  1. Sugar isn't good for anyone, especially anyone with immune issues. It causes inflammation and inhibits your immune system. I was over doing sugar and didn't think it was hurting anything until I saw the delayed effect it had on my digestive system. I've completely removed sugar from my diet. Cutting back on sugar isn't a new idea. There have been many...
  2. I was leery to try Omega 3 capsules, since I had such a reaction to tuna 6 weeks ago. My ND assured me that since there was no protein in fish oil, it shouldn't be a problem. Wrong. This is not the first time she has asked me to try something I had doubts about that has made me sick! I was feeling good today until I tried one Omega 3 cap. Now I have nausea...
  3. Good to know. So, I guess there's flour dust in the air? Or is something somehow released into the air by the baking process?
  4. I've had a sensitivity to yeast and corn for many years. You may know all about corn sources, but I thought I'd mention a couple in case you don't know about them. Citric acid and ascorbic acid are corn, not citrus, and they are such a common additive. It's even used to rinse packaged vegetables like baby carrots and salad mixes. Another one that shocked...
  5. I don't even know what my D level is. I haven't had it checked. I was taking 1000 I.U. daily as recommended by my GI, then my Naturopathic Dr. told me to start taking 5000 I.U. without getting my D checked first (I wonder about her sometimes). I'm not aware of any adverse affects, but I'd really like to get opinions about whether my D level is something that...
  6. Another thing to consider is that you don't have to be Celiac to have damage internally and severe symptoms. I'm Non-Celiac Gluten Intolerant, as far as I know, my blood test was negative, and I'm still recovering two years later. If you felt better after removing gluten I would consider that the best test of all. By the way, I had two doctors say my...
  7. Really glad to hear that you're seeing improvement. Hope you keep feeling better and are able to enjoy yourself more!
  8. My ND told me to take 5000 iu per day as a minimum. The sun is supposed to be the best source of D. I live in So California so 10 minutes a day is the recommended time here. I haven't been consistent about doing it. The time needed depends on where you live, and the sun being out of course. Seems like even getting occasional sun might help if the supplements...
  9. AnnaChristine, you started this post nearly a month ago, and you keep coming back saying you are feeling worse and worse. There are a lot of people concerned about you giving you good advice. I hope you will try some of the suggestions to see if it helps you. Everyone on here has had to try different things to find the answer. It's a trial and error process...
  10. Interesting, the connection between Celiac and yeast. I also read about the natural occurring yeast on the skin of grapes. Apparently apples have it too.
  11. There was someone who posted on this site I believe, and I've read this elsewhere, that being in a bakery, without eating anything makes them sick. I'm not sure how that works, but it happens. If it were me, I would have my own convection/toaster oven that only you can use. I think I've read that there are others who do it that way. Maybe it's not necessary...
  12. I'm non-Celic Gluten Intolerant according to the blood test, but still I have been trying to recover for two years, and many others have the same experience. It's taken away my ability to live any kind of normal life - I'm just too sick to participate in much of anything. I would hate to see that happen to you. You feel ok now, but repeated exposure can do...
  13. It's important to have someone monitoring all the supplements you are taking. It's true, they could be interacting with one another in bad way, and the one with the long list of ingredients could be bothering you. Sometimes for us the natural ingredients may sound good but can be related to something that is a problem for celiacs. You need to have your...
  14. Just wanted to comment on the original info in my post about solving my C problem. I did get the nasty but effective stuff from my DR. that I'll be drinking tomorrow. It won't be pleasant but it should work. I'll be on clear liquids for the day tomorrow, and on soft foods for three days after that. It's scary to feel afraid something will get stuck inside...
  15. That's a very good reminder for me, as you and I started on this "project" at about the same time... good words.
  16. Sorry to hear about your friend CS. The timing is so poignant. It really puts things into perspective when these things happen, sort of takes the wind out of you. That was nice someone said you look healthier. Encouraging!
  17. I'll be glad when I get to that stage. Not there yet. Today I'm at the "what made me think I could do this?" stage. I know that will pass. It's a loss to give something up and there's a grieving process. When I start to feel better it will pay off, and I will have made an investment that will keep me going, in the same way that it get's easier to keep on...
  18. To a GI, serious things can be solved by medication or surgery. There are a whole bunch of things they don't understand or acknowledge, as we all know too well. Are you eating organic? There has to be some common denominator with vegetables that bothers you. Or if not pesticides then maybe something else in the environment. Could the bloating be from...
  19. I think after a lifetime of sugar propaganda it could use a little "bashing". I understand how you feel completely. It's really hard to think of all the things we've considered a normal part of enjoying life in a different way now. Some say that sugar can be the cause of leaky gut which can then lead to a gluten intolerance... the chicken and the egg...
  20. My problem is I can't do sugar in moderation. A candy bar lasting 3 days? That's impressive. If I could do anything like that it would be a different story. Of course I haven't touched chocolate in two years anyway, and isn't something I've thought about in a long time, nor do I want to... Everyone has foods they have do stay away from because they can...
  21. You have this in common with me. I know a lot about dealing with constipation so let me know if I can help with that at all. If you are not going enough, that will cause you to feel terrible, trust me, and it can definitely cause the bloating. One thing I will mention is that it's important to get the right balance of fiber. Insoluble fiber speeds up digestion...
  22. Thank you! I'm so glad you are feeling better - it's really inspiring and I'm so happy for you too! It sounds like you have it under control, so it doesn't sound like you have to worry about this, but this info may be helpful to you if you ever do have trouble with seasonal allergies or something. It's something I had never heard of, and I don't think...
  23. I think sugar suppresses everyone's immune system. Ok, thank you, you've inspired me! Sugar has to be why I'm so sick right now, and I've been through way too much to allow anything to keep me down. It's not worth it, and sugar is terrible for us, that's not anything new. I'll be healthier all the way around by giving it up. If you can do it, I can do...
  24. Thank you so much. I have been really vigilant. Yes I think the gluten caused leaky gut, which has made me so sensitive to other things. Uh-oh. I started thinking after I wrote this original post about anything I've added to my diet lately. Then I just read the info under your signature, BlessedM! This is like divine intervention. I felt so deprived after...
