ARCHIVED Retesting Celiac Blood Work?
key replied to key's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks Karen, I feel as if I got really sick after my 3rd son was born. That is when I really started having symptoms of celiac disease. I wasn't sick for years and years. My 3rd son is also the one with Celiac disease and so I found out pretty early. How are you feeling. Are you still sick? I know you struggle still and hope you are getting along ok... -
ARCHIVED Retesting Celiac Blood Work?
key posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I will try and make this as short as possible. When I got tested 18 months ago, I had been gluten free for 6 weeks already. My blood work came back borderline Celiac disease as the GI doctor put it. He wanted me to have the biopsy, but I was scared to start eating gluten again and felt great gluten free. My 2 year old son also has celiac disease. Some... -
Mike, When I get nauseated I take the less drowsy Dramamine and it seems to work very well for me. Sometimes if I have indigestion too, I will take Pepto Bismol, but I don't take that very much. It will probably take longer then 3 days to feel better. I would at least give it a few months even. I felt better within a few days, but not perfect. Also...

What testing did you have done for lymes disease?? Where did you get tested at? Just curious. I have had at least 3 friends and family just this summer that had lymes disease, but they also had the rash and were very sick right away. Monica

I also have been getting so cold that I have to take a hot bath in order to get warm. My temperature on a thermometer is actually above normal though. I run 100.0 degrees alot of the time. It is crazy. I think for me it is when I am very thin. Also I am anemic right now. I hate it though. I can't even bundle up and go watch my kids outdoors, because I am...

I have been struggling a bit with anorexia symptoms. I don't have a full blown case of anorexia by any means, but I was having so many digestive issues, that I became scared to eat, because of the pain it caused. So I have lost some more weight. NOw I am struggling with low iron and I am cold all the time. I did have my celiac tests redone and everything...

Kinnikinnik breads make my stomach hurt sometimes. I don't have a clue why. I have been avoiding all processed foods that don't agree with me, even if they are gluten free. Sorry you are miserable. Monica

ARCHIVED Pamela's Mix
key replied to valzues's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Being vegetarian, I think we would have starved without Pamela's pancake mix. We eat them at least 3 days a week. Everyone in our family loves them. I will have to try the cake sometime. Monica -
Yes, it can take 8 hours for sure to react for alot of people and my guess is definitely the Chipotle's. I have reacted to their foods several times. They are flinging flour tortillas around everwhere. I actually must have been gluttened badly from there the other day. I got very nauseated within 30 minutes of eating there, my heart was racing, thought I...

ARCHIVED Help Against The Gerd! (reflux)
key replied to allison's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Are you on any other medications that heartburn could be a side effect of? I am very frustrated about having heartburn. It doesn't seem to matter what I do I have been having it. I have decided to try yoga and exercise more. I am SICK and tired of being miserable. I was taking Prilosec, but it does seem to make my stomach hurt and cause indigestion for me... -
I would try no dairy. Since she was doing so well before and her tummy hurts. Does she eat out? DOes she go to daycare?? It does sound like she could be getting gluttened somewhere. It is hard to know. It is hard on you to have to deal without a husband. Hang in there. Monica

ARCHIVED Healthy gluten-free Flour
key replied to Juanita's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Glutenevolution.com has breads that are made from bean flours and are healthy. You can order them online. They have a pie crust. I have one, but haven't used the pie crust, but the banana bread was excellent and the bread was good too. Monica -
Caffeine can cause your circulation to not be as good. Do you drink caffeine? I know being thin makes me colder. Also if I drink too much caffeine. Monica

ARCHIVED The Closest Thing I've Found To A Real White Bread!
key replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Nini, I have to agree. I use kinnikinnick and like it, but the very first bread I tried gluten free was the EnerG light. It makes a great sandwich toasted. I thought it was very good. I just haven't been able to get any in stores and the time I tried their regular bread, it was down right discusting!!!! I am thinking I will by some more though. I liked it... -
ARCHIVED Very Shakey, Almost Low Blood Sugar Feeling...
key replied to a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have been having the same feeling of light headed and my heart racing. It scares me to drive too. I am starting to wonder if mine is caused by Lexapro. I am going to wean off of it. It doesn't seem to be really making much difference with helping my stomach. It does help when I am gluttened though with my mood. We will see. Monica -
Cassidy, I can completely relate to how you feel. Especially lately. I am terrified to eat lately to the point that I am losing weight. I never know when or what is going to make me sick. I haven't eaten out in like 6 weeks at all. I have had very bad luck eating out. I bought some ensure, but I don't feel like drinking it. I would rather not waste calories...

ARCHIVED Risk A Gluten-challenge?
key replied to allison's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I tried to eat gluten for a challenge, but only lasted like 2 days. I was sick as a dog! It was miserable and so I have never made it through one. My guess is that you are getting gluten contamination from somewhere else. I don't know about the dizziness. You may want to ask in a separate topic about that. I had that once in College and don't know if... -
STef, THanks for the encouragement. Yesterday evening wasn't so good. I ate something bad I suppose. Today I wasn't going to eat very much, but have eaten some. Today I feel very good, so that is good. I know several things I probably gluttened myself with and I think I will try removing all soy. I hate to do that, because I am vegetarian, but I don't think...

I hope you figure out what is going on soon. It is terrible not to know. Have things slowed down at all? ARe you still nauseated? Hugs, Monica

Hi Monica (nice name), I am sorry you are going through the same thing. It is very hard to know what to eat, when everything seems to make you sick. My mom says I need to quit drinking caffeine, but i don't drink that much and feel sorry for myself that I am not aloud "one pleasure" in life! HA! I am eating alot of bananas right now. Yesterday I tried...

ARCHIVED Reflux Worse After Going gluten-free
key replied to alexp's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am probably not much help as to why it is worse. SOmetimes people find that once they remove gluten, then they have trouble with dairy. Also, are you sure after a week that all the gluten is gone from your diet? Hidden sources or eating out? Most people react more violently to small amounts of gluten, once they go gluten free. Monica -
Just curious, do you still drink caffeine?? Anyone with reflux? Just wanted to know if that would help with mine. I don't think I drink that much, but none would be best if I could quit. Heartburn and reflux stink. Have you tried Nexium?

I have a son with Celiac. I had the blood work after being gluten free for 6 weeks and it was borderline positive. Normal was like below 18 and my number was 16. My Igg was way above normal, but that is least specific for celiac. THe GI doctor wanted to do the biopsy, but at the time, I didn't want to do it. I thought if I am gluten free and feeling well...
