  1. Black bean quesedilla's with mushrooms and probably will try spreading some avocado in lieu of daiya fake cheese.
  2. lol measuring :-p Frozen banana, coconut yogurt (vanilla or strawberry), frozen or fresh strawberries, orange juice. That's a standard, I deviate from it a lot though. I used to put ice in but I had to get rid of my old icecube trays and haven't gotten around to getting new ones. Frozen fruit, especially frozen banana, makes the best smoothies IMO. If...
  3. Dairy is definitely a thing to stop if you haven't already, seeing as you have pain in your stomach and that's a standard symptom of lactose intolerance. If that doesn't remedy it within a week or so, I would go to a doctor. There's a lot more than just celiac that causes stomach pain.
  4. They may have mixed you up with another patient who has more than a 'wee' lump in their throat.
  5. Ok, so I never wear hairspray or gel or put product in my hair, but I'm getting married and I need my hair to hold for over 12 hours. Should I worry if there's gluten in the hairspray or other product a stylist might put in? I don't have any topical reaction to gluten. I'm thinking it shouldn't matter because once it's dried it's pretty stiff and I'm assuming...

    ARCHIVED Is This Diagnosis Accurate

"I would respectfully point out that there are also diagnosed celiacs who have no intestinal damage, in whom the gluten has reacted upon their brains causing among other things migraines and gluten ataia, and in whom it has reacted on their skins causing dermatitis herpetiformis." I don't believe it's celiac disease then? Yes, this is purely semantics...
  7. Floss seems a likely candidate. It might not be gluten in the floss either, just something else you have a topical reaction to. Do you have any or used to have DH? What about other regular allergies?
  8. I definitely notice that lactose makes me run to the bathroom, but I have also personally noticed other symptoms to non-lactose dairy, starting immediately with a dry-tongue eventually followed by feeling achy or like I'm getting a flu. Almond milk, soy milk and coconut milk are all very tasty alternatives. (Just double-check for gluten in whatever brands...
  9. I find I spend less on food now than I did before I was diagnosed because I simply don't eat out because I can't trust anywhere. (For instance, I went to BP shortly after my diagnosis, and my gluten-free pizza had a piece of chicken with BBQ sauce on it. I didn't order any chicken on my pizza. If they can't avoid the big things, how on earth can I expect...
  10. "I'm lucky to be a “silent” celiac who doesn't have an extreme reaction to gluten but I'll know the damage is on the inside and increases the risks of worse things happening to me down the road." Huh, I always thought silent celiac meant no symptoms, not just not immediate reaction to gluten. But reading your next post, you did have issues that eventually led...
  11. "My question is whether celiac can be a causing factor of the lack of these antibodies or not?" I haven't heard anything about celiac and inability/lack of those antibodies being connected. I would be surprised if someone has researched that specifically, but I do think that a starting for a study like that could be conducted using already existing data...
  12. Having celiac disease doesn't rule you out from having other gastrointestinal issues that a scope might see, (although the 3 month diet to make yourself sicker, I agree, is stupid.) In fact it seems to increase the liklihood of things like crohn's, which I believe needs to be viewed from inside to diagnose properly too?
  13. Any doctor worth their pay would do a biopsy if you think you have gluten issues. I strongly recommend this, especially (although definitely not only) since you didn't say the blood test was negative.
  14. Every description and picture that I've read/seen about celiac disease is that ulcers aren't what celiac disease looks like. On the other hand, crohn's disease does have ulcers. Weird it's only in the small intestine, but as the doctors said, not impossible. Another thing, since you do have ulcers in your small intestine, (a break in your intestine's barrier...
  15. Sounds like your gluten-free store caters to diabetics too persei v. It explains why there isn't sugar in those goodies. As to manufactured goodies having chemicals in them, well yes, of course they will. If you add baking soda to homemade goodies and you're using chemicals. And of course the manufactured foods have to have a shelf life. And I would expect...
  16. Sound to me like 1 manufacturer of glutinous rice flour is cross contaminated with gluten and furthermore, that it is a/the large manufacturer of "Glutinous Rice Flour", verbatim, where you live. Another allergy/intolerance doesn't make a lot of sense when you can have rice in all other forms. You say you bake with a lot of your own ingredients, however...
  17. There's a very eye-opening documentary that's posted in the Publication/publicity subforum. It's about current genetically modified foods that are modified to either have pesticides in them or to manage to stay alive when pesitcides we would otherwise never use, are applied. There's all sorts of data that show these crops should never have made it out of...
  18. Tell your parents that celiac disease is an immune system response and remind them that the smallest of organisms, virii, are enough to make your immune system activate. A few virii in your body are miniscule compared to the amount of gluten in a crumb of bread. Also tell them that your doctor told you to avoid even the tiniest amount of gluten; even if they...
  19. I don't buy Kraft products for the same paragraph you posted. Well, I'd buy their guaranteed gluten-free stuff, not that I've ever seen it. Also there are multiple stories on here about Kraft representatives saying a product contains gluten even though the ingredient list says it doesn't.
  20. Where exactly are y'all getting your gluten free hot dogs minus bun from a food court??? I have a hard time getting gluten-free weiners from the grocery store.
  21. I just thought this might explain what I think might be a reaction to processed corn yet why the corn on the cob I eat is fine. I eat the local corn on the cob only. I eat whatever for processed corn. I will have to look into this further.
  22. I never knew anything about GMOs killing animals, or workers in South Africa getting sick/dying from eating the crop they feed their cattle, or new-found organisms created from it that are killing animals. Thank you for posting. The scariest thing to me is that despite there being government controls to avoid us ever getting something toxic or harmful...
  23. I would never take up a job where I would be baking with glutinous flours, and I don't have a topical reaction to gluten. Topical reactions, as mentioned above, are definitely a thing.
  24. You should get another endoscopy to see how well your intestines have healed too. I'm going to get one in a year's time, because that's standard practice. Well, actually 6-12 months was what my GI told me, but I told him I'd rather get one in a year because my damage was so extensive and I've read a lot about how long it can take to heal, and I don't want...
  25. I have not read the book. I have heard about the change in wheat from now and what it was. I don't think there's nearly enough evidence to indicate that wheat has caused all of these problems. This discussion reminds me of an interview I heard on CBC radio a few years back. It was about eating healthy and properly. The guest, a doctor of some sort, was...
