ARCHIVED What Does A Normal Baby Poop Look Like?
pricklypear1971 replied to Ollie's Mom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I must have asked that question a million times. They vary depending on diet. My son had a problem with milk and perhaps soy as an infant. he ranged from horrible D to horrible C until I stopped giving him cows milk or soy formula and I stopped ingesting milk and soy (breast milk). He also had terrible stomach cramps and was raging mad, and had reflux... -
ARCHIVED Anthropologic Epidemiology
pricklypear1971 replied to saintmaybe's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Very good question. There's certainly a lot of info out there about Native American populations and diabetes. Wonder if that might be a place to start? -

ARCHIVED There Needs To Be A "success Story" Forum Category
pricklypear1971 replied to Twizzel's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The truth is this forum will never know why people stop visiting and posting unless the question is asked. Everybody can get all up in arms because I stated the obvious; however it doesn't make it less true. I think the original post is a good idea. Perhaps the administrator will consider it. -

I think that is a presumptive assumption. I'd love to read stories - it's the best way to learn, I think. It would be great to read a diary of sort. -

ARCHIVED How To Notify Family
pricklypear1971 replied to pricklypear1971's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Lol, I agree. I can't make them get tested, but I can give them the information they need. My mother is sooooo fighting getting tested. She admits she KNOWS SHE SHOULD - but she doesn't want to face the reality. Maybe if she got the dang rash????? It sure motivated ME. -
ARCHIVED How To Notify Family
pricklypear1971 replied to pricklypear1971's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My family is like a group of magpies... however, there are factions within the magpies???? I don't want this to be a word of mouth thing... like my mother telling my grandmother I have a problem with iodine (my grandmother has an iodine allergy, apparently). So my grandmother would assume she already knows what's wrong... and would not look into it. Get... -
ARCHIVED How To Notify Family
pricklypear1971 replied to pricklypear1971's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I've been tempted. I am making lasagna tonight - ricotta with carageenan, eggs, cheese. It's a true test. The problem is that the DH outbreak makes me physically ill - I almost get a fever, do get chills, my body tissues get inflamed... it's not just a rash for me, its all all-over-body experience. Plus, the primary site is under my arms so wearing a bra... -
ARCHIVED Emotional Revolutions
pricklypear1971 replied to saintmaybe's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes, yes, yes. I used to be one of those rebellious southern females. You know, the kind that questioned EVERYTHING. A good friend once told me that if the world was coming to an end, she would think it would be ok as long as I was there because I'd find a way to deal with it. I realized how different I'd become when people started describing me as... -
ARCHIVED How To Notify Family
pricklypear1971 posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Ok, I'm getting to the point of needing to notify family that there's something going on. Hubby, kid, parents, in-laws know... and they are very supportive. But I need to notify grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins.... I also need to convince my parents to be tested. My son will be tested soon (I'm loading him on gluten these next few weeks, gluten... -
ARCHIVED Iron Supplements - Queasy Feeling?
pricklypear1971 replied to pricklypear1971's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
It's time for another iron pill. Gag. If I get queasy again I'm switching around the cal/mag and taking the iron at night. -
Farmers cutting and bundling wheat/barley in a field, putting it into a huge container (i guess to brew beer).Huge. Takes up a 20+ ft. High wall. Anyway, enough to give some nightmares, I bet.

ARCHIVED Child With Bowel Issues/eczema -- Welcome All Advice!
pricklypear1971 replied to austinmeg3's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
It sounds like you are doing everything you can to help your son. First, get copies of his labs and see which labs were run for celiac. Was it one test it a panel? Children are more likely to be negative in some blood tests. You need a full panel run. Also, have you requested a small intestine biopsy? Second, get the tests before he goes gluten-free... -

pricklypear1971 replied to pondy's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Ha! Saw this one on a Tshirt.... If aliens were Celiac there wouldn't be crop circles. But then again, I shouldn't post it because it's about Celiac. Oops! -
Did the mural whig you out? We were facing it and when I realized what I was looking at I started laughing. I should have taken a picture.

ARCHIVED Progesterone Cream...anyone Sensitive To It
pricklypear1971 replied to LetGoddoit's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I use emerita, no reactions. I bought life-flo and haven't started that bottle yet burch don't see gluten in it. No reactions for me, just alot of relief. -
Great service, decent selections including gluten-free beer. The mural on the back wall (farmers in a wheat field) is a bit unnerving for the gluten intolerant...but otherwise a nice restaurant and bar.

ARCHIVED Feeling Dumb
pricklypear1971 replied to Sarah P's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
So far that particular feeling has been reserved for that one time. Only other time I've been quesy is from too much sugar/fat. Or the stupid iron pills. But potatoes are ok. I've been fine with other fried chips - corn, potato. I'm pretty ure it was cc from gluten. My FIL is a widower - and I am the only female - surrounded by every possible age of male...
