Yesterday, I received a container of Benefiber in the mail. I find it questionable. The only ingredient listed is "wheat dextrin." It states it is sugar free, sodium free, and gluten free. It states there is less than 10ppm of gluten, so it's gluten free. I will not try it. I feel if it has one ingredient, which is a wheat product, then how can...

ARCHIVED Accidental Gluten Ingestion, How Long Until Villi Regrow?
darlindeb25 replied to Vauxl's topic in Doctors
No, everything you have done has not been ruined. They do say however, sometimes the damage one glutening causes, can take 6 months to repair. Yet, that damage is nothing compared to where you were 1 1/2 yrs ago. It was accidental, now just get back to your gluten-free lifestyle and things will get back to your normal again. Good luck! -
ARCHIVED I Just Want To See What Happens ?
darlindeb25 replied to HeyItsA's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I never wanted to cheat, never wanted to see what would happen. Did I still crave foods I can't have anymore, ABSOLUTELY, and after 8 yrs, I still do. Last January, I was glutened by an OTC med, and I was sick for 3 months, lost 24#. No, I never need to check and see if I really can have gluten!!! -
ARCHIVED Allergic To Scented Candles?
darlindeb25 replied to *lee-lee*'s topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Some scented candles do not even need to be burning to set me off. The worst reaction I have had to a candle, was several years ago and it was one of those 3 tiered candles, with 3 different scents. I had it burning next to the computer and my head started to hurt, then my nose started running, my eyes, were running and then, my nost ran, like a faucet... -
You did great, stay positive. There will always be those days when you get tested, this was your fist big test and you passed with flying colors. Keep up the good work. We do mourn gluten, there is a mourning process for most of us. I mourn every year at holiday time, all the wonderful foods on tv ads, patients bring us treats at work, other doctors...

ARCHIVED Wow, People Really Don't Get It...
darlindeb25 replied to samcarter's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Perfect timing for this thread to reappear. Yesterday, one co-worker brought in homemade muffins. Another tells her how good they are and asks what's in them. So the first starts telling her the ingredients, and Lisa looks at me and says, "Whole wheat, so Deb can have them, right?" So I looked at her and said, "Yeah Lisa, I can have whole wheat, I just... -
ARCHIVED New Chapter Vitamin With Barley Grass
darlindeb25 replied to pellegrino's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Barley grass and wheat grass are questionable...some say it's ok, and some do not. I will not take a vitamin with either in it. Puritan Pride multi-vitamins are said to be gluten free, yet they contain barley grass. When I questioned the company about the barley grass, they told me in their opinion, there was not "enough" gluten in the vitamin to constitue... -

Me too, I have lovingly called them my raccoon eyes. I have had them for years, and still do, after 8 yrs of gluten-free. I think they belong to us! -
ARCHIVED Upcoming Hysterectomy Concerns
darlindeb25 replied to lenjac's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I had a hysterectomy 1 yr ago last August. Just be prepared. I was prepared, I made sure any medications they would be giving me would be gluten free, I informed the dietician that I was gluten-free, corn, soy, and nightshade free. In pre surgery, a nurse brings me an antacid the doctor had ordered, "Is it gluten free?" She didn't know, didn't even know... -
ARCHIVED Silly Question - How Many People Do And
darlindeb25 replied to debmidge's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I had 5 kids, and didn't have one for years and years, then I had one for about 5 yrs, and haven't had one since. My parents--no daughter--no 1 son-yes 3 sons-no sister--no I honestly believe it probably is about 50/50. Many, many people do not have them. -

We had a company send us samples for our support meeting Tuesday night. The company is Shabtai Gourmet. We had Lady's Fingers, Brownies, and some other wonderful marbles cookie. They are gluten free, casein free, soy free, dairy free, lactose free, and corn free. They have a website: www.shabtai-gourmet.com and all internet orders are shipped free, no... -
ARCHIVED Xanax Contains Gluten
darlindeb25 replied to ENF's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thank you Knightrider for all of your research, I can see you worked really hard at getting this. However, I will never trust Pfizer. They lied before, then they lied about lying...I will never use a drug from Pfizer or Greenstone again. I put my faith in them and repeatedly got ill, while they lied. I am a very trusting person, yet once someone breaks... -
ARCHIVED Miracle Whip Light Contain Gluten?
darlindeb25 replied to climbmtwhitney's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Good, I'm sure they have changed the ingredients, it did contain gluten. These companies can change ingreds anytime they want. We have to always read the label, every time we buy the product. I was using Hellman's Canola Mayo, and it was great, then I got sick with it. They had changed it, made it cholesterol free, and added soy to it. I can't have soy... -
ARCHIVED Xanax Contains Gluten
darlindeb25 replied to ENF's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
This is the truth. This is the only thing that will work for all of us. They can tell a diabetic when a med is safe for them, why not us? There really is no need for gluten in meds. -

I read about the connection of Mars and Kraft in an Associated Press announcement the other day, and I don't care if they are not one in the same...they both used the tainted milk products. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED Miracle Whip Light Contain Gluten?
darlindeb25 replied to climbmtwhitney's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Sarcasm does not become you Richard. The Associated Press says it has come to the USA. I have never believed Kraft to be as nice as you want everyone to believe they are. Kraft also will say what it wants us to hear, of course, they are not going to tell us to stop buying their product. Read the newspapers yourself, I provided the links needed, if you... -

ARCHIVED Xanax Contains Gluten
darlindeb25 replied to ENF's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Well, I called them too, the pharmicist, and yes, he said, "I am a pharmicist here, and yes, there is gluten in Xanax, and always has been!" He never said anything about trying to certify it, just said it absolutely IS NOT gluten-free." That's all I need to know. Besides the fact, I always reacted to it, and now, I have Xanax which is gluten free, and...
