Not getting any reponses on the "symtoms" board so I will ask over here. My dd doesn't have intestinal symptoms at all. But last night, she left youth group at church early saying she felt like she was going to throw up. We left and she cried for 15 min. with it and never threw up or went to the bathroom. Then it went away as fast as it came on. She...

ARCHIVED High Eosinophils

I know this sounds horrible, but you were kinda lucky you got food stuck. That is a big symptom and you could keep a food diary and find out what it was. She has nothing. No stuck food, no belly pain, no vomiting, nothing. I will have to scope her every 3 months according to one doctor and the 2nd opinion doesn't want to scope unless there is symptoms... -
ARCHIVED Traveling Gluten-Free
1974girl replied to jorgensenjess's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I wouldn't go gluten free until you see if your son will need a biopsy. You have to be on gluten for it to be correct. So go on your trip as normal until you hear back about blood work and biopsies. -
ARCHIVED Is This The Typical Process For Testing?
1974girl replied to Clarabelle's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Did you have the gene testing? That might help some. I know other things can mimic celiac blunting. I just freaked out watching a video from a celiac conference in Australia where the man said if the doctors cut the biopsy the wrong way then he can actually be the cause of the blunting. Never thought of that! I guess a doc could whack off the villi. But... -
I say that tongue in cheek of course. I have a friend who has Lyme disease. You can tell her any symptom and she will tell you that you should get checked for Lyme disease. It seems we kinda do that in the celiac community, too! I don't even have it myself but my daughter does. But I find myself telling people they should get checked. "My joints hurt...

ARCHIVED High Eosinophils
1974girl replied to MoMof2Boyz's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Well I have a GIRL with EoE. She will be 12 this month. Her eos count was 46 and she has absolutely ZERO symptoms. But then again she doesn't have any for celiac either. We go back in one week from today to have her 6 month celiac check and then we will decide what to do with the EoE. I have been avoiding all the foods she tested pos. on skin for in... -
I have no idea but I searched this forum for you and found where 2 yrs ago someone recommended a Dr. Shirley Donelson out of Jackson, MS. My dh is from MS but not that area.

The only thing I would add is that some "mini" versions are NOT gluten free. For example the butterfinger minis (unwrapped) are not. Reeces says that the ones in holiday shapes are NOT gluten free although I didn't find it on the label at Easter. I wonder if they flour the molds or belt. Not sure. So you have to check every size! We have VBS this week... -

ARCHIVED Here Is The Rundown... Can You Tell Me What You Think?
1974girl replied to KathrynB's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Also, when my daughter went for her celiac biopsy, they found eosinophils in her esphagus, too. Apparently that is not uncommon. There are others here that have found that too! Just curious, what did they tell you to do about that? I have gotten conflicting info from my child's doctor. But back to you...have you had the gene testing? That would be very... -

It took me 3 weeks to find out that the Walgreens brand of liquid Zytec (Wal-Zyr) is gluten free. I use the website glutenfreedrugs.com a lot. Good luck. There is a Congressman from Ohio trying to make gluten identified in drugs. But I am not sure it even made it out of the first stage! UGGG! As more of Congress has relatives with celiac, I feel certain... -
1 )I have no idea. Sorry. We would starve if my dd had to eat veggies. She hates them and I have to practically force them down her. 2)I haven't had my daughter's vitamin level checked but my mom's doctor told me he has not seen one person come back without a vitamin D problem. This is just a regular doctor. But...since celiacs can often go with increased...

We didn't have a very educated Outback employee either. When they brought my dd plate there was a fry on it. Now, in all fairness, it could have fallen off my DH's entree onto hers as they were carrying the tray. But we were not sure and made them remake it. 2nd- I love Red Robin. It is the only place around here that my daughter can get a "real... -
ARCHIVED The Latest In Coeliac Disease Research

Believe it or not, I watched most of this! It was long but informative. I would love for the USA to get into research as much as Australia. The "vaccine" was so intriguing. I will dream of that day! They said they were about 6 years away from it going to market. You have to only have the DQ2 gene and my celiac child has DQ2 and DQ8 which would knock... -
ARCHIVED 2 Testing Questions
1974girl posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Ok...my girls go back to the GI on the 17th. This will be the 6th month mark. I have a few questions. 1) Celiac child (12 this month) had the EMA antibody. Will that go away or once positive always positive. I don't know if I should ask for that to be retested or not. 2) 9 year old sister tested negative in biopsy (only 1 though) and in blood... -
ARCHIVED Doctor Said It Is Not Celiac, Likely Ibs
1974girl replied to BuckeyeGirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My family doctor recommends a gluten free diet for IBS anyway. My family has "IBS" everywhere and some of us have tested negative for celiac. So I don't know what is going on. My great-great-grandfather was sent home from the Civil War because his diarreah was contaminating the camp! -

((((((HUGS))))) from another mom whose been there. My daughter did the scope this past December. She is 11. Honestly, it would have been so much easier to find out at 2. She knows what it is like to have sleepovers with pizza and donuts for breakfast. She is having a hard time feeling different. HOWEVER, my friend's son has been gluten free since 2... -
We go to Chick Fil-A more than we should probably. Our local one's owner has celiac. She also works there. She tells me what my daughter can and can't have. She told me that the grilled nuggets kids meal was so safe that I could go through a drive through and not have to explain everything. They use seperate tongs to get out the nuggets and not gloves...

My 2 kids both have this on their cheeks. One since birth. I thought it was baby acne that never went away but the doc said it was KP. She is now 9 and had it constantly. I never associated it with gluten. HUM....... Very interesting. My celiac child's KP is much better now after 6 months but it is also summer and it seems to disappear anyway in the... -

So my husband signed up at church to take the girls to a food bank to pack food. He takes them away on Thursdays so I can do a women's Bible study. Anyway...he comes home and my celiac child has cereal all over her. Corn pops. So I am thinking everything is fine until he tells me it has wheat flour in it. (I have never looked because I hate them) They...

Ok...just decided to make a new thread out of it! My dd misses donuts more than any other food. These aren't Dunkin Donuts but they are still yummy! 2 cups gluten-free Bisquick 3 Tablespoons sugar 1/2 cup milk (soy, rice, cow) 1 t. ground cinnamon 1 t. vanilla extract 1 egg beaten 1/2 cup seedless raspberry jam (optional) In a large bowl, mix...

ARCHIVED Fried Chicken Nuggets --- Crispy! Help! Recipe Please!
1974girl replied to squirmingitch's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I see you have plenty of good advice but I thought I'd throw mine out there. We batter everything in egg and roll in the gluten free bisquik. I make the best motzerella sticks that way, too. Just buy the string cheese...dip in egg, bisquik, egg, bisquik and deep fry. (double battering keeps the batter from just floating off in the deep fryer) I don't... -

We love Fruity Pebbles and Coco Pebbles. Also, I second the Chex and Rice Krispies. Although, my Publix has the gluten-free Rice Krispies on CLEARANCE. I am hoping that they are not quiting making them! I will be so sad.
