  1. That is so neat. How exciting that would be for a child - to feel connections with other Celiac children. Hope you do this and can then report on it.
  2. What a POSITIVE outlook. I am so glad that your child is going to be able to mainstream without those looks that so many get (including the adults). These things will go a long way to build her confidence. Thank you for sharing.
  3. This is my families favorite. I just bought their pie crust mix, but have not tried it yet. But these brownies are awesome. Our friends' also love them. I take them when I go to a potluck.
  4. Sorry about your pizza. I made the most awful one the other night and we ate it LOL. I guess we were totally hungry. They say that doctors make the worst patients BTW, you will probably make some lousy food mistakes until you get the hang of it. Two years and I am still trying to get the hang of it . Not the gluten, just the cooking.
  5. I am so sorry Vincent. I would assume that if your blockage is that much, that it would affect your oxygen, which would definately make you very tired. <<<<<<<<<<<HUGS>>>>>>>>>>>. I don't know if Celiac would cause this or not. I have a minor blockage in my groin and in my heart, but mine...
  6. PLEASE lets not do another thread with hostility. It IS not productive in the least. He came to us for some answers and SECONDARY he is a doctor. If someone cannot deal with this then they need to go to the doctor bashing thread and not this one.
  7. My gp who diagnosed me has now diagnosed over 60 patients with this disease. He now knows how to diagnose, but knows nothing about the diasease itself. I am now giving him and his PA books to read which they are doing. He diagnosed one women who had a rash on her hands for 15 years and no one could help her clear it up. My dr. did know that D H was a...
  8. I won't go into my over 30 years of being treated like a hyppchrondiac by the majority of doctors. Some mini flu's (as I called them) too frequently to be normal with vomiting and D. So many meds that I had to really concentrate to not take the wrong one at the wrong time. MANY diagnosis' that went away after going gluten free after my Celiac diagnosis...
  9. Hi Jade, Thank you for saying harbour as my brain could not think of the word . We stayed at a small wonderful hotel in Melbourne. They took such good care of us. Printed out maps for us everyday and loved that we so loved their country. We cannot go as I am still not fully recovered. My exhaustion seems to be far to much a part of my life. We...
  10. Oh, I just love Australia. My husband and I have been there twice. Once we did the Great Barrier Reef and stayed on one of the islands. The second time which is my most favorite, we stayed in Sidney near the pier for several days and then we rented a car. Drove down the Eastern Coast to Melbourne. We toured everything we could within driving distance...
  11. Why shouldn't the tonic come out of a gun?. If I order a drink with coke and they use the gun, is that OK?
  12. I was also sleeping about 20 or more hours a day. After I went gluten-free, it did not take that long for me to sleep relatively normal. I have been gluten-free for two years and I still have a problem with exhaustion. But, I am almost 64 and went undiagnosed for at least 30 years. I did not find this support group until last year. So, what I did in...
  13. There was an article somewhere where they said that in Italy, they test the women who have miscarried. Italy has a National Health seervice and tests every child when they start school. Probably figure that it is cheaper in the long one to find the Celiacs and put them on the gluten-free diet. Which it certainly is, going by my huge medical bills. Hopefully...
  14. Most rice milk is gluten free, but NOT all. I use Pacific. Avoid Oats because there is a big problem with cross-contamination. No barley, rye or spelt. It is so hard to watch your child be sick.
  15. I had two miscarriages and one was at 6 months. It was a horrible emotional time for me. I would not wish that on my worst enemy. There is no doubt that my only child, a daughter, has Celiac. She will not be tested. She was the classic Celiac baby, but no one diagnosed her. We spent weeks with her being in the hospital with IV's interwining through...
  16. Scott, the Administrator has addressed this concerning pots and pans. You do not have to get rid of them. Just clean them thoroughly. I would maybe consider getting rid of a teflon pan that is totally scratched up, but other then that, no. Also your dishes get clean in the dishwasher. If you have Melamine I don't know what scratches on them do. Getting...
  17. I see the same doctor next week and will ask him about the Cod Liver Oil. My Mom used to give it to me daily as a child. I was a sickly little bugger - now we know why. I thought it tasted Yucky, but will do whatever it takes to give me more energy. I like this new doctor as he and his PA know something about Celiac and even test often for it. They don...
  18. I wish this had been around 2+ years ago, when I was googling everywhere, trying to find out why I was almost dead. At the end I could not google as I was bedridden. What a great help this might be for people who are trying to find some answers.
  19. The new Reumotolgist that I went to a couple of weeks ago, ran some blood tests on me. They called last week and said that my vitamin D was low and they phoned in an RX for it. I took one last Wednesday, then Saturday and I have to wait for tomorrow to take another. I noticed a little more energy the first time I took it and then on Saturday I had more...
  20. I hope I am doing this right. Vincent, here is the recipe. They tasted WONDERFUL. I used K bread (can't spell that company name) The Monte Cristo Sandwich from the Bette Hagman revised edition is: 8 slices gluten-free bread 2 Tbl. mayo 1 Tbl. mustard 4 thin slices cooked ham (I used Hillshire Farms Deli Select Ultra Thin - then piled on the...
  21. I have NOT found a mac n cheese that tastes like anything but cardboard . Which is probably a good thing for me, because of my dairy allergy, which got much worse after going gluten-free. Since I made those Monte Cristo Sandwiches for lunch guests this past Saturday, I now have to wait another month before I make Pizza Pockets (think I got this fantastic...
  22. If your bloodwork was positive and high to boot, why do you have to do another bloodtest? My understanding is that there is not any false positives, only a false negative is possible. And if you have been gluten-free for some time, I would think that that would scewe the blood test. I am sure that someone else will post and address this. If your bloodtest...
  23. I use Avon Ultra Color Rich Renewable Lipstick. They also have several others that are gluten-free.
  24. Whenever we eat at a restaurant that does not take reservations, we go at 5:00 and no later then 5:30. That has worked for us.
