ARCHIVED Another Wonderful Site All About Celiac

I found this in another forum--thank you Al! It's a good read, very long though: Open Original Shared Link -
So true Deb, if I go into a store that is playing rap music, I leave--it makes me nervous, I can't concentrate, and I become aggitated, like those rats!!!!! I love country music and find it keeps me focused. We are all different. I am a member of many spiritual forums and I have learned that music can talk to us. Angels can send us messages through...

ARCHIVED :( Lost
darlindeb25 replied to katrinamaria's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Katrina--to me it sounds like you may be constipated, which can happen with other intolerance's. When you drink the alcohol, it gives you diarrhea, which in turn, relieves the constipation. Soy, corn, and rice cause constipation with me, which I might add, is as bad as having diarrhea, pain wise. I cannot drink any alcohol, including wine. It all makes... -
ARCHIVED My Grandson Ethin............
darlindeb25 replied to darlindeb25's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I know it is not illegal to drink or smoke, yet it should be while pregnant. Babies are precious miracles and they do not get to pick their parents. They should be safe. I am not upset with her for not breastfeeding him, I never did that either, yet I may have if my child was as sick as he is. I really do not know. -
ARCHIVED My First Question.
darlindeb25 replied to Karwei5's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
As long as he is able to understand about gluten, he should be fine. He will have to know that he must be careful around burger buns and such and wash his hands often, keep them away from his face. 3 of my sons started out at Burger King, one later became the manager of a McDonalds. No shame in working there. -
ARCHIVED A Very Good Segment On Celiac Today........
darlindeb25 posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Just as I was getting ready to leave for work, my sweetie says, "Celica disease is on the news!" It was the best I have seen so far. A local doctor was telling about celiac disease, he was giving the correct info to the public, wasn't afraid to mention the stomach issues, and he even said that maybe as many as 80% of patients that come through his door... -
ARCHIVED My Grandson Ethin............
darlindeb25 replied to darlindeb25's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I know celiac disease could be a long stretch for this little guy. I just want him healthy. So many of his symptoms could be celiac related and with my sister, our dad, and me all celiac--his odds certainly increase. I have thought about what all of you said all afternoon. I know that what Richard said--it's not physically possible for someone that young... -
ARCHIVED My Grandson Ethin............
darlindeb25 replied to darlindeb25's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thank you, all of you. The spanish babies is a surprise and I might add here, my kids are part Puerto Rican too. Stef--that was also very interesting. At any rate, he could be tested for the genes, couldn't he? It's all so hard to understand, I feel so bad for him. -
ARCHIVED My Grandson Ethin............
darlindeb25 posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I was just reading Jane's thread about her friend's 6 month old baby. It prompted me to ask: Can a baby be born already ill with celiac disease? Ethin was born on Oct 27th weighing close to 8#. He was a fullterm baby, no real pregnancy complications. He was born Hemophiliac Type D, which the doctor stated happens sometimes and usually corrects itself... -
ARCHIVED Omg Did Anyone Just Watch Cn8 Program On Celiac?
darlindeb25 replied to Judyin Philly's topic in Publications & Publicity
I agree with Judy, this show should not have been broadcast. Celiac Disease is very serious and people do not need to see a DOCTOR on tv, more or less saying it's ok to cheat--IT'S NOT OK TO CHEAT. I realize many, many celiac's cheat, yet that doesn't make it ok. That is a problem they need to deal with. A person learning they have celiac disease being... -

ARCHIVED Equate Brand Medications...gluten-free?
darlindeb25 replied to hannahsue01's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Many Equate products are gluten free. If the manufacture is Perrigo in Allegan Michigan, they have stated they are a gluten free lab. I have Equate ibuprofen 200mg tablets that I know are gluten free. I also was taking their Equate 81mg Aspirin daily until I ran out and it is gluten free. Walmart will answer your questions when called too. -
ARCHIVED Elizabeth Haselbeck Said She Has Celiac!

You are right, about the commercials, anyways. With The View, it was the presentation. It was horribly done and I do not feel it was beneficial to anyone--and truthfully, just as you, I do not understand why you can't see that. It's one of those, let's just agree to disagree--kk. -
ARCHIVED Is Gluten Dangerous To All People?
darlindeb25 replied to Dev's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I tend to agree with Liz (lonewolf). I too have to wonder if gluten is good for anyone. I remember my mom often saying, "Milk is for baby calves and corn is for fattening hogs!" I can no longer have corn and as I research, I am finding corn is a problem for many as is dairy. There may be some truth in what my mom says. Cavemen didn't have gluten... -
ARCHIVED Pitfalls Of Self-diagnosis
darlindeb25 replied to JerryK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Having Celiac disease is not a choice, lifestyle or otherwise. Being on the gluten free diet is a choice, and by the definition already posted, a lifestyle one. Have a disease/condition/ailement is not a choice, but treating it is. It might be dumb not to treat it ('hey doc, I'm profusely bleeding from this gunshot wound, but don't even think of working... -
ARCHIVED Hair Growing Faster?
darlindeb25 replied to ReneCox's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Now when my son Mike was a toddler, we called him "Monkey-butt" because he climbed all over things like a monkey. Lauren: I swear that since I went gluten-free, my hair has changed texture and has become semi- CURLY! I have noticed that my hair has become semi curly too and my hair is very long and thick. I am afraid if I ever got it cut short, it... -

Well, I see it differently and that is ok too. To begin with, hard to please housewives who no matter what a person does, it is never good enough..... I am not a housewife, I work full time in the medical field--we are closed on Friday's and Sundays. I just happened to be home on the one day they chose. I have worked hard in the over 5 yrs I have been... -
ARCHIVED Elizabeth Haselbeck Said She Has Celiac!
darlindeb25 replied to TBOX's topic in Publications & Publicity
No Larry, Canadian Karen was directing her remark at me. I agree with you Larry, it was very poorly done and totally missed the mark. Yes, Celiac Disease was mentioned, yet a person out there suffering with it will get nothing from what little was said to even think it may be what is wrong with them. It was just an advertisement for beer, which was also... -

ARCHIVED Symptom: I Can't Talk
darlindeb25 replied to wwebby's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have this problem too and I do not think I have to be glutened for it to happen. Or maybe other intolerance's can cause it to happen also. I am dealing with many intolerance's now and some days I find this to be a big problem for me. I work very hard at keeping things easier for me. Everything has a place and I keep things in that place. I immediately... -
ARCHIVED Need Clarification
darlindeb25 replied to sore joints's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I agree with Richard and Tiffany. There isn't enough known yet about celiac disease. I feel it's similiar to diabetes. You can be pre-diabetic, then actually be diabetic. First you are gluten sensitive and develope into full blown celiac disease. The treatment is the same for both, either one, you must be gluten free. I think they are advancing in knowledge... -
ARCHIVED Suffolk County Fair
darlindeb25 replied to joel's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Thanks Joel. This will be a huge event for celiac disease. I am so happy to be a member of this wonderful group and also so happy this is happening just 15 miles or so from me. -
That is so true SofiEmiMom. There is so much to be said for, "If I knew then, what I know now!" Joe called me tonight and was telling me had a lung xray yesterday. He has been ill for almost a month now, under a doctor's care. He called me the other night and was very hoarse and told me this had been going on for 3 weeks, to which I reminded him, my sister...

ARCHIVED Elizabeth Haselbeck Said She Has Celiac!
darlindeb25 replied to TBOX's topic in Publications & Publicity
I'm sorry, I was disappointed in the segment. Kev and I watched it together and I feel the same as him--it was just an advertisement for beer and a undiagnosed celiac or family member would not have gotten enough from the tiny little segment to even realize what was bring talked about or that the beer was different. They spent more time slopping beer all...
