  1. Come on out if you can stand the smoke. I am near the fire you may have read about - the one where a C130 air tanker crashed last night. The smoke is so thick they are telling everyone to stay indoors. I have a touch of asthma and wood smoke is one of my triggers so I am staying indoors for sure. Got my "go bag" ready (important papers, medications, etc...
  2. They dust the shreds with corn starch to keep it from clumping together. If you can tolerate corn you could do the same with the Cabot.
  3. "And I guess I should be scared of damaging my system..." Yes, you should. Don't mess with it. My Mom was one of those whom it took YEARS to diagnose, and she ended up with permanent damage, had to have her parathyroid removed, needed injections of vitamins because her villi were so far gone that they never would heal. And then she died, either from leukemia...
  4. When I saw the title of your thread I thought you were offering to SEND samples of your food to us. If you ever decide to make that offer, I'm afraid you'll NEVER get out of the kitchen. They'll HAVE to find someone else to clean!
  5. How about what I had for lunch today? Ground bison cooked on the George Forman grill and then crumbled, baked mashed sweet potato, finely chopped cauliflower, all mixed together and covered, I meaqn DRENCHED, with melted white cheddar. It was GGOODD!!
  6. Kraft cheese is good stuff. If you can find the WHITE cheddar, it is even better. Here in the midwest they put that nasty orange dye (annatto)in ALL cheeses and all it does is water down the taste and mealy up the texture. Safeway has white cheddar, and so does Walmart - they have Cabot extra-sharp white cheddar, and if you've never had it, TRY it! It's so...
  7. IrishHeart, I hope whatever it is that has you wanting to cry is over with soon. Good people like you should only be happy! Here's a cyber-((((((HUG)))))), and if there's anything any of us can do to help, I'm sure we will all be falling over each other to get there first. You are one of the best people I've (n)ever met, and that's the truth.
  8. Wow, who is that singing? Oh, never mind, I see that his name is revealed at the end. Nice guitar work. I'll be going over to Youtube to check out the rest of his stuff. THANKS!
  9. Have you been tested with ALL of the tests? I ask because from what I have read here, so many doctors either don't do all of the right tests, or don't perform them properly. And then half the time they don't know how to READ them properly either. I am self-diagnosed so I have no idea if I am celiac or simply "gluten intolerant". But more and more, I'm...
  10. Whatever you decide to make, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
  11. Cornish game hens are their own breed. They are nasty, mean birds - I knew someone who raised them once. And they are DESIGNED not to ever "grow up". If they aren't slaughtered when they are young, they will continue to grow until their little legs break because they aren't bred to get that big, and their leg bones aren't strong enough to hold their full...
  12. I miss malt vinegar too. Not only can't I have the vinegar, but I can't have the fish and chips I used to put it on - for two reasons. Of course I can't have the breading on the fish, but there is no good fish worth eating where I live now. And even if I COULD, they don't do malt vinegar here either.
  13. No matter what the weather is like, I'll never forget what Gary Elenbolt, the morning guy on our local NPR station said one 10 below morning: "It's cold enough to freeze an egg on the sidewalk." 10 below sounds pretty good right now.
  14. "Then you have salt and pepper and green stuff on your cantaloupe."
  15. I doubt if this is it, but there was a thread here a few days or so ago about tick bites causing meat allergies. Here is one of the news articles about it: Open Original Shared Link
  16. I don't have DH either , but from what I understand, DH IS a celiac diagnosis. If she has DH, she has celiac, and 95% gluten-free isn't going to help her. Her DH MAY grow less severe, but she is doing terrible damage to her body.
  17. Turkey doesn't work if you are corn intolerant. Almost all turkeys are injected with "stuff", and that "stuff" almost always contains corn. I found out the hard way last Thanksgiving. Chicken, on the other hand, usually is not injected with anything.
  18. Thank you. I now look like a guitar!
  19. This one isn't all that strange, but something you might not have thought of: strawberries dipped in sour cream and then rolled in brown sugar. Absolute Heaven!
  20. I normally like my eggs with the yolk runny, but every once in a while I will cook one hard, sprinkle it with powdered oregano, then have it on toast with mayonaise. Honestly, it's good.
  21. I couldn't do it either. I tried a long time ago and it didn't take. But NOW, I can't even click on my settings. The drop down menu doesn't work when I mouse over it anymore. I have to click on my name to get it to even show up but of course that takes me to my page.
  22. I think it's undigested fat that makes it float. There must be something else going on. You have been avoiding all of your "poisons". Maybe you're getting CC'd somehow?
  23. We got up to 110 the other day, but today is only in the mid 90's. BUT, they are sealing the roof on my shop and the smell is so strong I had to turn the AC off and open the doors. It is HOT in here!
  24. My sister loved french fries but hated mashed potatoes - until she started putting ketchup on them.
  25. Mom used to eat peanut butter and pickle sandwiches. (I don't care for PB, and I really dislike pickles.) She and my sister used to enjoy baked bean sandwiches. And my Dad always put mayonaise on cooked spinach.
