but my bloating, gas and D have stopped since giving these up. -
ARCHIVED My Husband Doesn't Get It
Austin Guy replied to eborzecki's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I just tell people that I have multiple severe food allergies and if I don't prepare it, I don't eat it. People don't understand celiac or intolerances, but they understand allergies. -
ARCHIVED Calling On All Veteran Celiac Posters
Austin Guy replied to TTNOGluten's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I found out a few months ago I was intolerant to corn, but until recently did not know that most vitamin C supplements are made from corn. So are magnesium stearate and stearic acid that labels state are derived from vegetable sources. Once I figured this out and quit supplements containing these I finally felt better.
