  1. Yes, but I'd have to EAT them .
  2. It's been over 3 months now. I just added the iron (I'm very anemic)...and mega D for a while. I did a month of low iodine, and it worked to get rid of the DH, but now food is just unappealing. I just want to eat soup. And I'd be thrilled if someone else made it. I'm whining, I know....
  3. Ok, this is a bit odd....but I'm finding I'm not eating because what used to taste good doesn't now, and I'm tired of making things that I don't like. It's like I have a new palate...and someone forgot to give me the instruction manual. And I'm sick and tired of eating just to take vitamins. And I think some of them (like iron) make me nauseated...and...
  4. Can you refer me to the study about the % with half, whole genes?
  5. Yes, but which one am I??? I can't figure it out from the results...they flip the numbers around so I have no idea WHAT I'm reading...even on the dq2. The statement "the patient is dqa105" doesn't follow for me since the "alleles detected" are different from the results. Am I making any sense? What alleles am I? On BOTH? I can't make sense out of it....
  6. Well, I have a kit and need to send it in. Perhaps that will shed light further.
  7. I'll call LabCorp Monday and see what they say. I'd like to understand if that dq8 is 03,03 or 03,02. I really want to know who is walking around with the full copies -and is it one person with both or two with one each? I think that person needs to know if s/he is dq2,8. I would want to know...
  8. Also, check your skin care products. Especially for seaweed!!
  9. Mine tested alpha and beta, but the whole thing is confusing.
  10. I have no idea. I've assumed they are safe as long as no added gluten (such as in canned seasoned beans). Some people may have problems digesting them at first, or may have an intolerance (like milk, eggs). Some super sensitive people may run into dry bulk beans that have been processed in gluten facilities, and have problems.
  11. Where do you get testing for the other genes if u.S. Panels concentrate on 2, 8?
  12. Apparently, yes, due to feed and cleaning methods. You can try cutting down vs. eliminating. Pay attention to salt (use non iodized), eggs can have huge amounts of iodine... I found carageenan (seaweed used as thickener) to be a top offender for me as well as potato chips. Eliminate what you can, see what happens.
  13. You're gluten-free, right? Try a low iodine diet and see if it helps. If it does, that's a good indicator of DH. I saw results in a few days...stayed strict for 2 weeks and have been adding iodine back. So far so good. Occasional irritated patch but no big breakout like before low iodine.
  14. Some microwaves (and warnings on things like microwave popcorn) warn of temps of 500 degrees fahrenheit, or have settings to reach apx. 500. I have seen mentions of gluten being destroyed at 500+. I've never seen a study quoted for the exact temperature. I never said it's a germ. Soap and water appears to be the best solution. Personally, I keep a...
  15. Wear rubber gloves for cleaning - the big thick yellow ones for dishes. And if you nuke your sponges (sponge not plastic ones) for 1 minute it may help kill gluten. Supposedly it needs to get around 500 farenheit to kill it.
  16. Digestive enzymes and probiotics. And keep that food diary to pinpoint it further. You're doing great, keep it up, you'll figure it out! Wow, hard enough reading labels in English. Can't imagine Polish! Sheesh!
  17. No. But you need to call your doctor back and yell him/her what's going on, and discuss whatever tests they can do -ultrasound, monitoring, etc. to ensure you aren't contracting in some way if your stomach muscles continue to feel odd. I always found my obgyn to be overly cautious if I felt odd on any way - and he wanted me to over-report, not tough it out...
  18. By chance did your rash get worse after surgery? Did the dentist use iodine packing? If yes to both that may be a great indicator of DH. As a matter of fact there's a case study about that exact thing.
  19. I haven't had DH on my hands, but many do. That said, everyone's rash looks different. Once your testing is done, if you go on a gluten-free diet and it improves you'll know its related to gluten. If it drastically proves or disappears on a gluten-free AND low iodine diet (google thyca for details on low iodine foods) then you can be very sure it's DH...
  20. Enzymedica is available online or vitamin stores. It's sold under brand names Digest Gold, etc. Enzymedica is the manufacturer. A good probiotic will help, too. I use PB8, but there are lots out there. Look for a multi-strain one.

  22. I understand about the agave. It takes a fraction of agave compared to sugar to sweeten. It's popular in margaritas and I forbid people to use it, except if I do it. Literally 1drop. Btw, if you are near trader Joe's they have excellent ketchup. My mother always raves about the taste compared to others. She says the flavor is much better -I like it but...
  23. Well, all of that is perfectly normal. All you can do is teach your children what they can/can't eat. I've noticed kids with celiac disease seem to stay compliant because they recognize certain things make them sick - as they grow up they'll test boundaries but that's normal. The best you can go is stay on top of testing so you can present a strong...
  24. Digestive enzymes -I like Enzymedica, and probiotics with every meal. And be vigilant to prevent cross contamination. You also may need to limit some other foods like dairy or eggs for a while. Your body may not be able to handle them right now.
  25. I used to get lumps behind my ears. They'd come and go. I was told stress or allergies...that they just happen. They were going to biopsy it when it went away permanently. The surgeon I went to wasn't concerned about cancer because it would come and go. What changed?? Quit my job in SF and stopped riding CalTrain. I swear I was allergic to the train or...
