  1. When the Dr.s find something that could be causing your symptoms, it's a little bit of relief knowing you're not just imagining things, which is followed by the shock of being DXed with such a thing! Did your symptoms come on suddenly, or have you had them for some time? I'm curious because I've been having neuro symptoms too. If you have to have...
  2. I think most of us have had feelings like yours? This is a life changing thing for sure. I know it's a bit harder when you're traveling. Try to keep packages of nuts/sunflower seeds with you. You can get small serving size packs. They don't need refrigeration and are covenient. I sometimes carry a baggie with mini carrots for nibbling on. They keep pretty...
  3. Without a food log I think it would be very hard to figure out what foods you are reacting to? So sorry you can't have the treat from McDonald's. Those little things like that can be enough to cause you big problems, esdpecially if you have several things that are not agreeing with you..and especially if they have even a tiny bit of gluten. The only thing...
  4. Your symptoms *could* be Celiac..but they could also be something else, which is why it's hard to know without getting tested. You should contact your Dr. and request the tests. Once you know for sure you'll know if it would be best to be gluten-free, and if you're Celiac the test results should help you understand you need to say on a gluten-free diet...
  5. It's normal to have some ups and downs at first. Many of us go through a sort of withdrawl period. Some of the alternate grains they make gluten-free breads from can be a bit hard to digest when you're new to the diet and healing too. Many of us also find we have another intolerance besides gluten. Dairy and soy seem to be the most common offenders? Keep...
  6. I thought your problems really sounded like Gallbladder. When it's that low functioning they usually recommend having it removed. If you are taking acid reducing meds they can make your GB more sluggish. My function was at 30% when tested. I went off my acid reducer and gluten-free too, to see if it improves. I'm not getting as much pain/nausea with...
  7. Thanks for this info! I've just found a new PCP and will meet with her soon. I'd like to be tested so I know. I used to get migraines when I had my period. I got them regularly every month until 2-3 years ago, so I'm assuming I've gone through memopause? Err...I don't wanna know what color my lady parts are..if they're gonna be "grey and dry"? LOL...
  8. I read in one of the posts about MSG here today that said MSG is added to some tobacco/cigarettes. Could it be possible that you are sensitive to MSG? I used to smoke so I know it's hard to quit. It's very important to your overall health that you try though. I had to find replacements for the times I would have grabbed a cigarette. For me, cough drops...
  9. It's comforting to know that even seasoned bakers can have the occasional flop. I'm sure your next attempt will be much better. You could use it in your garden for a stepping stone?
  10. Withdrawl symptoms are very common. You may have some vitamin/mineral deficiencies causing symptoms too? Have your levels been tested? Processed gluten-free foods can be expensive. Try a whole foods diet instead. Fruits, veggies, unprocessed meats, fish, dairy if you tolerate it. Eggs are a great source of protein and amino acids. How about...
  11. I get hot flushes a lot. I've noticed I will get one about 2 hours after eating, every single time. I think it has to do with something in the digestive process, but I don't know what? I also get them at night. I don't think they are menopause either. I hope this resolves for you. It's kind of unsettling when it happens.
  12. My biopsy report mentioned the possibility of Crohn's, but the Dr. said she didn't think I had it. My sister has it, so I thought it worth testing for? I've read several articles suggesting that Crohn's patients do better off gluten, so hopefully your gluten-free diet will help? Probiotics are a good idea, and there are some people that are finding adding...
  13. I haven't been on the Entocort long enough to know what side effects I'll get. It's not as bad as Prednisone and steroids like that? I was on Prednisone years ago for pneumonia and started looking like a Budda. Was losing my hair, got a fat round face, and huge fat belly. I'm sure it helped damage my bones. We live in Ohio, so the trip to Mayo JAX was...
  14. You may have a second intolerance? Many of us fing that we react to dairy or soy after stopping gluten. Mood changes can be a symptom of that. Try keeping a log of the foods you eat, along with any reactions you feel. Many food reactions can be delayed by hours or days. Having a way to go back and piece together what might be bothering you is much...
  15. Write down a list of your symptoms and any questions you want to ask. Sometimes we forget things when we're anxious. Good luck to you.
  16. It's very common in Celiacs and can be due to various vitamin/mineral deficiencies. See if you can get a blood panel done to pinpoint anything you might be low on? It's my opinion that the reason we react to glutening with anxiety is because we get a temporary flattening of the tips of the villi, which leads to malabsorption to some degree? I've suffered...
  17. Ridiculous! I hope you don't strangle him? I also hope thy help your little darlin'.
  18. I hear you on the Dr. shopping! I've been to 6 different ones since my DX in late June. Two of them were Residents who said I was "too old" to have Celiac. Two GI's locally, and one at Mayo. I went to a PCP that someone from the GI's office said was good, but when I went to him I found out he's 93, and told me Celiac was a very rare condition. Currently...
  19. Good news then? I hope it works for you.
  20. I'm in the same boat as you. I'm fanatic about staying away from CC. I don't eat out. I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out what's causing my ongoing damage. I've found an intolerance to soy, dairy, and MSG/autolised yeast extract. Could be other things too, that I haven't figured out? I'm using Maybeline mascara, which I know Sylvia uses...
  21. I've been getting this as well, but the pain radiates to the right side of my back. I'm guessing it might be gallbladder in my case? I was given a HIDA scan and my function is at 30%. I was told to consult a surgeon about having it taken out...which I don't want to do. The condition is called billiary dyskenesia, and can be made worse by PPI medications...
  22. LOL! Thanks for the link.
  23. Shocking! A Dr. that doesn't order blood tests she doesn't know how to read...AND her own Daughter had it? I wonder what else slips through the cracks with this Dr.? It sounds like the Dr. that ordered the test considered the variables and that's why they didn't contact you and tell you about it? I hope that was the case..and not just laziness? ...
  24. I started getting these same issues around the time I was DXed. It's scary..and very hard to describe to someone. They cleared up in a couple of weeks, once gluten-free. I had a real bad episode Jan. 17. I got real wobbly and weak, and staggered when I walked. My heart threw a couple of weird beats (PVCs) which triggered chest pains. I ended up going...
  25. You can take a magnesium supplement..it's not harmful. Magnesium citrate isn't absorbed very well, so look for Magnesium glycinate or Magnesium lysinate. Drink lots of water too. For milk I use So Delicious coconut milk. I get the vanilla flavored because it's great with cereal. If you have trouble with soy..the Rice Chex have some tocopherol added...
