  1. I garden 3-4 hours a day, but my levels were still low. I live in Minnesota, so perhaps the northern rays are not so strong. . I asked if the body must process the Vitamin D through the small intestine, but it doesn't. I have a beautiful tan, but still need to supplement my vitamin D!
  2. A couple of my 5 children did not gain weight from 6-12 months. If you are nursing, your children may not be as large as bottle fed babies. Mine just took a break and have gained weight and height over the years. I wouldn't worry much, but I would be careful to feed and rest them as needed. Growth spurts are no myth and you may find when growth starts...
  3. I take 5 drops of liquid 5,000 d3 daily. I am up from 3 drops which put me at borderline normal. D
  4. Mine snuck up on me. Lately, I keep or finding evidence that I had it for my whole life. However after a bout with mono when I was 19 I noticed the nearly constant bloating up and down of my abdomen. I convinced myself that I wasn't a child anymore and was gaining weight. My Mom and I did try some things with diet including cutting all wheat. However...
  5. Yikes, no, they are working just fine!
  6. Greetings Ouchie, I have had similar frustrations with doctors, but now I can use them when I need to. Having a handwritten list of questions is helpful. You also had a good idea writing down your symptoms. Then you won't or can't forget them if you get stressed. I hope you will find one that respects and listens to you. I hope you will get some...
  7. When I read Reader's Digest's article, "I am Joe's Foot." II was a youth. I am guessing it was in the 70's, but if someone knows when let me know. I remember trying some of their suggestions for dealing with aching feet and caring because my feet often ached. As I sat holding my daughter's foot tonight, and considered how incredibly it was made, I...
  8. My problems seemed just as sneaky. I have celiac disease diagnosed after 30 years of symptoms. I was diagnosed on the basis of response to the gluten free diet, symptoms visable at 3 weeks gluten free, and an overwhelmingly positive genetic test. After those I had nutrient tests which showed me to be very deficient in many nutrients in spite of a very...
  9. The theory of eating a little and trying to "fit in" until you try it seems good to my family. Many of us who react to minor cross contamination do not care to repeat the experience. I am pretty sure you will find that too, if you accidently get gluten. I would not even consider having gluten on purpose. I have more intense reactions after going gluten...
  10. 30 years undiagnosed: How? Timing. The bloating seemed like maybe I was gaining weight as I came out of my teens. Normal. Pain:. My only "Pain" was brain fog and fatigue. Symptoms belonging often to working hard and many other things. Bloating is not a big problem when you wear dresses. Numbness: I didn't hurt when I bloat. I kept finding...
  11. I made a yummy white sauce by using 1 can of coconut milk and about 2 Tbsp almond flour. I also added between 1/3 tsp salt. It thickened and I added this to wild rice and chicken and it was excellent.
  12. I can't remember if I have this or not. I do have some bladder issues. The doc wanted to stick up a tube to take a look to see if the bladder was irritated. I knew it was irritated. I looked up the treatment for the problem they were looking for and it would be following a diet. 7/10 things on the diet I already knew to be a problem. I opted to not...
  13. Ding! (This rings a bell.) My functional Medicine Nurse told me, the villi in the small intestine are supposed to tell the pancreas to fire. If they have too much damage they are unable to do their job. If the pancreas doesn't fire, one can't break down their food well. The damage is reversible. In the meanwhile, I have been taking pancreatic enzymes...
  14. Were you gluten free when the blood test was done? Did you have the full celiac panel done? Were you eating normal amounts of gluten? If you were gluten free for a couple years, the negative results would show that you are doing a good job keeping gluten out of your diet. If you were eating gluten the whole time, that would be strange. D
  15. For a time it will be difficult. Learn all you can about avoiding gluten. Now, when your body needs some rest is a good time for reading. When you are feeling better, or losing symptoms it will get exciting. Get Well *** D
  16. I didn't cut out all dairy, but had only butter. I have been gluten free for 18 months. At about a year gluten free my physician asked me to cut out all Dairy, so I did. I am waiting for the villi to heal really well before I try any. I think I will know that the villi have healed well when I appear to be absorbing all the nutrients I need. Some...
  17. Are you saying, Burdee, that you were diagnosed about the time that your enamel came off your teeth? That would be great!
  18. What flavor of ice cream? I use fruit smoothies when I need something in the evening. Maybe you could flavor with whatever flavor your ice cream is. I use coconut or nut milk rather than dairy. As soon as I get some spices back peppermint, cinnamon, fennel or fenugreek would be yummy!
  19. uffda, anyone for less years? I would like to see how many people were impacted and for how long. I would like to share with my dentist when I go back in a few weeks. I would also be interested if anyone has enamel problems for other reasons, but I believe asking here would probably be the wrong people to ask. Asking anywhere else, I wouldn't get...
  20. I would have the dentist check to be sure the tooth is sealed off good. D
  21. I bring hard boiled eggs in 1/2 egg carton for day excursions. Canned fish or chicken also work, if you don't mind them at room temp. I also take canned olives, pieces of fruit and packaged seaweed. D
  22. I thInk it may be I had delusions about it? I remembered you talking about where you live. Are you too afraid to go to the farmer's market to get some produce, or do they only sell "non-gluten" cross contaminated items? Is there a sunny spot where you could put a garden or some pots? Sprouts are good veggies. I use to have a net sprout bag that hung...
  23. Cabbage is in the same family as broccoli and cauliflower. It keeps well. I retried it lately, when my daughter begged me. I shred it and cook it in coconut or olive oil and a little water. How about turnips, swiss chard, or spinach? I make swiss chard chips that are excellent. The only problem is that they disappear faster than I can make them. If...
  24. Wow! I hope you give the information to your dentist in order to spare others.
  25. Yesterday, I handed my dentist the paper about a connection between celiac and damage to tooth enamel. In doing so I am hoping that many of his patients will discover they have celiac disease. I would encourage others to do the same by printing off a copy and giving it to their dentist. While I sat in the dentist chair yesterday, I analyzed just how...
