  2. Were you diagnosed via bloodwork/biopsy for Celiac?
  3. Hi Marianne, Welcome to the board! Ask questions-I guarantee you'll get an answer for a recipe, ingredient, etc.
  4. Happy, Happy Birthday!
  5. You may want to have the Celiac bloodwork run to see if it your body has/hasn't healed yet from gluten. You could ask your PCP to run the bloodwork again.
  6. Here is an article about length of eating gluten: https://www.celiac.com/articles/12/1/How-lo...gful/Page1.html If you do have the bloodwork done, make sure that it is the five test panel: Anti-gliadin antibodies (AGA) both IgA and IgG Anti-endomysial antibodies (EMA) - IgA Anti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies (tTG) - IgA Total IgA level.
  7. Well, the good news is that it WILL be warm 'relatively' soon....and with that come ANOTHER version of Lady. Of. LEEEEEISURE. suits. Among other places, Old Navy makes them in terry cloth, and the pants are no longer pants....they are loose capris! Perfect for the summer/beach/lounging!
  8. Eric calls them "lady of leisure" suits. Pronounced Lady. OF. LEEEEEEISURE. Among others, I have a burgundy LOL suit. Our first married Christmas together, I was wearing it while I was making some Christmas gifts. Had the craft glue, scissors, all kinds of stuff spread out on the floor, right by the Christmas tree....in my burgundy/Christmasy outfit...
  9. (I merged the two threads together since they were identical) There is a lot of differing opinions on the "personal care" products. If it is anything that you could ingest by chance, some feel its worth it to keep it gluten free. Some people only use gluten-free products. Others don't use gluten-free products. Its a personal decision, but for some...
  10. (said very quietly) please don't hate the skinnies.....
  11. Two main possibilities: 1. You are new to the diet, so you probably aren't fully healed. Even when eating gluten-free foods, your body may still just be having "issues" because you aren't 100% healthy. It may take a little while for your body to heal and be able to process foods normally. 2. You were cross contaminated at the restaurant. It may have...
  12. You may want to call the ped GI and tell his nurse your concerns. You do not want to go gluten free before the biopsy. See if they can push your appointment up. It mainly depends on if you want to proceed with the biopsy (which can look for things other than Celiac).
  13. However, if you have Celiac, functioning does not equate to "no damage being done." The executive director of the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness had fertility problems and tells her story here: Open Original Shared Link Heidi Collins of CNN is a spokesperson for the same group and also had fertility issues: Open Original Shared Link
  14. If you go back for testing, take this list of tests with you...the Celiac panel is five tests. Open Original Shared Link Anti-gliadin antibodies (AGA) both IgA and IgG Anti-endomysial antibodies (EMA) - IgA Anti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies (tTG) - IgA Total IgA level.

  16. 17. Many of the products you already use probably come from companies that have gluten-disclosing policies. Open Original Shared Link
  18. The nutritionist from the Celiac Center at the University of Maryland spoke last year and said that a gluten free diet of only one week begins to affect the biopsy in some people. So yes, you could get a false negative. If its a positive, its definitely a positive. But if its a negative, you won't know if its a true negative.
  19. Have you tried calling the branch manager?
  20. Many packaged lunchmeats are safe. You can eat them in roll ups with cheese, mayo. Or put them in lettuce for a 'wrap.' There are some Progresso Soups that are gluten free. Baked potato with toppings. Salad. And left overs (once you figure out what to eat) are really good too. Your overall best bet will be to learn how to effectively read...
  21. There is a really great group in the Richmond area. Lots of involvement, and they have great speakers. Richmond: The West End Gluten Intolerance Group
  22. The Washington Post Magazine (Sunday, January 20) had a great article about Celiac Disease and a couple who opened a gluten-free bakery. Couple Profits From Gluten-Free Flour Power BY KATHERINE SHAVER Sunday, January 20, 2008 Renee and Richard D'Souza with some Sweet Sin Bakery creations. When Renee D'Souza was diagnosed with celiac disease three years...
  23. A good brand of probiotics and lots of good information can be found at: Open Original Shared Link
  24. Geoff, Good luck with your biopsy. Before the procedure, discuss with your GI that you want 'multiple biopsies in multiple locations' taken. Celiac Disease damage can be patchy, so it can be missed by taking one biopsy. Taking more biopsies/multiple places increases the chances of an accurate biopsy. Your blood tests are certainly indicative of Celiac...
  25. Some of my favorite snack type foods that are easy and naturally gluten free: *Seven Layer Dip with tortilla chips use McCormick's taco seasoning-they will clearly list any gluten *an alternative to the "mexican" version is to use old bay instead of the taco seasoning. *Spinach Dip use Knorr vegetable dip mix *Rotel Cheese Dip Velveeta/Rotel...
