  1. So, today is better. Last dose of d and iron and digestive enzyme and probiotic was yesterday around 11 am. Not doing that today. This morning lots of bathroom visits but no gas like before. No nausea. Seems to be calming down. So....I wait.
  2. It may be "processed overload" for lack of a better term. And those gums, to me, leave a weird taste/film in my mouth. I personally won't buy ice cream with that much "stuff" in it. It's just gross to me. I make my own:milk, sugar, cocoa, vanilla. Mix it up and put it in a freezer. Yum. Breyers is an ok commercial one, though I prefer Talenti gelato...
  3. I suggest a stainless steel colander...it can theoretically be scoured down if someone puts gluten in it. The fine mesh ones are impossible. I have all new colanders now, and a mesh one, but gluten isn't allowed near it.
  4. Check the Reese's website and there are also lists of "safe gluten-free" Halloween candy out there. I know Reese's are a touchy one, historically. Best to stick with "regular" cups if you eat them.
  5. I'm sorry you're still having problems. I have had some odd stuff going on with my hands - shaking of fingers, a pain radiating down from my arm to my thumb. My thumb woukd actually twitch if i strained it, or prriodically for no apparent reason. I've always assumed carpal tunnel (the pain) and assumed gluten for the fingers. All of it was worse if I...
  6. Peruse the posts in this section and read about iodine. She may need to limit it for a while. Iodine spreads it like gasoline, for some people.
  7. Yeah, I get the mutant stomach bug. Figures. I hope "everyone" stays away so I don't get it again.
  8. Maybe I'm just old and weak. I don't feel the same as I did last week, but I do feel like my gi system has been gutted.
  9. For best results ask for 6 or more, and from the duodenal bulb. Also, ensure the doctor takes samples, even if damage isn't visible to the eye. Some will NOT take samples if they don't see it, which is stupid, since they are looking for microscopic villi damage.
  10. How long did yours go, overall? My son's seemed to disappear by Saturday - 6 days. I think mine started last Monday, so I'm a week and a half??? Ugh.
  11. The warmth comes from the hot egg and/or dressing when I make it.
  12. I like warm spinach and egg and bacon salad. You don't see it much anymore, but I love it. Here's an example. Open Original Shared Link I would fudge it and use bacon grease (I keep drippings in my fridge) and whatever meat I have: chicken, etc. I also like to lightly boil red onions - takes the bite out of them. Just slice them as you would use...
  13. You need a letter from your doc or explain you have celiac disease, which is protected by ADA. Still, they may not let it in. Get a big purse, put a little in there. Take it out when it's dark. Or, eat candy. M&M'S and Junior Mints are gluten-free. Check the m&m's box to make sure it wasn't processed in a wheat shared facility. I think that's...
  14. Okay, I'm having a hard time recovering from that bug we had last week. And yes, I'm sure it was a bug because my son and I got sick together. The bug itself was mild - cramping, d, nausea. But it will NOT go away. To make matters worse at my doctors visit I found out my iron and d are still in the toilet. Technically in the "normal" range but still...
  15. Did you know that? I'm not surprised. Shocked it isn't higher. I hate my thyroid. 523,001.
  16. I think that gi sounds like a good lead. Call him! And I'd venture to say your son got a double whammy of gluten intolerance. Have YOU been tested? Sigh.
  17. You are going to have to learn sOme food basics and develop some rules about dining out. 1) if you have a smart phone, simply google an item and you may get a gluten-free answer. 2) the more processed a food is, the higher the risk. 3) always ASK if something is gluten-free. 4) read the label or ingredients list. Hint, if it contains words you...
  18. No one really knows what ncgs is or does. It apparently doesn't cause the same autoimmune reaction, or damage the intestines the same way Celiac does. But they don't know WHAT IT DOES DO. There is a stronger link between ncgs and neurological symptoms, some researchers think a genetic one. And the neuro is bad - such as lesions on the brain. One thing...
  19. I don't have experience with bio card testing. But if you feel better "gluten light" and have doctors telling you not to go for Endo..,I'd say stick with the doctor that will treat you as Celiac or gluten sensitive. Try for blood work ASAP, but don't delay gluten-free. Goodness. Go gluten-free. That means all gluten. Visit the newly dx'ed threads...
  20. With a positive response to a gluten-free diet you can rule IN a gluten intolerance but you can't call it Celiac. The difference right now, in the medical community is huge. In short, Celiac=damage (and things like delayed growth in kids) and NCGS isn't thought to cause damage on the Celiac scale unless you read about neurological symptoms ( I'm painting...
  21. Contact your local Celiac support group and ask for a doctor referral. They generally know "friendly" docs in the area. If you don't trust your current doctors then you need to find someone you can trust. I would think of an endocrinologist next, like the Genius Doc suggested, if you have successfully ruled out Celiac. The biggest problem I see is...
  22. Oh goodness. I agree with both, above about postponing the colonoscopy until you can schedule both together or at least with a doc that will give you a fair shake. I think any long-time member on this board can spot this doc's style a mile away, and she ain't one to be Celiac/gluten friendly. Get your lab results and RUN. I suggest contacting your...
  23. Well, did that genius offer up ideas??? The one who "never have thought it was Celiac", I mean.
  24. I also find it shocking that if they were so certain of finding Celiac (therefore wanting to find it) that they only took one intestinal biopsy. Did the dx physician do the biopsy or did another doctor do it?
  25. Well, none of those locations were the duodenal bulb and only one was in the intestines. That was not a good (or even marginal) biopsy to dx Celiac. Open Original Shared Link - location of duodenal bulb (first portion of duodenum, not third).
