  1. I have seen the weird leg swelling as well as water retention. Once I lost 30 lbs in a week when I began some supplements. Yeah, it was all in my head! Not. I am not sure about protein levels, but was generally well nourished inspite of having a more and more stringent diet. This is improving with many tactics being used. Namely: Grain free diet...
  2. I use kelp noodles. Even my family is good with it! I buy these at a health food store. There is also spaghetti sqush.
  3. There are substitutes for nearly every problem food. Find substitutes. I use almond, buckwheat, nut and bean flours. You can use almond, hazelnut, or other nut butter instead of peanuts. Flax seed and water can substitute for eggs in baked goods. There is a section on the forum with recipes. Whole diet has changed? You can still have vegetables...
  4. I am sorry you are going through this. I have been through it, and I have come to consider any reaction a good one. I also am thankful that my "no GI symptoms" changed to having symptoms as it helped me to define what foods might be causing me problems. You are moving from a mal nourished to being better nourished. That is a good thing. Usually my...
  5. I take hard boiled eggs. I have also taken canned meats from a natural food coop. These fill in in a pinch if I find nothing else. Getting a 12 volt oven for the car makes for an adventurous trip. I heat leftovers or cook new in mine. Atleast I did before it konked out on me last trip. I was glad that I had cooked the fish before taking it. I found...
  6. I have trouble with laundry detergents (Perfume) at the store. I have never smelled anything like that on hotel sheets. I have had problems with motels when they are musty or water damaged. Diana
  7. Yeah, I think so. It wasn't all in your head after all!
  8. Oh, I like that, so fresh and new!
  9. I am still trying to unbrainwash you. These situations occur before gluten free days! Before diagnosis, and perhaps at the beginning of gluten free life. I am not dooming you to a horrible life after you are healing. In this post, I was looking back at 30 years of symptoms and how it was to live through them. See my newest post for what it is...
  10. Recovering from Celiac: Makes one feel like a bird coming out of a cage! Set free!
  11. I guess I think, and hope the hotel does a really good job of cleaning and rinsing. I haven't had a problem, that I know of from the detergents. That is even though walking down the detergent isle at the store is not a good experience for me. I do bring my own home made soap and shampoo. I bring my own cooking equipment. I always try to get a kitchen...
  12. Swimming through mollasses, HO HO HO! On a nudist beach, oh yeah! Foggy and froggy days, tehetehetehe. That is the sort of things I was thinking of. Thanks
  13. Aren't grits corn?
  14. I agreed that I could have been more clear about what I talked about. I saw that people would be brainwashed away from what I intended by the replies. I am sorry to make your responses look odd. I hope you will understand now what I meant to do and it might be a help to some. Now, I edited the first post also. If I hadn't, the real intent of the writing...
  15. The original post was unedited until 9 pm central, so actually you did see it. When I edited the post moments ago, I left the orignal intact, but for I added to the beginning and end. Whew!
  16. Thanks, but it sounds like you got it!! Thanks so much.
  17. So...you are trying to say that a person with Celiac can not live a "normal" life? I don't find that very encouraging to newly diagnosed people. Kareng No I wasn't sying that at all. I was trying to describe what it is like to have undiagnosed celiac. I am hoping that unsympathetic family members could gain some insight into what it is like...
  18. If I wasn't sure, I would test a little on my skin and watch for a reaction.
  19. I see that you need some clarification, Karen. I have been frustrated with being told I am obsessed and am trying to help those who haven't experienced it to understand the experience. I actually am quite well and chuckling somewhat over some of my ideas. I admit plugging one's computer into a fish is really doubtful. I just can't understand how people...
  20. Whatever it is, Please get well. I hope the tests will be difinative for you. Many of the symptoms sound like celiac and you need to find out what is causing it and try to solve it. Diana
  21. Kocoyboy: Sorry that you have suffered like this. Get better: *** Often right after my worst day, I experienced my best days. It isn't always a smooth ride. It takes a while to eliminate all gluten. I know the hazy, foggy mind very well. I had 30 years of it. BUT I tell you it is gone and has been for atleast a month, so there is hope for you...
  22. I like Amy and Brian Coconut Juice brand the best. Blue Monkey is second. If you consider it tastes like water, it is wonderfully sweet. However, if you are expecting soda like flavor, it will be a big disappointment!
  23. I tried to live normally, for 30 years even though my body fought a horrendous war on gluten. I had been told to ignore my symptoms and live like they are not there. I had been told that my problems were all in my head. The Md lightlysaid to give up gluten, as if it were as easy as giving up excercise for lent. I am thinking that Living normally while...
  24. I agree. I have several doctors working with me on this. I do feel that I am in control, though. I am ultimatly accountable for taking care of my own health. I would not use drugs or herbs without being advised. My doctors would be supportive of testing at home. It is a good way to see what is happening with the blood sugar.
