  1. Yeah, I have cheated with butter a bit. Milk will be the first thing I add back. I simply can't stomach the substitutes and most of them have carageenan or sea salt, anyway. I'm going nuts trying to cook. That cookbook helps a lot for ideas.
  2. The only negative I can think of on WW is the attitude (at least when I tried it 2 years ago) that you can eat any manufactured piece of crap and as long as it has low points, it's great. I know attitudes differ by group, etc. But I just couldn't drink the WW cool-aid. I seriously wanted to vomit when I heard what some people ate and were excited about...
  3. Some people say charcoal tablets help, available without an rx. Same with probiotics and digestive enzymes.
  4. Unless it says gluten free I'd stay off it. I do take a probiotic with maltodextrin but it says gluten free and so far no problems.
  5. Probiotics and digestive enzymes with every meal, and light exercise (walking, etc) 3x a week. Also, a good multivitamin without iron.
  6. Have you been on a low-iodine diet? I ask because mine would do that but still flame up easily. I started an extremely low iodine diet 4 days ago and that purplish look is quickly going away and it doesn't flame up easily. Btw, RICE and other grains can be high in iodine. I found a lot of good info here. Open Original Shared Link
  7. Page 12. Even cites the study. Open Original Shared Link
  8. Open Original Shared Link We use JR Ligget shampoo bars. Very gentle. I do have to use something to shake it up every few weeks - remove residue / mildly strip but had to do that with Aveda, too.
  9. As someone who has dabbled in organic fertilizers - no. Although it could double as that but seaweed or fish (emulsion) are good multi-purpose fertilizers. Rich in vitamins and minerals. I don't think I've ever heard of an organic gardener wanting to raise iodine levels, but then again I'm not a farmer or dairyman.
  10. If you live around a Trader Joe's they have salt and additive-free nuts.
  11. BTW - that's the "farming methods" I mentioned in that webmd blog.
  12. I think there must be some miscommunication somewhere because with all the above I don't think any sane doc would doubt your celiac status. Then again, I've heard a lot of insane things lately. They probably are having niggling doubts since your bloodwork was weak positive. I don't know why docs do that, but some think that - in spite of the biopsy and...
  13. I used Trader Joe's rice pasta ( I think brown rice) for mac and cheese in the oven and no one knew the difference.
  14. Hi there. Well, I don't know what your practicum is... are you in a remote location without a restroom? I understand its frightening to think about being in front of someone and projecting a professional demeanor (not to mention concentrating) when you've been glutened. I also understand you want to know how to handle it prior to it happening. Sometimes...
  15. What about Hemp? I say that because I bought some (haven't tried it, I'm chicken) since it doesn't have carageenan in it (trying to reduce iodine).
  16. Unfortunately, no. If you find one let me know!
  17. On top of that some people find coffee is an issue. Something about the molecule being similar to gluten. I thought at one point it was irritating me. I'm not really sure - formed a chai habit. I don't think that's technically any better but oh well...
  18. Ditto on the dentist. I'm a teeth grinder and that's a symptom. Also, jaw popping is a precursor to TMJ. You may be showing signs if peri/Pre menopause. Get a Dr. John Lee book. Progesterone cream is miraculous stuff. You may also gave other issues - autoimmune, etc. It's never one thing, I've found. Good luck, and find a way to de-stress and...
  19. I love anything stewy, but not potatoes frozen. I had great luck cooking biscuits, egg ( scrambled and poured in a cookie cutter mold or just cook and cut), and breakfast patty and making my own egg mcmuffins. They freeze great! Of course, that was before gluten-free bread...so depends on what you think of that. I just froze a ton of chicken soup...
  20. The only thing I found (other than the European study was webmd blog about how iodine levels have been falling in all dairy because of farming methods. That said, I saw quite a few things about western states' organic dairies (grass-fed/pastured) having concerns about radioactive fallout(iodine). Organic dairies appeared more at risk because the animal...
  21. Asian cuisine is always risky. I ate an Asian-fusion restaurant that has a celiac menu and had some hand swelling the next day. It's just a tough cuisine. Good news is you can make basic dishes safely at home. Maybe wait til you've been gluten-free longer before trying again, or try a different restaurant.
  22. Hey I have one I bought over 16 years ago and it still works GREAT!
  23. Oh yes, pms does it to me too. That reminds me, hey, maybe that's why the dang rash won't go down!!!
  24. I notice my rash itches more when I drink, red wine especially. I think alcohol is a "tipper". If you're on the edge, it tips you over.
  25. Mine starts early evening or any time something right (like my bra) rubs it for a few hours.
