  1. Donna, I was positive for mycoplasma pneumonaie. about bells palsy: from Open Original Shared Link The etiology of Bell palsy remains unclear, although vascular, infectious, genetic, and immunologic causes have all been proposed. Patients with other diseases or conditions sometimes develop a peripheral facial nerve palsy, but these are not classified...
  2. Definitely take a picture of it. Best of luck.
  3. Nancy---Thanks for posting this. I was a bit confused though---you mentioned it is new research, but the article was published in 1998?
  4. Goodmorning ladies! Hope that everyone is having a good weekend so far! Its nice to see everyone back on here. Susan, the picture you were referring to was taken in 2002 while I was in school....needless to say, I was at a more normal weight, and um, certain parts of me were um, larger than what they are now. Happy to have you back on here, my dear...
  5. I don't use lists of specific products ... I go by food labeling laws and the companies that we know clearly will disclose any gluten source. hathor-that list is unreliable. You don't need a list if you go by the theory that you read everything equally before you put it in your mouth.
  6. luvtorunn: Welcome to the board! Happy that you have found this resource...it truly is invaluable. You don't "need" a test to stay gluten free the rest of your life. However, if you want to be diagnosed as a Celiac, you want your testing to be as accurate as possible, which means you HAVE to keep eating gluten. Think of it like diabetes...if a...
  7. Andrea, I think the other 'unresolveds' are Judy and Patti....I think Patti's is at least more manageable with the diet, whereas Judy's is up in the air (is that somewhat, kinda, maybe, sorta correct)?
  8. Hi ladies love the new pics, bev and patti. happy to have you back, carla. i'll write more later, but just wanted to add my voice of support, Charlie. Make sure you next get tested for co-infections, even before you started LD treatment. You are in NJ, so there should be experienced LLMDs in your state. I luckily love my dr.....and for me to...
  9. The Celiac panel often takes a little longer, depending on which lab is used....I would say 1-2 weeks is what I have seen/experienced.
  10. Rule #1 (which I wish I learned sooner into the gluten-free diet!): Unless you know 100% what the ingredients are in every bite you put in your mouth, do not eat it. You are unfortunately asking to be glutened. Many chicken at restaurants are marinated, and many of them have soy sauce in it (which often has wheat in it). At a place that doesn't...
  11. Rinne, as always, it is great to have you back here. I put up another picture...this was from fall 2002 at PSU....before I was sick.
  12. cute pictures! i must say, i have really enjoyed this!!! andrea-my brother is three years older than I am (and my sister is four years younger). he has two little girls (i've had their pics up before...one is 3 and the other is 6 months). Absolute ANGELS!
  13. Of all people to have met first, she was lucky to meet someone as caring as you!
  14. We celebrate it at my house! Getting the diagnosis gave me my life back.... This summer will be three years for me!
  15. Andrea, Thanks . I just put another one up. xoxo to all
  16. ok, i'm posting just so you guys can see this one...i dont have many young pics digitally...i'll have to find some. I was about 4 months old here, with my brother. Andrea, I love the pic!
  17. just going out on a limb here, but there is evidence to suggest that people who don't have Celiac benefit, weight wise, from going gluten free. There was a study published that found that people who were having trouble losing weight benefitted from going gluten free and were able to lose weight. There is more to gluten than "just" Celiac....so hopefully...
  18. I'm going out on a limb on this one...but if I remember correctly, its that TVP is only a problem if you don't know the source (of the vegetable, which, if it is soy, should be fine). Anyone else have any insight?
  19. I use McCormick's mixes all the time. I feel confident in their food labeling.
  20. Happy, Happy, Happy Birthday, sweet Karen. much love from all of us!
  21. Thanks for the update, Carla. I'm so happy that the treatment seems to be working, albeit slowly. I hope the d goes away. You deserve all this good news and a wonderful trip!
  22. https://www.celiac.com/st_main.html?p_catid=7 here are some links to related disorders/diseases with Celiac. also, an excerpt from Dr. Green's website: Q: Is it ok if I ingest some gluten if I do not experience any symptoms? No. The majority of patients with celiac disease experience no symptoms when they ingest gluten, either intentionally or...
