  1. Rice chex did me in. I thought it was CC from corn, but enriched with corn makes sense too. I just eat a banana for breakfast and top it off with ice cream.
  2. Replacement grates don't cost all that much. I'd just get a new one and never let anyone cook a gluten product on it.
  3. I get psoriasis flares from potatoes, same as I do from gluten and corn.
  4. Now that IS interesting. Also, did you notice this? "My life would be over if I couldn't eat red meat," Alexandria resident David Kudlow said. "If I couldn't have steak, I probably wouldn't want to live much longer." Another one who doesn't THINK before he speaks!
  5. My Mom had these pots and pans and she loved them. And when I was taking care of my sick friend I cooked for her every day with her set. I began to see why Mom loved them so much. But they stopped making them and none of the yard sales I have been to had any. But yesterday a friend told me she saw some at a "junk shop" in a neighboring town. I was up early...
  6. That is WONDERFUL!! You not only have a healthy four year old, but you have saved him from a lifetime of serious health problems. Brag away!!
  7. Bison is a great source of protein and is very low in fat. Bison is also usually free of the antibiotics and other junk they inject cattle with. And it is grass fed instead of wading in filth at the feed lots where they feed the cattle GMO corn and other unhealthy things. And it tastes better too. Kind of expensive, but worth it, IMO.
  8. Please don't think I'm taking your complaint lightly. I know exactly what you're going through. But my first impule when I read the title of your thread was to tell you to get a banjo and learn how to play it! LONG before Steve Martin said it, I said that if we want to have world peace we should get everyone a banjo because you can't help but feel happy when...
  9. How cool is that? Someone has a question about a product and instead of having to call the company, all they have to do is click on this, the world's best forum! I have a question for you Maggie. Is there ANY possibility that someone like the fine company you work for might someday make a bread with no gluten, no soy, no potato starch, and especially...
  10. I WISH the only thing that happened to me when I eat corn was digestive issues. But instead, I get FIREY psoriasis flares, unbearable insomnia, zombie-like brain fog, in short, the EXACT same symptoms I get from gluten. Only with corn, the reaction is more severe and lasts longer.
  11. Celiac is much more rare than IBS because there are so many stupid doctors out there who are too lazy to test for Celiac, too incompetent to do and READ the tests properly, or too "holier than thou" to allow you to question their NON-diagnosis. And IBS is NOT a diagnosis. It is a cop-out.
  12. I'm not sure about all eyedoctors, but mine doesn't use the puff test anymore. He has some new equipment that is more accurate, and although it LOOKS like that blue light is going to touch my eyeball, it never does. My eyedoctor is WONDERFUL, and I have told him I wish I could find an MD whom I trusted as much as I do him. What was funny was the day...
  13. I have borderline glaucoma, and I have had a few (VERY few, thank God!) migraines. Whenever I have one though, my eye doctor has told me to come in right away to get checked. He said a spike in eye pressure will cause that kind of pain and should be checked IMMEDIATELY, because if the pressure spikes hard enough and quickly enough, I could go blind within...
  14. How about this one: Just because I can't eat what you do doesn't mean I can't have a social life. So if you were thinking about NOT inviting me to your party, please think again.
  15. Oh, and don't forget the classic: No, actually you WOULDN'T die if you had to give up bread!
  16. 1. No, I am NOT making this up. 2. Yes, as a matter of fact, it DOES hurt. 3. If just the smell of peanuts can kill someone with a peanut allergy, why do you insist that a couple of gluten crumbs won't hurt me, a Celiac? 3. No, Celiac is not something one gets over eventually. 4. Yes, when it comes down to hurting your feelings because I can't...
  17. Maybe a soak in a hot bath full of epsom salts?
  18. Googles, your story just put a big smile on my heart! I too had a Dad who would go WAY above and beyond to make my life a bit easier/better/happier. Give him a big hug from me, and wish him a happy Fathers Day!
  19. Irish, Bunnie, my heart goes out to you. My dad was my best friend too, and I know I've told you the hearbreaking story of my Celiac Mom. But as Dani said, they are all happy for us that we are feeling better. And they will be with us forever. (((((HUGS))))) to you both.
  20. I can't drink wine so I could take the breakfast shift - IF I were a morning person. But I can play guitar for you.
  21. DH isn't the only skin condition brought on by gluten. Psoriasis and excema are symptoms of Celiac too.
  22. Yes! A while back there was a "gluten free festival" in Rapid and all of the restaurants that had gluten free menus were there with food. I was rather limited because of the corn intolerance, but I still ate well, and some of my favorites came from Curry Masala. The festival was wonderful. There were several mini seminars, one with a compounding pharmacist...
  23. Yep. You either need to find another doctor, try going gluten-free for a while, or both. I don't know WHY so many doctors have their heads in dark places, but your experience is pretty common. Look around the forum and read read read. You will see that you're not alone, get great advice, and lots of understanding.
  24. Better check under your pillow.
  25. You'd have to go back to eating gluten in order to be tested. If gluten-free is working for you, I'd leave it alone. But I'm curious - does your doctor have any suggestions as to WHY your symptoms have cleared up? Can she give you a better explanation? Or does she just pretend you never had any of those symptoms in the first place? You will find better...
