ARCHIVED My Journey Through Gluten....
1desperateladysaved replied to NoGlutenJose's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Ha, I like the way you put it. Anyone here that volunteered for the job of battling celiac? I am really enjoying the food also. But I didn't volunteer. -
ARCHIVED How Do Your Glutening Symptoms Compare To Pre-Diagnosis Ones?
1desperateladysaved replied to nostalgic's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My symptoms before gluten free seemed very mysterious. I had nearly constant brain fog and insatiable fatigue. I swelled and bloated. I wasn't "sick" enough to be able to rest, but it was so very hard to act normal. Now, having been gluten free for months I get cramping and diarrhea several hours after my mistake. I consider this much easier to deal... -
ARCHIVED What Were You First Symptoms To Go Away?
1desperateladysaved replied to norman516's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
First, my feet hurt worse than ever. They even had plantar fasheitis in both feet. Then the pain went away and never came back. I think that happened in 1-3 months. -
ARCHIVED Managing Celiac When Your Child Is In Someone Else's Care
1desperateladysaved replied to Adravis's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I would encourage you, since it is so urgently important for your daughter to not have gluten, do not to leave her unattended. She needs to have you, or someone who really understands with her to protect her. A teacher won't always understand. When you daughter does have the knowledge, and won't give in, then I would allow her to try something like the... -
Wow! I know of a few people who would go for malabsorption cholesterol! Anything to get the bad numbers down! I like the way you said this with humor. Atleast, I took it humorously. It freaks me out that I heard this thin lady say that she was unusually low on cholersterol test last summer. She mentioned that she was not cautious in any way. I wonder...

ARCHIVED Crises, Or Invitation To Anniversary Celebration?
1desperateladysaved replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Super Sensitive People
Thanks, Thankfully, my reaction was mild. The mind could go crazy thinking of all the little possibilities of contamination in such a situation. Next time? Hmm what will I do. -
The Gluten Contamination Elimination Diet (Summary Of Dr. Fasano's Recent Paper)

I am going to remember to check this. I haven't scratched out buckwheat, but it is on my lists of suspects. How are you checked for healing? Diana -
ARCHIVED New At This Need Some Help!
1desperateladysaved replied to Kconnors54's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
"Is this all from gluten???" KConners54 Greetings KConners, I can't tell you that yet, but I hope that in the next months you will be able to tell us. I believe I have read about the symptoms you mention on the forum. Not all of us have classic symptoms. I had mostly bloating, fatigue, and foggy mind problems. After gluten free my reaction to... -
Has anyone taking a back pack trip and how would you pack for that? I personally would not want to put what's on my list on my back, but maybe in a large tired suitcase on wheels? Maybe I just invented the large- wheel for suitcase concept, but it sounds like a winner to me! Diana

ARCHIVED An Introduction :)
1desperateladysaved replied to Auntie-Manda's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hi Aunty Manda, It certainly sounds as if you have a positive dietary response. Sometimes one even seems to react more than ever as the body recovers. That is a good think, because it helps one learn the way. I always try to give flowers to those who are new *** That is my best flowers to date. Get well, I am glad you have support, Diana -
ARCHIVED Crises, Or Invitation To Anniversary Celebration?
1desperateladysaved replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Super Sensitive People
I did go to the anniversary party. It was at Applebys. When Dad asked, (I was so glad he did) I requested we not go to a pizza restaurant. Later I wished I would have said one that doesn't have a bakery. It turned out that Applebys did not smell highly of food or baked goods. I heated my food on Dad and Mom's front porch. I wondered as I dashed... -
ARCHIVED Negative Biospy! So Confused Please Help
1desperateladysaved replied to KristinIrwin's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Kristin, If I understood correctly you went gluten free before the biopsy. Healing could have happened during that time of being gluten free. Well, healing would be a good thing. But your biopsy could have been false negative. Two weeks of light gluten may have not been enough. Here are some questions: Do you have a reaction if you accidentally... -
ARCHIVED Overwhelmed And Don't Know Where To Start...
1desperateladysaved replied to greenbeanbaby's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Greetings Green Bean Baby, Your positive response to the diet may indicate a gluten problem. I think other intolerances or allergies can develope with that. I feel for you in all that struggle. I have alot of intolerances, but have found great tasting substitutes. I think you will be able to find subs too. It could take some time to figure things... -
ARCHIVED Intolerances And Blood Sugar Issues , A Connection Beyond Diabetes?
1desperateladysaved replied to cahill's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
This is interesting. I am amazed to note the diverse blood sugar reactions that you had toward various foods. I have always thought there was some connection. I feel as if when I eat something I don't tolerate that my body just doesn't process it. I don't think it takes in anything else that came with it either. That tends to make the blood sugar low.... -
ARCHIVED 3 Months Gluten-Free, Feel Like I'm Dying
1desperateladysaved replied to Wheresthebeef's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I take iron and don't understand about any pain associated with it. I take a capsule of powder. Mine is very natural, just meat. At 3 months gluten free, part of the time I felt like I was dying. Keep in my the goal of better health. You are going toward it, but it isn't all up hill. Often my lowest points were followed by the strongest ones yet... -
I just heard of cards you can present in various languages to explain you are gluten free. Open Original Shared Link The following portion is Erica's. I am not quite sure what I did here. "I am a backpacker. I have traveled to 29 countries and lived in five. It's my passion, my love. I was just diagnosed in the U.S. not too long ago and when I...

ARCHIVED Can Someone Talk Me Down?
1desperateladysaved replied to CaliSparrow's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Wow! What a day. My reactions did change after gluten free. I think my body was too overwhelmed before gluten free to let me know that it didn't like it. Stay away from gluten, you aren't at ground zero. Get well and over it! Diana -
ARCHIVED In Need Of Venting!
1desperateladysaved replied to AshBil's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yeah, I am in the same spot. Except, I don't trust any restaurant. I am planning to take my meal along to the restaurant with me. Some will even give you a plate to put it on. They must allow you to bring your own food. I don't feel 100% comfortable with this plan, but what can one do? The restaurant still wins since all of the others will be paying... -
First take along what you have been eating in convenient forms. I like to have dried vegetables when I am on the road. Nuts would also be very easy to pack. Fruits you should be able to get all the way. You don't have any nutrient dense protein on your list that require cooking. I cook in my "12 volt car oven on the road." I have one that is able...
