  1. Yeah, I had actually been thinking that the mono triggered my celiac. Then I remembered symptoms that came before mono. My sister thought I looked pregnant at 11 years old. The enamel came off my teeth when I had braces at 17. Maybe it was that awful case of chicken pox in 4th grade? Then again Maybe the chicken pox were "The second worse case" the doctor...
  2. I just had to tell someone. I recalled today that before I got a horrid case of mono when I was 19, I worked at a bakery. Perhaps my heavy gluten contact ( both eating and having cleaning sprees) are why my resistance was down. I remember how I felt so fatigued when I worked in a bakery. It grew worse after the mono. D
  3. I would think the wipes. They should be able to remove the gluten. The sanitizer just kills germs.
  4. I ended up banning buckwheat and discovered it was indeed a big problem for me. I am checking my nutrient absorption to check healing. It seems reasonable to me. Great progress has been made the past 7 months!
  5. You can make baked items with nut flour. Even my family is coming to like almond flour muffins and pie crusts. I hope your you and your son will enjoy a healthy life. D
  6. Mine surely did. I recall noticing my tummy bloating when I was in college. Did it bloat, or didn't it I wondered? Skip forward 30 years and my tummy often was mistaken for pregnant and nothing worked anymore to bring it down. Yet there were years when I felt fairly good for a while. I hope you will get off gluten soon My thought is it is not...
  7. I began my gluten free trek in about May of 2012. I did classic gluten free for a few months and then went grain free. Last November at about 6 months gluten free I had my first nutrient absorption test. In spite of my natural, whole food, organic diet, and many supplements my nutrient levels were low. Especially the Vitamin B levels were unacceptable. I...
  8. SUPER -Sensitive viewpoint which some may not share. I believe they do not worry about cross contamination at all. They don't put use wheat flour in their gluten free pizza recipe. I believe that is all it means. I think a pizza place is a place where flour is everywhere. Flour is in the air and on the work tables, I would never eat there, but personally...
  9. Greetings Litlle Bowl, What vitamins did you take? I happen to know from D experience that magnesium causes diarrhea and the body can be more touchy at first. If you are taking more than one, you might want to stop all, take a 4 day break, and then try one at a time. I say a 4 day break, because my functional Medicine Nurse tells me that it takes ...
  10. Woo HOO! Glad to hear you are already through testing. I think we understand about hoping for a positive result. That would mean a diet change will help you to feel better. That would mean a long list of symptoms that are not "In your head." Get well, and let us know if you need help with the diet. D
  11. Yes, I have had blood pressure issues. My blood pressure would drop as I stood up and stay down. I felt like I was crashing. Yet, I overall had high blood pressure. This came down with supplements, but it is always higher when the doctor's office takes it. At home lately it has often been 90/60. Once upon a time my doctor noticed my blood pressure was...
  12. I am a firm believer in carefully chosen quality supplements. I have had nutrient tests from my health care providers to help decide which ones to take. I discovered that I did have mal-absorption and the lab recommended about 3 times as much for me as normal amounts! I would suggest working with your health care provider (If you can) to determine exactly...
  13. I go to Between the Bridges In Mankato, Mn. Dr. Kotulski came highly recommended as one knowledgeable of how to use supplements. He was recommended to me by my chiropractor who called around and found He is trained in Osteopathic medicine and Functional Medicine Dr. kotulski was associated with the Mayo Clinic for 32 years before opening Between the Bridges...
  14. I am glad to know that you are on your way to better health. You have had it rough for a very long time. I hope you will soon be surprised what symptoms go away with time and without gluten. I need to recount my undeniable celiac years with the article about tooth enamel this morning. I went from age 17-48 with symptoms of celiac. At 43 I was dying...
  15. I have played with Mango for sauce and am happy with the results.
  16. I fully agree that digestive enzymes are not for "cheating" or cross contamination. My insurance did cover them for my son that had villi damage, if there was a demonstrated advantage. My son did not grow last summer (when it was expected) until he took the enzymes. He then grew 2 1/2 inches in 3 months. This doctor is Osteopathic with a Functional...
  17. I didn't use Quest. I used a mail in lab and had a wait time of 3 weeks. At first I obsessed about it, but after a few days I kind of forgot about it. Perhaps that will be harder when you think it could come so soon. I would call the doctor's office and ask what the processing time estimate is. I have looked from catalogs from labs and they included...
  18. Here's hoping you will be on your way to your better health in the near future! *** D
  19. I have had tacos with: meat olive oil lettuce kidney beans avocado Diced mango My pizza has: nut crust mango sauce eggs with meat relish I am looking forward to getting spices back soon, but things have been good to eat even without them. They were delicious.
  20. A bump or twist in your gluten intolerance healing? Have you been checked for vitamin deficiencies? I have had many twists and bumps. I have doubted I have celiac. However, my caregivers believe I do, and have pointed to my improvements as proof. The improvements haven't always been study and I have also changed or added to my treatment several times...
  21. My next appointments were for a root canal and fillings. I got through these with no bloating, and no bright red face. I did get a headache, but I think the root canal itself caused that. Too much drilling. Also, the headache didn't appear until the day after.
  22. I had bloating/gas when starting probiotics, but have attributed it to its guar gum contents. I have a personal inability to tolerate guar gum. I believe guar gum is a legume. I can tolerate boiled legumes okay. D
  23. I remembered that once when I had blood drawn they took extra so I could add more tests later if I chose. I am just wondering if they may have saved samples from your original tests. I am wondering if it would be well to always ask for extra to be drawn when one is about to go gluten free. It is certainly worth asking if anyone is asked to do further testing...
  24. I successfully added blueberries in last week. I don't mean to me you jealous Barty, but only wanted to show that not everyone must cut out blueberries. Maybe, hopefully, one day you will be able to get them back, if you ever dare to try! I don't know about you, but I have to feel really good to feel free to chance ruining my feeling of well being. ...
