  1. Went to the ND yesterday and got the new labs. In general, things are improving. But digging deeper into my thyroid, well, things suck big fat sour lemons. I am so frustrated I could scream, generally speaking. My thyroid is a mess. I'm making high levels of rt3. My iron and d aren't increasing enough to know if they are causing the problem or...
  2. He's gonna start going without you . That's what mine would say...sorta jokingly??
  3. Of they took 3 - one from the esophagus, one from stomach, one from intestines that's the kiss of death. If that facility is determined to do THAT again, find another facility. Seriously. Or don't bother with the endoscopy. Here's a link, though it isn't the best study. There is another one that compares more types of biopsies... Open Original Shared...
  4. Ghee is casein and lactose free. And since it's butter (without the casein and lactose).it tastes like butter.
  5. I know the uncertainty is frustrating, but you will eventually figure out glutening symptoms...the hard way. You will get "got". People have a range of symptoms-from mild to extreme. And your symptoms can change, especially in the first year. Mine did. It may sound like a good idea, but if you end up with an ai attack that lasts a month you're going to...
  6. Okay, well... Since he's iga deficient you are limited on the blood work. I really don't know if more are available igg. The fact that he's iga deficient is interesting. The low/ish iron and d are consistent with celiac. The high sed rate and phosphates are consistent with autoimmune/Celiac. Id ask for another biopsy and ENSURE they take apx ...
  7. Don't buy ANY gluten-free flour in bulk til you test it for taste and reaction first!!! Buy a small bag first, try it out.
  8. That low d will make her feel pretty tired, and inhibit her from absorbing and using vitamins, minerals, and hormones. Supplament! And low d is common with Celiac and hypothyroidism.
  9. Excellent point! Have you checked this list? Open Original Shared Link
  10. When I read about DH and iodine I was cooking shrimp. I closed the web browser and said "hell no, that's not ME!". A few days later I broke out again. I don't think it was the shrimp, I think it was a multivitamin with IODINE...but nevertheless.... That's how I figured it out. Everyone is different. You may only need a short time, you never know...
  11. Celiac doesn't typically PRESENT with a "crash" like that but it can be TRIGGERED by it. Obviously, she has a lot going on and you are justifiably very concerned. I know they're just bans-aids but try giving her probiotics and digestive enzymes. Regardless of food intolerances, I'm sure her GI tract is a mess after the doxy. I suggest asking for...
  12. I would assume (and you know what they say about that) a biopsy on steroids would be the same as blood work/endoscopy??? Maybe take it when you come off dapsone (but then you'd be gluten-free....)?? Sigh.
  13. Oh squirmy, I'm so sorry to hear you got "got". Effing carageenan!!!! Ugh. Btw I had a small breakout from this stomach bug. Nothing like yours, though. Took me a while to figure out what was happening....sometimes I'm slow .
  14. A study about iodine. I haven't seen an official study about a low iodine diet, but the extrapolation is there. Open Original Shared Link Here's an article about it https://www.celiac.com/articles/177/1/The-Gluten-Intolerance-Group-of-North-America-on-Iodine-and-Dermatitis-Herpetiformis/Page1.html You must be very careful about gluten. A CRUMB can set...
  15. Perhaps from crumbs on the table, benches? I find pizza parlors frequently have greasy seats and tables. All it would take is touching a surface with a crumb...getting it on papers, purse, etc....and it making its way into your mouth. Flour in the air is a possibility, especially if you were near the kitchen. Or, you could have that nasty stomach bug...
  16. Hey there, We are contemplating a road trip from Tucson to Alamogordo to Albuquerque. I am in desperate need of safe restaurant recommendations, especially around Alamogordo. Any help is appreciated!
  17. Probiotics. Digestive enzymes with every meal. No refined carbs or starches. Make sure your supplaments are gluten-free. Maybe an anti-gas med? gluten-free med list: Open Original Shared Link
  18. Mix some refried beans with a bit of water to thin them out, pour them over chips. Add green onion and salsa. Yummy nachos. I know, the fresh salsa "junk" is freaky. So easy to make your own. Food processor, tomatoes, jalape
  19. So, working out today wasn't such a great idea. A very very light workout caused nausea for 6 hours. Can't wait to do it again tomorrow. Yay.
  20. Thanks for telling me about the digestive enzyme testing. I don't know if they'll schedule an endoscopy prior to the visit. I am going in with new labs, that's a plus. Of course, I have no idea what they'll say... Maybe after I get the labs I'll call and see if they'll set it up. As it turns out we both had a stomach virus- which, interestingly enough...
  21. Do you have a corn issue? Xanthan gum is usually corn derived, Corn Chex..... Frequently, when gluten is removed we expose other intolerances that have been lurking under the gluten umbrella. There is a study that's been posted on this board about a percentage of Celiacs that are also sensitive to corn.
  22. Well, yay! Hope the dapsone works and you can proceed with testing. Do they really think 2 weeks off steroids is enough time?
  23. I suggest reading the ingredients. Potatoes are a vegetable, but are considered a starch and are high in carbs. High starch/carbs give lots of people gas. Doesn't mean the boxed potatoes didnt contain gluten, but I'd check the ingredients. Don't assume it was gluten (like you shouldn't assume a procrssed food is gluten-free).
  24. I haven't made the rolls, but have made the focaccia and sticks.
  25. Ive had a stomach bug for a week, and if my son wouldn't have had it at the same time I would have thought it was gluten or something else. No fever and off/on D. Nausea. Digestive enzymes help, as do probiotics. Cramping after/during eating. Bloating. Worked out this morning and don't advise it - thought I was over it til then. I don't know how to...
