  1. Already had x-rays. That was one of the ways they determined it wasn't a tooth. The thing that surprised me though was that my "new" doctor was able to test all of my saliva ducts simply by pressing the right places with a tongue depressor. Holy cow did they ever squirt! Why was he the only one out of all the doctors and dentists I've seen who knew how to...
  2. Hi gang. I'm still alive. The B12 helped. The other day I was trying to tune a bass and I FORGOT HOW! I've been a musician all my life and I own a music store, but I FORGOT how to tune a bass!! I cried all day again. But after three days of sublingual B12 my head is a lttle clearer and I don't have the shakes anymore. Well, not as bad anyway. The...
  3. Hope you are doing better.

  4. No offense taken! Are you kidding? You are the ones who have helped me so much and I love you for it! My reactions vary. I get psoriasis flare ups from anything that doesn't agree with me, and some of them are also accompanied by digestive problems that are far worse than any I had when I started. I seem to get insomnia from corn/gluten/soy, but not...
  5. The Tylenol was made at a compounding pharmacy, supposedly with no gluten/soy/corn. The rice is Uncle Ben's. I wrote to them and they actually called me on the phone and assured me they use no corn at all.
  6. I don't know, Jegstar. I WAS eating well washed meat (organic when I could find it), white rice, broccoli and cauliflower (organic when I can find it), eggs, white cheddar, bananas, and avocados. But SOMETHING in that mix has started bothering me. I can't eat potatoes, skins or not, organic or not. Can't tolerate brown rice. Asparagus didn't work. Almonds...
  7. So I'll try not to make this TOO whiney: I've been doing the elimination diet without much success. The only things I've been able to add back are avocados and ORGANIC sweet potatoes. After the organic ones worked, and seeing I can't GET organic veggies here, I thought I'd try grocery store sweet potatoes. BAD decision! Now it seems I am reacting to...
  8. One of the best things I ever tasted was corn that was cooked in the fireplace. It was all brown and carmelized and I loved it. Of corse that was many years ago, and now, with my corn intolerance I know I will never try it again. But the broccoli and cauliflower sound good.
  9. She said she didn't wash the broccoli because heating would kill the germs. Germs wouldn't be my worry - pesticides would! And even if it were organic broccoli, well, the fertilizer (manure) might have splashed up onto it during a heavy rainstorm. I would DEFINITELY wash it first.
  10. If you slide a butter knife between the slices and then twist the knife, it'll come right apart.
  11. I used rubbing alcohol to clean the corn oil off of the new stainless steel pan I bought. One of my corn allergy forums informed me that new pans get a coating of corn oil before they leave the factory and that alcohol would destroy the protein. I washed it well with soap and water, then scrubbed it with the alcohol and followed that with more soap and water...
  12. But they warn that because they also process gluten, it may be cross contaminated.
  13. Hmmm...I have never had that, but I remember Mom (who had caliac) used to complain of pain on her left side. Sorry I can't be of more help.
  14. Talk to the PARENTS of these kids. Explain that if they do this you will have them ARRESTED for attempted poisoning. And that after that you will be talking to a LAWYER. Mention this to your youth pastor too - it is HIS responsibility to keep you safe on this trip and if you have to threaten HIM with a lawyer too, well so be it.
  15. From their website: Does ALEVE contain gluten? We do not add any gluten to our products. However, we cannot guarantee that they are 100% gluten free as this product is produced in a facility that manufactures or packages other items which may contain gluten.
  16. Before I realized that I am intolerant to aspirin I found BC Aspirin Powder. It worked really well for pain until it made me even sicker. It was the ONLY pain reliever I found that didn't contain either gluten or corn. I wound up having to get a prescription for Tylenol made at a compounding pharmacy. $35 for 200 capsules, and believe me, they are...
  17. I am gluten/corn/soy free. After doing as much research as I could, I came to the conclusion there is nothing available EXCEPT BC Aspirin powder. I got some and found out I react VERY badly to aspirin now too, so I had to have Tylenol made at a compounding pharmacy. In South Dakota, you need a prescription to have even an over-the-counter medicine made. I...
  18. Gluten, soy, corn, and I am not sure WHAT it is in other foods. The nutritionist I saw said that I'm reacting to pesticides on grocery store produce, and I think she's right - grocery store sweet potatoes make me really ill, but organic ones work just fine. I've been doing this for nine months now, but I keep getting nailed whenever I try new foods...
  19. A friend told me she saw vitamin B12 and vitamin D patches on the internet. I looked them up and found plenty of sites that sell them, but not much info on whether they really work. Anybody here have any experience with them? I can't take regular vitamins because I haven't found any that are completely free of corn. Thanks.
  20. When the high cost of eating healthy starts getting you down, remember, part of that cost is balanced by the money you save on toilet paper.
  21. Wow, that three times a morning part describes me perfectly - but that was before I went gluten free. Now I'm pretty darned normal unless I get into something I shouldn't. I didn't see white flakes though - I saw the food I ate the day before, looking pretty much the same as it did when I ate it. I wasn't digesting anything. I don't really have any answers...
  22. OK, this is going to sound silly, but remember, I don't know how to cook - how do you "use" a vanilla bean? I mean, I know that some vanilla ice cream seems to have flecks of bean in it, but I never even thought of grinding them and using them in stuff. I'm not baking YET, but if I ever get brave and try to, or if I make my own ice cream or something, it...
  23. Thanks VanillaGuy, and welcome. Since I am also intolerant to corn, the idea of making my own vanilla extract is great. I wonder, can I use tequila? That is the ONLY alcohol I can (sort of) tolerate. It DOES bother me when I drink it, but I think it's not from any intolerances, just from having such a damaged digestive system. I'm thinking that a little vanilla...
  24. Here it is, from a thread just a few days ago:
  25. Wow, thanks for the recipe! It'll save me a lot of money on probiotics. Once you have a yogurt started, you can keep adding to it forever. Going to try this as soon as possible.
