ARCHIVED My Doctor Is An Idiot..
shadowicewolf replied to CourtneyLee's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
oh hun that had to suck. I hate people like that (and would seriously consider filling a complaint). Before my diagnosis i was at 180lbs (eeek) and it was when i suddenly dropped 20 that a new doctor who examined me (went about 7 times at this point, was getting kinda po'd at doctors misdiagnosing me, and such), was very concerned about that drop and... -

If you can't take vitamins, can you change what you eat (ie: veggies that have the vitamins that you need). -

I'm going to be a bit picky on these two (no offence ). I agree with most ADHD cases, where that it is something eviormental (ie: Food). But in other cases it isn't (thus why i think its overdiagnosed). Aspergers, on the other hand, has nothing to do with diet (again, misdiagnosis could be more common here). As someone who has both, it just... -

^ along that same thought line, Could you try and get an 'official' diagnosis? Sometimes people are more willing to listen with one. -

ARCHIVED Weight - What Is Normal?
shadowicewolf replied to rain's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Well, you are getting older and with age comes weight I lost about 20lbs before my dx (which was somewhat a clue for my doctor) and i've lost another 4 since starting this diet. I've heard it can go both ways. -
I have that issue, except it isn't related to gluten sadly Its part of my other 'host' of problems. I'm hoping once i get fully on the gluten free diet (as i have been for 2 weeks) it will mellow out some. It stinks really really bad ><

ARCHIVED Most Severe Reaction Yet...
shadowicewolf replied to JenHarris's topic in Super Sensitive People
benadryl asap and get to the ER. Allergic reactions are not something to mess with, i nearly lost my mom to one this past summer (benadryl saved her life according to doctors). She ended up with 3 days in ICU and one in a normal room. -
ARCHIVED Reaction To Stitches And Medical Tape
shadowicewolf replied to lolipopins's topic in Super Sensitive People
3m makes a tape like that. I use it a lot of the time. Try finding out you are allergic to it when you had a mole removel gone wrong (doctor at the time took stitches out a week early (there were 6) and poping open in the middle of class), having to try to seal it with butterfly tape and being told to keep it bandaged and at the same time finding out... -
I've had this weird skin condition for about 8 years now. My skin is often covered with these pus filled sores (only on my arms, sometimes (though rare) on my upper leg and chest), similar to a mini pimple (gross right?). Some will 'evolve' for lack of better term into large cyst like this, painful and everything. Not really scratchy during the day, but my...

ARCHIVED Weird Menstrual Cycles?
shadowicewolf replied to hannahm's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
i must be lucky then, my period is somewhat normal, tho it comes like every 21-25 days but my doctor isn't too concerned about it. Its always been like that for me. Heck before i got diagnosed my doctor joked that while the rest of me was going to pot, my period was normal and that was very good. -
ARCHIVED 3 Subjects: Organic, Shampoo/cleaners, And Facilities
shadowicewolf replied to KuKuKaChoo52's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Are there any shampoos that are mainstream? I normally use tresseme but after reading the lable last night... i kinda got spooked? I've had scalp problems for years, and maybe that is the source. I think dove is gluten free, but i'm not sure (its the only product i can use on skin due to very sensative skin) Is degtergent really important to... -
ARCHIVED I Feel Like People Are Irritated With Me...
shadowicewolf replied to Jenn624's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Try being in college where all of the on campus food easy grab stuff is things you can't have. I was walking past a group that had pizza hut personal pizzas and i was just about ready to die right then and there. I wanted it sooooo bad, but decided it was not worth it, which lead to me thinking i could make my own even better so Yeah it stinks. My grandmother... -
ARCHIVED Distended Belly- Need Help Please
shadowicewolf replied to suziq0805's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Well thats good to hear . I read a story once where a little boy had the same issue except he had really bad C all his life. Turns out part of his intestens had no vili (or something) to keep the movements moving, thus the poor boy couldn't go for the life of him. Fortenently they were able to fix it by removeing the section that wasn't working (off topic... -

ARCHIVED Annoying Friends!
shadowicewolf replied to Victoria6102's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Some are just plain idiots that only care about their own wants and needs Just ignore them. They aren't worth the time spent coming up with something to say back if they are going to say such things. Don't let it get you down hun! Can you bring this up with your youth groups leader? Perhaps letting them know whats going on will help, better yet... -

ARCHIVED I Might Be An Idiot, But I Am Desperate...
shadowicewolf replied to Dee777's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Its fine that was one of the foods i thought i would have to loose and i started reading lables and was surprised to find that it didn't have stuff in it that i couldn't have. Its my go to snack food as well (partially a habit picked up from my grandmother who has lots of food allergies, she always kept a block on hand). Sweet potatos are one of my...
