  1. I have to agree that I guess that would be a personal choice, me myself, I wouldn't eat it. I'm pretty sensitive and avoid any possibility of contamination if possible. It's all in how sensitive she is. I'm not sure how you would gauge if it's hurting her or not, if she's silent. Hopefully someone else can chime in that has some experience in that area.
  2. Hmmm, I'm leary of it being made of barley, I doubt i try it for that reason I guess. I'm pretty sensitive so I try to avoid at all cost lol
  3. My friend used to sell the Visalis (sp) stuff, she claimed it was gluten-free, I have no real idea though, you could check it out. I do use a protein shake as a supplement after exercise it is called Body Fortress chocolate. It is gluten free, and tastes pretty good. I blend it with almond milk, and sometimes some strawberries.
  4. Hey, us gluten free-ers have to stick together!
  5. I would start by making sure you're cleaning your produce well before ingesting, there is no gluten in fruits or veggies, but who knows what else could be on there or who touched it before you and what was on their hands!? Ugh, horrid thought. Also, keep track of how you feel when you eat certain items, you may find that you're sensitive to certain items...
  6. Oh hunny I'm sorry your feeling have been hurt by these people. Sometimes I think they say things like that because they have absolutely NO IDEA what we're talking about. Some ofcourse, are just being rotten but others really just don't know how to respond or how to process the info. I'm sorry you had to go through that, I'd be glad to hear your progress...
  7. Haha same goes for here, snow for half the year some years, a little less if we get lucky! Tonight I'm making homemade General Tso's chicken with broccoli and rice.
  8. Does any one do yoga to help with GI symptoms? If so, what type and could you recommend a dvd to use that you enjoy?
  9. Yes I noticed that as well, but crazy as it sounds I was thinking about brownies today and how I don't have a recipe! Crazy or what?! Looks like I found some haha too random!!
  10. Portland Oregon or Portland Maine? LOL if it's Maine I'll be in the look out for it!!
  11. Agreed! My thoughts completely!!
  12. When I think back I can remember having tonsillitis atleast twice a year, always too anemic to give blood, but it was when I was in college that started to notice the GI issues. Between stress of classes and living the college life of no sleep, parties, and studying I was always down for the count. I mentioned it to my doc at the time, a few times, who said...
  13. 90's, sunny and humid here in Maine! Phew it's pretty warm! Luckily I'm camping and enjoying the heat!
  14. The reccomendation is usually to stay on gluten until the testing is done, I'm not positive on the genetic marker issue. A lot of times people are put on what they call a gluten challenge, basically eating gluten(and being miserable unfortunately) before being tested to ensure there's enough in the system to give appropriate results. I think it varies by...
  15. I couldn't agree more, that's exactly how you have to think about it! Good luck!!?
  16. I'm not really much for putting heat to food either, and I do crock pot somethings. I tend to take out what I want of the meal and freeze the rest in individual containers, so when I need another meal it's all ready to go just needs to be heated! I do eat a lot of salads, hummus and veggies, and fruit. Summer time almost everything goes on the grill, there...
  17. Did you get any of those symptoms before you increasesd your dose? And did you choose to increase the dose or did your PCP make that decision? ?
  18. Yummm cheesecake ? funny how something's catch your attention, huh??
  19. Help with the kissing or the eating out?? Haha ? I learned cross contamination by kissing the hard way, phew that only took me once!! Now eating out is a tough subject, you have got to find a place you can trust. I live in a small town and the restaurants here are owned by people I've become friends with, easy to get aroun gluten when they are well informed...
  20. I haven't seen it either but what was your senators thought process on that one?
  21. Saw the preview for Ted today, that's a must see! Haha looks hilarious!
  22. Has anyone seen the previews for Hope Springs?? It looks SOOOO GOOD!! I've always been a Meryl Streep fan anyway, she's just awesome and Tommy Lee Jones isn't half bad for a...well...old guy? hehe Can't wait to see it, Steve Carrell is even in it, playing a therapist! Funny though, when I see him I flashback to the 40 Year Old Virgin haha "Aaaaaahhhhhh!!...
  23. I do!! OMG is the new season on!?
  24. I make a trail mix like this using either a gluten-free granola or chex, with nuts and dried fruit, the glue is honey and peanut butter melted together. I sometimes eat it as a granola bar, or just chunky trail mix or put it on ice cream....and no, I'm not opposed to ice cream for breakfast sometimes!! ?
