  1. Women are also more likely to go to the doctor for their problems than men are. Men may just be suffering in silence.
  2. We eat all our normal 'pasta' recipes in this house...i must say I make a delightful baked macaroni and cheese. Use tinkyada....love it!
  3. maltodextrin is safe...it just looks misleading . and if it WERE processed from wheat, it would say so. i don't think gluconate is bad...it will have wheat listed if it had wheat. if you are unsure, call the company. but, those ingredients, to me, appear safe.
  4. thanks again for the updates, lynne and armetta. We are all rooting for you and your hair, lynne.
  5. I get that too, sometimes, but like Andrea said, you should still be able to upload.
  6. floridamae: just wanted to add a welcome to you. we are happy to have you here and hope that you continue to join in. let us know if there is anything we can do to help.
  7. Patti: Quick post. But, I am so happy that you had a good app't today...that he took you seriously. Isn't all that we ask for?! And, even though I was frustrated with some of my testing, I think its good that you are having the blood drawn, etc....because even IF this isn't it (which, we all know its not "celiac" that is causing your other problems at this...

    ARCHIVED P. F. Changs?

And bring some immodiums for just in case....two of my hands down, worst moments were glutenings thanks to PF Changs. (that being said, I've been glutened at every restaurant out there, so its not just there by any means). I say this because you will be far from home, and the only thing worse than being glutened...is being glutened far from your own home...
  9. I hate life today. Came home from work early. i hate this bev....let us know when you are home. xxoo
  10. just got home...and i think i'm in a flare (started last night...slowly) but, wanted to offer my words of encouragement to BEV for her endoscopy tomorrow...i'll be thinking of you CARLA for her herx PATTI for the glutening.... love to you all...off to bed. xoxo
  11. my bread turns out better in the oven, not the breadmaker
  12. thanks both to jenny and karen . The link that jenny provided had the labels to the mild, medium, and hot versions of the sauce that we would use...and they all contain wheat gluten. Delightful! Laura
  13. andrea, whats interesting about fmla is that it only LEGALLY covers, parent, child, or spouse (taking care of them). So, for women, who are often the caretakers of the family, this could legally be a problem, if you needed time off to take care of an in-law (who are NOT covered). Now, this doesn't mean that your employer won't let you have time off,...
  14. i use the mccormick regularly too . any idea what the bad ingredient is in the old el paso?
  15. https://www.celiac.com/st_prod.html?p_prodi...-07107268870.93 wine is safe. there are a few gluten free beers (redbridge, bards tale, etc) distilled alcohols.
  16. welcome . i wrote about it in grad school for a class
  17. A friend wants to make dinner and asked if Old El Paso Enchilada sauce is safe. Neither of us have the ingredients in front of us and we can't find it online. I know they are a company who won't hide the ingredients...but I don't have the ingredients to let her know if it is safe or not. If anyone could let me know if its safe or not, I'd be grateful
  18. fmla protects your job for 3 months for the above mentioned reasons. they aren't required to pay you, but are required to let you take that time off, either all at once, or over the course of the year. you can use unpaid or banked vacation time, etc. it only applies to certain employers...all fed employers, and companies with 50+ employees, and i believe...
  19. Synopsis of Law-FMLA Covered employers must grant an eligible employee up to a total of 12 workweeks of unpaid leave during any 12-month period for one or more of the following reasons: for the birth and care of the newborn child of the employee; for placement with the employee of a son or daughter for adoption or foster care; to care for an immediate...
  20. Pedro, well said I think we all "lurked" for some point...I know I did!!!!! Even after I joined, it took me awhile to get going. Happy that you have joined us...and hope that others will as a result of this post.
  21. Kari: You have discovered what many of us on this board know...that MG (Lisa) is extremely wonderful and helpful. She does a wonderful job on this board! I am so happy that you took the information you learned here and were tested. So many people are undiagnosed for so long, so I'm happy that you shortened the time for yourself. Good for you!!!!...
  22. not all products have a line that says "Contains: Allergen, Allergen, Allergen". However, any milk products won't be hidden. if its labeled parve (or P), its non-dairy. anything with casein/caseinate, any milk, any listing of dairy, whey/whey protein, lactose, butter, cream... by the way-some margarines are casein free.
  23. Armetta, Thanks so much for the update. We really appreciate it. Lynne, Hope you sign on and get to read these warm wishes for you. We all hope and pray for the absolute BEST for you. Please let us know what we can to to help....and know that we care deeply for you! xoxo, Laura
  24. I just talked to my lab in AL, where I had my Celiac biopsy taken (2004). They still have it! Their policy is to keep the paraffin blocks TEN YEARS. So ladies, if you had biopsies, its worth calling to see if they are still around. My set from this fall were sent to MDL yesterday. My set from 2004 will be sent to my doctor, and then out to MDL...
  25. Although I do think its important for some people (esp those who haven't stopped eating gluten) to have the biopsy, if I were you, I would not do it. I've stood my ground....told 4 GIs I wouldn't go back to eating gluten. They can't make you eat gluten and have the biopsy. If it is too much for you, then don't back down.
