  1. I agree with what itchy said.
  2. P.S. I'm very glad to hear that she solved the problem by changing lotions.
  3. Not really a factor where on her body she gets the rash. DH is dh & can appear anywhere on the body. Example in time progression over 3 or 4 years: I first had the odd blister on the backs of my hands. Later I had it on the backs of my calves --- one or two here & there. Then it would appear on my thighs. Then a few in my scalp. Then they became...
  4. Jones Dairy makes a line of gluten-free products. Here is a link to their website. Click on the drop down menu for gluten-free & it will take you to the gluten-free products page listing. Open Original Shared Link Having dh, I wanted to know about the salt they use so I sent them an email. Here is the reply: Thank you for taking the time to...
  5. First off for at least the first 3 months you need to be eating whole foods. Meats, fresh or frozen fruits & veggies but NOT with anything mixed in with them if they're frozen. And NO oatmeal. This will give you gut time to begin healing while being kind to it & not overloading it. Also, during that time you can read here & learn about all the...
  6. Add some peanut butter to the rice cake. I'm eating one right now. That will give you approx. 8 grams of protein.
  7. Steak, pancakes, flax toast with nutella & a migraine.
  8. Chuck, I'm not trying to stir the pot or cry wolf but I got to thinking...... The 1st time you posted here you said your wife was a chef & that she wanted to do a trial month gluten-free diet because of her rash. But that when the month was up she was still itching like a madwoman. Now you mention that she is a pastry chef. This puts a whole new light...
  9. Here is one test to find out if it is allergy related. If you take say Benadryl or an antihistamine & the rash goes away then it is not dh. Although antihistamines may give some relief from the itching of dh they will not make the dh go away. DH is the itchiest thing you've ever known. It is relentless. I do believe a person could literally go insane...
  10. I haven't tried the cream of rice but have tried the Pocono cream of buckwheat & find it to be very similar to cream of wheat. If you use sweetener & milk it's like cream of wheat but if you use salt & butter it's like grits.
  11. That was my first thought too.
  12. And lucky Chucky you; your wife is a chef! I bet she makes you some lip smacking gluten-free food. Hey, maybe she'll decide to open a gluten-free restaurant. Congratulations on getting a diagnosis & yes, there are worse things to have. Celiacs do it without medication!
  13. Terrific suggestion love2 about the can opener. I wonder how many people get glutened by a can opener? Hmmmmm.... makes me wonder about restaurants.
  14. A resounding YES! Whole foods only for a while. At least 3 months.
  15. YUM! YUM! YUM! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..... That's the spirit Shelley. Go girl!
  16. Breast of chicken marinated in Italian dressing (homemade) & then baked. Potatoes baked & then cut in half, studded with butter & a nice sharp cheddar cheese & then baked again until browned & crispy. I can't have the butter or cheese so mine was treated with a little coconut oil & lightly sprinkled with grated parmesan cheese...
  17. A lot of celiacs also have problems with soy. I am one of those. Bloating, gas. I quit soy & it went away.
  18. Wonderful! That's the attitude to take. I'm sorry to hear about your husband. It's always hard to lose a loved one. You survived that; you can survive this. It's always overwhelming in the beginning. In fact I've been through the overwhelming feeling & came out the other side & then went through a 2nd one. I would look at your situation...
  19. Get well soon! (((chill)))
  20. Yes, I order from Vitacost. I have placed quite a few orders with them & I have no complaints with the condition upon arrival & I've ordered pasta & breads too. I am beginning to branch out & try things from other online companies such as Nuts online (now just -- nuts.com). I also order Larabars online --- best price I've found is from Drugstore...
  21. Yes. It is more than possible & is in fact quite likely. It has happened before. And you must be careful that you clean under their nails very well to get it all out. Otherwise it will sit under there & come back to haunt you.
  22. Began with flax toast with nutella on it. Then later a banana. Then later a bowl of cream of buckwheat. Then later an egg white with sausage in it.
  23. I can't answer your question as to how long it takes to get the results back from the blood tests at the GI. And I think that depends too on what country you're in. I'm assuming the US because I'm associating your screen name of Rushmore with Mt. Rushmore. Since you are presently eating gluten my advice would be to get the blood tests from the GI plus...
  24. Yes, you possibly have celiac. You mention loads of tests. Tell us what tests you've had.
  25. Alex's breakfast DOES sound delish ~~~ ANY time of day or night! I'm going to have to try almond flour myself. Biscuits --- ohhhhh I miss my biscuits. Since I began cooking as a kid I've always made my own biscuits. And they weren't drop biscuits either. Rolling pin & biscuit cutter -- what you'd call baking powder biscuits. Well Marilyn I got to...
