ARCHIVED Facial Weight Loss
1desperateladysaved replied to Macmuireadhaigh's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My face looks thinner, so I think it may be true one loses weight in their face first. If I had to wait very long term for testing, I wouldn't. I nearly died from starvation once and it wasn't fun. What I would do is go gluten free and record changes that occur. I would do a genetic test if you can. You can actually do that anytime on gluten or off.... -
I cut out potatoes for the last 6 months. I confidently tried them a week, or so ago. All other foods which I have tried have now been okay. Well, aches and swelling have been with me 8 days. They are intense enough to make me think I can do without potatoes for a good long time. I believe the most recent new supplement I got on may be made with potatoes...

I believe you are welcome to post. You would have many of the same problems. Other people who are here who do not have celiac disease, at least not a positive test. You passed the gold standard test in that you improved on the gluten free diet. Get well, stay well, D -

I have used Abeka book, Apologia, textbooks bought from garage sales or Amazon. There are online science and other courses by Greg Landry. He also has workshops in various cities on science, writing, and many others. One can borrow books that the public school system isn't using. I haven't done that, but I know it is possible. The library has many resources... -

Greetings, I have been home schooling for 22 years. I am glad I made the decision to start when my oldest daughter turned 3. We just thought to start and see what happened. Now, we have graduates doing well in college. . I know one can teach homeschool from the couch as I did just that some years. I am glad that I sat at the table last year,... -

I feel like I have a great excuse to avoid most social events with food. I have been told by a doctor that I eat at home. I know many of us can eat by bringing their own and such, but I can't. I won't say I never struggle with this. D -

ARCHIVED Wow! This Article Scares Me About Gfd... Anyone Else!
1desperateladysaved replied to a84c72's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I had 30 years of undiagnosed celiac. After six months gluten free I had a nutrient absorption test in which I had poor absorption. At. 18 months gluten free I had another nutrient absorption test and my absorption is good. I am probably better nourished then nearly all other Americans. I am not afraid. I did use many means as available to me to... -
I couldn't handle butter. Coconut oil would be a healthier sub in my opinion. I use coconut oil or olive oil. Coconut oil is also very yummy. D

I don't know what body impedance is, can you clarify? It is possible you can't process fat, so your body is just storing it. -
ARCHIVED Constantly Sick - Wondering If It's Celiac
1desperateladysaved replied to BumblingChemist's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Maybe there is good reason for you to be up all hours. I am glad you are researching celiac; it sounds plausible with your symptoms. The symptoms don't sound good to live with. I would get tested and certainly find a way to try the diet even if it is negative. The diet takes some learning, b ut I am finding feeling better makes it extremely worthwhile... -
I have a creepy crawly back sensation and it feels really good to me. It feels like the feeling one gets after a message. I haven't yet been able to explain it to a doctor and get an explanation. I do have nerve issues. I read about runner's high and wondered if that could be what I am experiencing. I have never had runner's high as running always devastated...

on the upper right of your screen you should see an envelope with a 1 (my message) or higher number on it. If you click on this you should be able to see a message I sent. I hope it works for you. I am very excited to talk about natural means of solving. I didn't know how to send a PM at first either. Time helps solve these things. D -
ARCHIVED Multiple Vitamin Deficiencies?
1desperateladysaved replied to Jake'sMom87's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My List: iron/ ferritin : My Functional Medicine told me it is often the very first sign of celiac. Vitamin B: Vitamin D: Magnesium: If you are low in B, you have trouble to breakdown your food; that makes it likely you will be low in everything. I have seen other lists. I know that the MD tested minimal nutrients on my daughters and I believe... -

ARCHIVED How Is It Posible To Gain Weigt On A Callange?
1desperateladysaved replied to Mum in Norway's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My fluid balance gets off when I have gluten. Yes, my face gets puffy, and for sure my abdomen and thighs. I believe the whole body does swell; the shoe store lady grew incredulous while noticing lines that denote swelling on my shoes. I even know what it feels like when it goes out. First my shoulders start being a little small for my clothes. My abdomen... -

Too bad. I have asked the only other member I know from MN to tell us who her GI doctor is. The same person that recommended Dr. Kotulski to me also told me of the Bruley Clinic. The doctor is an MD with Functional Medicine training. Since I went to Dr. Kotulski, I didn't get an opportunity to go to this clinic. At the time, their appointments were...

ARCHIVED Celiac Disease May Be Even More Common Than Previously Thought

Thanks, it doesn't make me feel any better about some of my children testing negative, though. You see I am 2 DQ2 and 2 DQ8 and all of my children (but 1) are small. I didn't have the classic symptoms, so why should they? -

My weight was water as I had a fluid/adrenal gland problem. I lost 30 lbs with proper nutrients and am still waiting for the water balance to return in full. I am 5/7 and 155 lbs and began 6 years ago at 190. I should note that I only went gluten free 18 months ago and the other came off with supplements. I still have some swelling issues and we are working... -
ARCHIVED How To Know You Need Digestive Enzymes?
1desperateladysaved replied to seraphim's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I will answer where I got mine done. It was part of a Nutri-Val by Genova Lab. This measured many nutrients and mal-absorption factors. My insurance said they would cover it since I had been diagnosed with celiac. This lab gave me a list of recommended nutrient levels which also included the enzymes. My functional Medicine Nurse told me that the villi... -

I am glad to see you can now be gluten free and you are now feeling better! You certainly seem to have had a positive response to the diet which is always the final test for gluten problems. Have you had your nutrient levels checked? Since you are feeling better, perhaps they are okay. If you have any trouble, you know where to come. D
