  1. , "I bought a test meter and strips several years ago (pre-gluten-free) because I thought my blood sugar was getting high then dropping low. Turns out it was low and dropping very low and I could not raise it even with eating loads of sugar/sweets." Ewyon Yeah, Ewyon, That is an expereince I had. 15 years ago, I checked my blood after breakfast...
  2. Oh, that is touching. I wish you all well Diana
  3. Sorry to hear your genetic test was not definative. It sounds like your diet trial was overwhelmingly positive, though. Antibody tests would false negative, if you are not eating gluten. What do you need to prove to yourself and others that a gluten free diet is right for you? Well, I wish you well in your discoveries. Diana
  4. I was 4/4 of gene alleles! DQ8 yes and DQ2 yes. I hope you are off gluten very soon. Diana
  5. My doctor said to me that your body is now better able to tell you when it doesn't like something. I am glad for indications that are clear rather than constant feeling something is wrong without a way to resolve it. The symptoms will help you heal on your way. Get better! Diana
  6. ." I was so amazed but was scared to be happy about it, afraid I was going to jinx myself!" Lisa. Yeah, I keep telling me not to get giddy. It tends to set you up for a big fall later. Get well, for real and then get giddy, Diana
  7. Yes, it was 6 years back when I tried. Perhaps it has changed again?
  8. I recently started taking immuno globulin capsules to help heal my small intestine. IF you have experience with it good or bad let me know here: I hadn't heard or read about it here. Thus far I have felt really strong since I started, but it has only been a few days. We discovered that my IGA levels were very low. They were 5.6 total IgA to be specific...
  9. Great idea. I have a couple of those meters, but no strips. The stores would not sell them to me without a prescription. Maybe that has changed, or maybe I could get the MD to write me a prescription. I have been being very careful with all sugar. I am also taking pancreatic enzymes now. I feel well lately, but when the next dive comes...I am going...
  10. It could be that my pancreas over produced to cope with the sugar. It would be low, if it did that. I think I felt okay before drinking the glucola, but it was a fasting test.
  11. No, it wasn't taken that day. No follow up was ordered. When they checked after a breakfast, it was plenty low!
  12. If it was being absorbed, it just seems like my blood sugar should have been higher, but yes, I guess I was all screwed up.
  13. I am still having a clear mind. I had an illness, but it was mild (compared to my families) and I recovered in a couple of days. Giddy? No, not yet!
  14. I have suffered from hypoglycemia for years. I have read that many others here do also. I thought of this topic because I had to drink Glucola many years ago. The doctor checked my blood sugar an hour after. My blood sugar registered 80 and she marveled that that was low even for fasting! I felt sick for a week after that experience and promised...
  15. Sorry about the gluten challenge things. I think if you hang on a while longer you will begin to feel better again. I hope you get some definative answers from any and all tests. I just realized that my craving for junky sweets is gone. I loath them. I still am attracted to some fruits and starchy foods. I always combine any fruit with meals or protein...
  16. As I bumped along my first 7 months gluten free it has been hard to grasp "feeling better." As I look back though, I realize profound changes have come. I was challenged with months of withdrawl symptoms or problems with missing gluten or cross contamination. I also discovered other allergies. A month or so ago, a clear mind decided to live with me...
  17. It is possible that you are better able to distinguish food problems now. That seemed to be the case for me. You get one big culprit out of the way and your body isn't overwhelmed with that anymore. Then it is more able to alert you that something is wrong with what you are still eating. I also had cross contamination problems that kept me feeling low...
  18. I can relate.
  19. Keep up the good work. It sounds like a nice start to your family! Diana
  20. Cut out all of the empty treats and only buy what is nourishing. Make everything from scratch. Have everyone available help with meal prep. I freeze produce in the summer for our winter use. I also pressure can. Buy in bulk after being really sure it won't be cross contaminated. Diana
  21. I am sorry to hear you are still having such troubles. I can relate to many relapses. How long gluten free now? Some (Like me) tolerate no grain. She has to eat something, though. Meat is my one of my good foods. Here is my steps to clear mind (all of them I can think of) Natural organic foods no sweets supplements as determined by testing (I havent...
  22. Last time I had dry mouth, coconut water resolved it. I buy 100% coconut water in a can. It contains both potassium and magnesium, and probably other nutrients. It is in naturally occuring amounts; it is not added. It is like sport water in its hydration ability, but without all that added sugar. You may want to try some. Expect it to taste about like...
  23. You seem to have ruled out all of my steps to a clear mind free of fatigue. I get fatigued when I am constipated. Are you beyond any withdrawl? Do you have a gluten free house?
