  1. I'll keep it posted. Nothing's going to happen quickly atm though. Waiting for my endoscopy and biopsy right now, and I think/hope I'm going to get a colonoscopy also, which I'm very happy for. Trying to eat lots of calcium to ward off oxalate kidney stones. (Open Original Shared Link)
  2. So I'm eating gluten again before my biopsy to make sure I am a celiac. (I chose this because I didn't feel much better after going gluten free), so I've been eating gluten for almost 3 weeks again. I have a lot more gas, and I'm more tired brain fog I think, kinda hard to tell. Anyways, never had upset stomach or diarrhea or anything immediate from eating...
  3. I was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy, which was tingling and eventually pain in my hands, feet and around my mouth, years before my celiac diagnosis. It was among one of the many symptoms that eventually led me to ask to be tested for celiac disease.
  4. I thought I might have been glutened cuz I felt like I had the flu and I had eaten something that may have contained gluten. Then my bf got the same symptoms, so it really was a flu.
  5. I bought lactose free milk thinking I'd be fine with that, but I think it gave me bloating too. It also makes my tongue feel funny and dry, makes it like my mouth's thirsty from it even though I don't really feel thirsty. I suggest a totally dairy free milk.
  6. When was the last time you went for a check-up? I suspect the celiac disease was diagnosed correctly, but you could have other health problems. Maybe you have a parasitic infection, or candida, or small intestinal cancer or lymph node cancer. There's a whole slew of health problems that are more likely to be seen with celiac disease. Or maybe you aren't...
  7. If all the stuff I've read about candida is true, like there's a protein in the fungus that's very similar to gluten, then this article makes perfect sense. I'm still very on the fence about candida...you'd think that with visuals like colonoscopies and endoscopies, a doctor would see the yeast overgrowth like they do when it's in the esophagus or outside...
  8. I wouldn't do that. a) it's unclear if it will actually work it may, as mommida says, not stay in your intestines. If it moves, not only will it definitely NOT help, it can embed in your liver or something. c) seems likely that wherever you'd buy these eggs from aren't actually going to be eggs, or they won't be viable eggs. Something ridiculous like...
  9. Well, the GI I saw recently told me I likely have IBS and celiac disease, yay me :-/ Reason being is I still have pain in left side of abdomen after being gluten-free for almost 3 months, which would relate to large intestine issues, not typical small intestine problems, which is odd because my overall bloating got better, so gluten-free diet was doing...
  10. Thanks for posting
  11. If you're a recently diagnosed celiac, you likely aren't absorbing the fat on the chips anyways, and if you do, it's still probably good for you :-p The sugar thing sounds like a medical issue really, and I would definitely go to your doctor about it. Sounds like you're almost a diabetic... Your weight should be a secondary concern to your no sugar shakes...
  12. Might I suggest you go visit a depression forum and going off antidepressants? Because what you're talking about seems like classic 'discontinuation' symptoms from many anti-depressants. (discontinuation in quotes because that's the official term for it...pharmaceutical companies felt that calling it withdrawal was too close to making them seem addictive...
  13. Also keep in mind that your wife might have a very sensitive nose. I mean, obviously it sucks if she finds you stinky, but take heart that it might not be an issue for everyone around you.
  14. If it were me, I would do a couple of re-tries of food before crossing it off fully. Maybe you caught a bug going around, maybe there was mold on your cheese that doesn't agree with you, maybe the packaging for the quinoa is fairly unique and you're reacting to that, maybe there was CC you didn't know about...there's a lot of possibilities. Washing it well...
  15. You should explain that even though someone's symptoms may be more or less severe, the immune reaction is still there, the physical damage to the intestines is still there. Geez, for a kid it's even more important to make sure they get all the nutrients they can get...it's almost scary how much of an effect what happens to us as kids has longterm effects...
  16. "It says that Alpa-Linolenic Acid (ALA-omega 3) deficiency can cause a variety of issues, including neurologic disorders and ear problems" I'm under the impression that ALA omega 3's aren't as useful as other forms of omega 3 because the body actually just converts the omega 3 ALA into the other forms...and if it can't convert it, which can be an issue...
  17. Yes your symptoms can get worse. In fact, I recall reading a thread just the other day on the forum that had a link to an abstract to a paper. The thread was about wishing some treatment used on mice were available for people to use, since the results were promising. When I read the abstract, I was actually more surprised about how they got gluten sensitive...
  18. So he called and said your genetic test was negative? Or was he saying he was actually wrong about your duodenum being damaged? If he had your duodenum test wrong, or accidentally messed up your results with someone else's or something, then you don't have celiac disease. If he called and said your genetic test was negative, I would still think you have...
  19. I'm no tax expert, but here's the gist of most canadian tax-deductions as I understand them. -you only pay income tax if you make over x dollars a year. This is true for both provincial and federal taxes. X will be different for both, and varies from province to province. You also only start paying money for each dollar ABOVE X. -tax deductions DO NOT...
  20. What larry mac said. Even if everything the OP said about the causes of celiac disease and how digestive enzymes could work, it doesn't make sense (or gives a resonable explanation as to why) that once a person's body is making the harmful antibodies in the gut or all mucosal membranes that it would suddenly stop making them because the 'pathogen' of gluten...
  21. I really think I should be testing myself for other food sensitivities at this point by doing elimination diets. But that's a hugely daunting task. I have very little willpower-it comes along with the lack of motivation and energy and enjoyment that are all typical of depression. It's especially bad because food is one of the few things I will/have almost...
  22. How do you do it? How do you figure it out? I know I'm a celiac because I had symptoms that when I searched for them online, made me get a doctor's diagnosis for it. But I never noticed anything from wheat or flour itself. The biggest thing I've ever noticed for me is that a ton of sugar (more than one serving of dessert amount of sugar/more than a glass...
  23. Is it from your mouth or you stomach? One test might be to lick your hand and then smell it, or get your wife to smell it, hah, since she's the person who can do a real comparison of the 2 smells. If your hand smells the same as your bad breath, I would just try to do/different better oral care. Are you sure you didn't say, change toothpastes around that...
  24. My fiances CPAP machine is pretty easy to travel with. It has a case that looks just like a lunch bag with a strap. His would be medium sized though. He has a mouth and nose mask, and there's a smaller one just for your nose. However, especially with the mouth and nose combo, people often need/want to moisturize the air that's constantly blowing in your...
  25. 3 months into gluten-free diet, now going back on gluten for the purposes of biopsy and endoscopy. I saw a GI yesterday and he didn't say I had to go back on gluten, but rather said if I wanted the confirmation of the biopsy that I should. If the majority of my symptoms that I have issues with, mood instability, pain in my left abdomen, fatigue, concentration...
