  1. The Dr. was telling you about the level of damage according to the Marsh scale. From Wikipedia: The classic pathology changes of coeliac disease in the small bowel are categorised by the "Marsh classification":[62] Marsh stage 0: normal mucosa Marsh stage 1: increased number of intra-epithelial lymphocytes, usually exceeding 20 per 100 enterocytes ...
  2. McCormick's has several taco seasoning packages. Some are gluten-free. They each have a different combo of flavors. The one that had cheese flavoring added also had gluten. We always have to read the ingredient list.
  3. I'd still be curious why the antibodies tested positive? If the long term "memory" didn't show positive, wouldn't it mean that you hadn't had Lyme disease for a long time, not that you don't have it? It's all very interesting. I wonder if the Lyme antibodies read similar to gluten ones?
  4. I could have written your post, except I was DXed with Celiac 9mos ago, and went gluten-free at that time. My reflux and bloating went away, but other symptoms continued, including weight loss/weakness. A food log showed me that soy was really bad for me, then I cut out dairy, peanuts, MSG, and now corn. It seems like I keep cutting things out, and I'm...
  5. It seems like they were trying to "work out" the bad part of the flour, like fermenting milks into yogurt works out the lactose? It's an interesting concept..but I sure wouldn't want to one of the people being tested.
  6. You could have gotten a little cc? The pain you described could be the intestinal lymph nodes acting up, which could be from a small dose of gluten? Before I was DXed I thought I had apendicitus because of that same pain in the same area. Some of us have trouble digesting some things at first, and that might be your problem if you had a lot of carbs?...
  7. My test was done at the Mayo Clinic. It lists both alpha and beta. My Dr. ordered the test and had it sent there. They do testing for people all over the country.
  8. If the Dr. wants you to go back on gluten, you tell them how badly it affects you. That should help DX, because improvement on a gluten-free diet is one of the things Dr, Fassano (one of the leading Celiac specialists) uses as a diagnosing factor. Maybe you could ask for the genetic test? It might help with your DX. Waiting is just awful isn't it?
  9. You are the best judge of how foods/supplements make you feel. We are all unique, so it's hard for another person to tell you what will be right for your body. I hope you find the right dose that will help heal you, without causing bad side effects. With an upcoming surgery I can completlely understand your anxiety. It's good they can do it arthroscopically...
  10. I ditto what SkyLark and Irish Heart have said..except I would have sworn some too! I'm beginning to wonder if you're just a shill trying to sell this rediculous product? SURELY you can't be that thick headed? I'm just not going to respond any more to this nonsense!
  11. I was hoping SkyLark would weigh in on this, because she really knows this stuff. I take one of the L-glutamine supplement tablets every other day or so. I know it helps heal the intestine, but I react to MSG very strongly, so didn't want to over do it. I have read that some people do get a reaction from the supplement. I have Vitacost brand here...
  12. I had the skin prick test for 98 foods. The test came back with no reactions. I clearly react badly to wheat(gluten) and soy, so my Dr. did a RAST (blood test) and I didn't have any reactions. I was told there isn't any reliable test for food intolerances, other than your personal experience of symptoms when you consume something that doesn't agree with...
  13. How sweet of your friend to try to make you a safe meal. There are differing views on the gluten digestive enzymes. From what I've read the digestive enzymes help break down gliadin faster and so it goes through your system faster. They are not recommended as an alternative to gluten-free eating, but taking them when you think there's a *possibility...
  14. Make sure you drink a lot of water to help flush your system. I know these feelings are scary, but they should improve as your system clears out. Gluten can be addictive to the brain. It releases a "feel good" chemical that the brain craves. Removing it from your diet makes the brain crave it even more. The result is those symptoms that you've described...
  15. You have a lot going on. SO many of your symptoms would fit with Celiac disease, including the diabetes. It would be hard to get an accurate test for it since you have already gone gluten-free. The best I can add..is to make sure you are completely gluten-free. Even a very small amount of gluten can keep your immune system upset..and you will have...
  16. I've had Pilaris Keratosis for years, although I didn't know it had a name. I thought it was clogged hair folicles. I also had bumps on my back and shoulders that appeared more like acne than DH. They were very itchy, and I couldn't not scratch them. One lesion has been there for over a year now, and is slow healing even on a gluten-free diet. I've...
  17. When first going gluten-free a lot of people go through a sort of withdrawl period. It's a pretty good sign that gluten was affecting your brain? Try to tough it out..it won't last forever.
  18. It's very possible that you were glutened. There are many ways for cc to happen in restaurant kitchen, even if there was no wheat flour used in your food. It could come from a CC pan, grill, serving utensil, etc. Drink a lot of water to help flush your system. I hope you feel better soon.
  19. It seems like the GI is focusing on the stool samples because he's thinking the bile dripping into your system is causing the D? The fact that you've had gallbladder problems in the past points to Celiac IMO? Here's an article. https://www.celiac.com/articles/119/1/Gall-Bladder-Disease-and-Celiac-Disease---By-Ronald-Hoggan/Page1.html I hope your Dr...
  20. It can be hard for some of us to digest raw veggies at first. I found Romain lettuce harder on my system than iceberg lettuce. It could also be the vinegar or soy oil in the dressing that's not agreeing with you? Maybe give it a bit more time and then try it again?
  21. There are so many different kinds of reactions that one could have, that it's hard to list them all. The same person might react to the same food differently when eaten at a different time, too. For me, I get hyper from some things and can't sleep. I also get migraines, indigestion, vomiting, an off balace feeling, anxiety, nausea, bloating, itchy skin...
  22. So many of your symptoms could be Celiac! You absolutely should follow up with info on the testing. Just the fact that you had GB disease is very telling. It's VERY common in Celiac disease. Here's a link for you. https://www.celiac.com/articles/119/1/Gall-Bladder-Disease-and-Celiac-Disease---By-Ronald-Hoggan/Page1.html

    ARCHIVED First Gi Doc Appt

Looks like the GI is right up to date as to what follow-up should be done? Congrats on getting answers to your symptoms..and welcome to gluten-free!
  24. Around the time I was first DXed I was getting that same "jolt awake' when starting to fall asleep. It lasted quite a while. I found it was linked to an iron deficiency. I've never tried taking Pepto, but I've seen others post that it helps them a lot when they get an accidental dose of gluten. It would probably be a good idea to have it on hand..just...
  25. I couldn't say anything more clearly than Mushroom. She is right on every point. Just wanted to say it would be a good idea for you to be retested. I hope all of your bad days are behind you!
