  1. This is the recipe (I think) she threw at me when I was complaining about my MIL's sauce. It is positively divine. (I couldn't find veal so I used lamb... tragic!) http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/mario-batali/ragu-bolognese-recipe2/index.html Also, here's a video of him making it because I'm a visual learner. That may be a lie, I may just have a crush...
  2. I buy hay for my bunny. We buy alfalfa, timothy or plain old grass hay, whatever is cheap because Freya isn't picky. There are some grasses that look remarkably similar to wheat but aren't wheat. I keep the hay (an entire bale) in a large tote in my living room with my bunny who has a large "bunny condo" in the living room. Hay gets all over the room. I do...
  3. In theory my husband is bringing me some Tyson nuggets tonight. I have some Alexia sweet potato tots in the freezer too. Those will be supper tonight and probably tomorrow too. I'm just thrilled right now that I can eat at all. I had a stupid lumbar puncture on Wednesday and got the headache when I got out of bed on Thursday when I tried to get out of...
  4. I'm only out of bed for a few minutes right now. I do live with a wheat eater and can give lots of tips and pointers and will do so at some point tomorrow when I'm allowed out of bed for more than 5 or 10 minutes at a time. Right now I need to get back to bed before my husband gets home and catches me and I get in trouble.
  5. I love me some pumpkin anything, and since I can't go running off to every shake shop in town this will be a great alternative. Of course, I make a killer pumpkin pie shake at home and as soon as it stops being a bazillion degrees every day we can start having them again. Not sure why, it just feels wrong to have pumpkin anything while its hot out.
  6. Love love love Winco! That is where I get my pasta. They have penne and several types of macaroni, but I just get the brown rice one. They have spaghetti too but I didn't like it.
  7. I buy things from more than one store in the area that sells in bulk. The key is in how you do it. Rather than buying out of the bin, I purchase an entire package at a time. This means things like 25 pounds of corn starch or salt. I buy my pasta in 10 pound boxes. However the store receives it to put into the bulk bins is how I buy it. The bonus to this is...
  8. I would suggest contacting them through their website. I remember back when I was a smoker at one point I worked in a factory and the workforce there was more than 50% Indonesian immigrants. Most smoked Djarum clove cigarettes. Don't ask me how, but their families sent them to them at far less then the price a pack of smokes and I would buy a few packs from...
  9. Since I my stupid body is all "zomg cheese is bad" I love doing the ricotta cheese sauce thing even for pasta! I skip the shrooms and just do garlic, butter and cheese + pasta. It is generally awesome and I never thought of using it as a pizza sauce but that would be really good. I actually just mix the cheese right into the butter and garlic and usually...
  10. Because the gluten free and no gluten ingredient Frito Lay products are all run on the same lines and the difference is on that some are tested, some aren't, I eat whichever ones I want. I'm quite confident that they adhere to the same manufacturing processes no matter what they are running. I have never gotten sick from a Frito Lay product no matter if I...
  11. Pasta alfredo shouldn't have milk, cream or any other such thing in it. Pasta. Butter. Cheese. Salt. Pepper. Dinner. If you absolutely have to have a sauce with a dairy product, heavy cream is the way to go, milk will just make a gross and runny sauce. It won't need a thickener. The recipe Karen posted isn't much different from what I would use if I had to...
  12. I agree that what truly matters is what the product is and what else is being manufactured. When it comes to things like flours that linger in the air, get in every nook and cranny and generally are nigh impossible to clean from every surface I don't take chances. With other things, I am more willing to give companies a chance. I do go a step farther than...
  13. omg... I totally forgot something my husband thought up that he calls pizzadillas. Probably reheatable in a microwave. We just make quesadillas with corn tortillas with mozzarella, pizza sauce and pepperoni. I go with the thinnest layer of sauce so they aren't messy, or you could probably just use sauce for dipping too. They're really good and do taste like...
  14. I'm thinking that long nights playing poker aren't much different from long nights playing Magic. This is the sort of thing I would bring. Open Original Shared Link Or just this and tortillas and/or Snyder's gluten free pretzels which no other brand comes close to. Not even Glutino. My husband even kinda prefers them to regular pretzels. Open...
  15. I was at the store today and remembered having noticed this thread. I saw a huge turkey roll of ground turkey and checked it. No natural flavors added that I could find, the brand was Carolina Turkey.
  16. Okay... I'm not crazy and I didn't call them that for the lolz. (Although it is pretty funny.) And no, the chicken can not have his balls back. http://www.thebakingbeauties.com/2009/02/gluten-free-chinese-style-chicken-balls-with-sweet-and-sour-sauce.html They look and taste exactly like Chinese takeout when they're done. I'm already kinda trying...
  17. I was actually thinking about her when I was layin in bed last night unable to fall asleep. She hasn't been pokin her nose in and I was wondering what's up. I write years on what I put in the freezer for a reason. Sometimes things end up in the bottom and eventually one day I'll end up all the way down there again and be like when the hell did this end...
  18. I used to work in some factories, which as you can imagine are pretty dusty places. I would always end a shift blowing my nose and ending up with tissues full of dark, dusty snot. I would cough up the same stuff. I'm not suggesting there is gluten in paper, but just because of the amount of dust a large shredding job would kick into the air I would wear a...
  19. I made this tonight in mine. I sprinkle cornmeal in the pan before I pour in the batter. I only make half because that is what fits in one pan. I've thought about getting a large cast iron griddle and using this recipe to make burger bun rounds. I found this recipe floating somewhere around the internet but I have no idea now where. I'm just gonna copy/paste...
  20. Explain to me how it helps me to be gluten free and safe to have a bunch of hipster morons eating sort of, kinda, but not really gluten free. Because that is how they do it you know. They don't take it seriously, they don't take CC seriously, and they endanger the rest of us with their half-assed approach every time they do something stupid. They go to restaurants...
  21. I was a member of the Lions back in PA. I haven't joined here, idk why. It was so much fun! They do the coolest stuff. And the district I lived in is where that camp is that kids from all over the country go to. They do ones for kids with particular types of cancer or diseases or disabilities and we were super involved with that. It was incredibly awesome...
  22. Wipes for sure. As pointed out the sanitizer does nothing. Totally a side not but not sure if this is relating to school or not due to the time of year, but if so, get your 504 plan changed. Your child absolutely MUST have the right to go the restroom to wash as needed. Wipes will do in a pinch, like on a field trip and such or when out of the house,...
  23. Open Original Shared Link Is that what you were looking for?
  24. Look at that. Men without pants sure know how to kill a party. Tonight we're having pork chops with some sort of veggie thing and apple fries. Not just apples cut up into sticks, but actually deep fried and then sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. Its basically like eating straight pie filling, only somehow better. I keep going back and forth on some Brazilian...
  25. If you use steel wool, or any other abrasive on your cast iron, you will basically scrape off all of the old seasoning and such making it pointless to even be using cast iron. Abrasives should NEVER be used on cast iron under any circumstances unless you intend to strip and reseason the pan. Also, some oils will just leave a pan sticky no matter what...
