  1. In the same way that people can have a problem with shared equipment and CC with gluten, the same can be true of oats, even gluten free oats. The manufacturer isn't trying to prevent CC because why should they? Everything is gluten free anyway so who cares right? You can test the oats thing pretty easily to find out by just eating a little.
  2. I have no doubt that both cookie brands are truly gluten free. I looked at both websites and both look like they are baked in gluten free bakeries. My suspicion, especially after what you said about timing is the oats. Some of us are peachy with oats, some of us not so much. You may be a not so much kinda person. Do you know if you do oats ok or not?
  3. My first thought would be that you got glutened while home. My second thought is that if you don't do oats, you probably shouldn't be eating the Ginny Bakes cookies, even if they aren't the ones that have oats in them. The reaction would likely be the same in either case (if you react to oats), but only you know when you started eating the cookies.
  4. Apparently my husband's boss thought it would be hilarious (or something) to schedule him for three days coming into work at like 5 or 6 in the morning. Which means we get up at like 3 or 4 for him to get ready. Not my idea of fun times. So it is almost 7:30, I've already got a pork roast in the crockpot for pulled pork for dinner. Been to the store...
  5. I'm far too lazy to make my own dressings. I buy Brianna's brand, which is soy and msg free. Some, not all are gluten free but ingredients are obvious and you can check their website. If I know I am going somewhere that the only safe thing is a salad (assuming some complete jackass doesn't put croutons on it no matter how many times I say not to) I will bring...
  6. I don't eat out particularly often, and it isn't because of celiac and gluten. The much more difficult problem to deal with is soy, which you said you can't have. And on top of that I know others have said that diary is as much, if not more of a pain than soy to deal with when eating out. If you check the Chipotle you'll find that almost everything that...
  7. Indian rice grass doesn't mean from India. It is native to North America and is called that because of the native American kind of Indians, not the from India kind. Just to save you the trouble of looking for it somewhere you won't find it.
  8. You won't even need to. Before you know what's even going on it'll be like 2 degrees there again, maybe even before we get there. I'm not going anywhere near you and your arctic circle living! I kept asking my husband what he wants for supper and he didn't know. Then he texted me after he got to work and told me In N Out. Not arguing. Now I'm just trying...
  9. That's a lot of rain! I wish we could get some rain that doesn't come with lightning. If you guys get sick of it, send it this way. I swear, most of the people here don't even know what rain is. Sometimes they call things I wouldn't even deem worthy of the word "sprinkle" rain.
  10. All fine here. One of the worst is up near Park City, which I'm nowhere near. That is all touristy and such, I've actually never even been there. There is another relatively bad one that is all the way out near Tooele, so the middle of nowhere, but we can see the smoke all the way down here near Orem. It was pretty thick and brown yesterday when we headed...
  11. Just a couple pork chops and some corn tonight. Didn't have the energy to do more. Hopefully tomorrow will look brighter. With us around, we'd probably hurt ourselves trying to get the bread. I'll save myself the injury and embarrassment and just stay home.
  12. You killed a mint plant?!?! You will be revered and feared by all plant-kind as the goddess of death now.
  13. Open Original Shared Link You may find this surprisingly lacking when you check what is and is not on their gluten free list. The only dark chocolate listed is the baking chips, cocoa and syrup. So if you had a chocolate bar, that could very well be your problem.
  14. Open Original Shared Link If they are Smarties brand this will cover your question. Just check the UPC against what the website says, or keep a note of the UPC in your phone since everything starting with that UPC is safe and you'll be able to identify the safe ones easily.
  15. For cabinets, they make child safety locks that open only with a magnet that comes with it. You could just put one of those child safety locks on your own cabinet and then keep the magnet with you. It would be far too much hassle for anyone to try to break into it. We have ones similar to this on our cabinets, actually for the purpose of keeping children...
  16. Do you have utensils that people leave alone? I know it isn't ideal but I have a large slotted ladle that I use when I've been too lazy to wash my colander. Look... this is what happens when people don't have dishwashers after being spoiled with them for years. Sometimes I just don't get to it and don't realize it isn't clean until suddenly I need it, like...
  17. I've been thinking about making brownies. I should get to that. I'm thinking stuffed peppers, which I know my husband will not eat. Definitely some corn. And idk what else for him, maybe a chicken breast or something I can just bake since the oven will be on anyway. I shoulda just planned on coming to somebody's house for dinner. Everybody else is making...
  18. I share a house with gluten eaters. IMO sponges are evil. They're nasty dirty things that just hold germs and are cesspools of bacteria. Worse though, is when you share a house, once they are contaminated they are useless. Dishcloths on the other hand can be laundered. I have a stash of several dozen. When I make food I simply wash the counter, twice, the...
  19. I'm not going to blow sunshine and rainbows up your butt, because I'm just not like that. I have been successfully gluten free because I have a wonderfully supportive husband. I suppose I could have also done it alone. What I could not have done was manage this fighting him every step of the way, especially with him not being gluten free. We have a shared...
  20. My husband texted me before I headed out to cut corn. He went to Del Taco for lunch and got the brilliant idea to make his chicken/cheddar/bacon/ranch sandwiches into quesadillas. So I told him to bring home some tortillas since we were out and I would massacre the rest of that Costco chicken and find us some bacon. They were really good, even if I shouldn...
  21. Last night we had breakfast for supper. Pancakes, eggs and bacon. My husband love love loves my pancakes and keeps requesting them. Last time I made them there were two left and when I went and had them later that night as a snack he whined about it a little that there were none left for him. This time I made sure there were enough left to feed him breakfast...
  22. Last iron infusion day. YAY! Feeling like hell, but have absolutely can not be put off things to do this afternoon so while I'm out anyway I'm picking up a Costco chicken. (I was going to Costco anyway cause their sale on San Pellegrino starts today, my husband just keeps rolling his eyes at me and my water preferences.) We'll grab some corn out of the yard...
  23. Seriously. The OP when it was first written was basically "my relationship is SO BORING because we NEVER do anything EVER..... WAAAAAAAAA" and sounded pretty much like the only concern in the world was about how positively droll her life was. There was plenty of information shared before she came back with the fact that it is difficult to find time to...
  24. I agree with this 100%. You were given completely sound advice. You basically said you were bored with the relationship because you two don't go out and do anything. You didn't elaborate on why that is exactly, only saying that you were blaming celiac. Yes, many here have loving and supportive SOs, and many also have been abandoned and treated poorly by people...
  25. Suggest things that don't involve food? And try planning things on his days off? I know that I don't try to make plans on days that my husband works, even if it is a short shift. He works hard and I don't want to put more on him on an already hard day.
