ARCHIVED Excedrin?
darlindeb25 replied to Molly73's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thank you Jukie. I do not know what I would do without my Extra Strength Excedrin!!!!! Most Tylenols are gluten-free, as is Aleve, and Advil. -
ARCHIVED Cottonelle -- Another Kimberly-clark Reply
darlindeb25 replied to lovegrov's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks Richard. And Artgirl--if it's not corn starch that Kimberly Clark uses in Scott tissue, what is it? They stated they do not use any of the glutens in the letter to me, yet they did state they use modified starch in the packages. This may be very important to a person with a problem with corn! -

ARCHIVED Does Constipation Make Anyone Really Irritable?
darlindeb25 replied to Mtndog's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Never in my life was I constipated, quite the contrary. I have been gluten-free now for over 5 yrs and it hit me this summer, now I get constipated. I know my other intolerance's cause constipation, yet I do my best to avoid those foods too. I do not get grumpy or mean when I am constipated and that's good. I just hurt and look miserable some of the... -
ARCHIVED Ok So Do I Consider Modified Food Starch Glutan Or Not?
darlindeb25 replied to Electra's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
In my honest opinion, until the new allergen law is inforced in the way it needs to be, then unless I know the source of the modified food starch, then I do not trust it. When I do not know, I do not touch and that is why I have rarely ever been glutened in over 5 yrs. -

I will put the reply here and in a separate thread--someone did request the emails be posted outside of this thread. I received an answer from Kimberly Clark today: Dear Debra, Thanks for your e-mail about SCOTT -
The migraine part I have never heard of, although, I do have migraines. As for the dizziness, I do have it. I didn't have it before going gluten-free and it's only been bad for the last several months. It started slowly. I would be hugging Kev and look up, he learned to keep his arm tight around me because when I look up, I tip backwards. As of late...

I have never found tuna that contained gluten either, except for the mixes. I do always buy tuna in water and that water as a rule is a soy-based broth and it does bother me, just as I can't use regular mayo, I have to buy canola mayo. The only tuna I have found in the local stores is Bumble Bee in the foil pouch, does not contain soy.

Exactly Michi--hehe. It's Martin Luther King Jr. Day--here in NY it's a national holiday. In Michigan, the kids go to school the same as usual. Here on Long Island, nearly everything on the calendar is celebrated, kids are off school all the time. All the Jewish Holidays are observed here, not in Michigan. I work for a doctor who doesn't observe these... -
ARCHIVED I'm So Confused
darlindeb25 replied to JerryK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
To begin with Jerry, only 2 weeks gluten free will not heal anything--if the villi are flattened, they still are. You can't heal in 2 weeks, you can feel better because you are not feeding yourself poison everyday, but healing takes longer. Don't overdo the gluten. Deb -
ARCHIVED At Last An Answer!
darlindeb25 replied to Lindsey's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
A proper diagnosis is an individual thing. I was sick for so long and the doctors never figured it out, I was thrilled to feel better and I do not need a piece of paper telling me I have celiacs. I know I do. And--if your blood test is this week, a few days of gluten-free will not matter and if the test comes back negative, yet you feel better--gluten... -

Tia--we can't blame ourselves like that. My youngest child is 24 now and she was born with no hip socket on the left side, to this day I feel so bad when I watch her walk. I think my celiacs is why she was born with a birth defect, yet I didnt know and the doctors didnt know. From what I understand--often we develope other illnesses or diseases when... -

Electra, I to have problems with eye allergies. I work for a very good optomitrist and he is always who I go to first. Sometimes it's the oak trees, sometimes it's the neighbors fireplaces (allergic to smoke), sometimes it's hormonal problems. I will tell all of you--when you do have a problem with your eyes, go to an eye doctor, not your family doctor... -

Mango--I am truly sorry, I didn't mean to make it sound like I was upset with you. Tensions run high sometimes and things do get over done, so to speak. There are just some people in this world that God uses as a test for us and sometimes I do fail that test. Truly sorry. Deb -

I honestly do not think I jumped all over Srokie. I thanked her for posting and I did say I was emailing Kimberly Clark, which I have. I wasn't mean to her in any of her threads. I too feel that she just is overloaded with what she has learned and may just be confusing some of it. I for one do not trust a company until it has passed a test with me.... -

Mango, you can make fun of us, that is your option. The discussion is more about respect than MFS. We all want to be treated with respect and we all deserve to be. The soy discussion is a perfect example. In my heart, I feel that absolutely nobody should eat soy, I feel it is dangerous, the bad far outweighs the good, yet I never push those feelings... -

I don't worry about the toilet paper as I don't eat that, gluten has to be ingested to harm the intestine. This thread is very interesting. Thank you Srokie! Viola, it's wonderful that you feel you do not have to worry about these products simply because you do not eat them. As for me, I feel differently. Things that touch me do harm me. I am very... -

Well, as usual Richard, when someone questions your behavior, you double talk. You most certainly did say, "I've checked numerous cottage cheeses over the years and NEVER found one with gluten." NEVER is the word you used, the quote is directly from your post! Just as you said, "MFS was never the problem in yogurts, it was the fact that the flavors were... -
ARCHIVED How Many Of Your Children Have Celiac?
darlindeb25 replied to Sillyyakdidi's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I have 5 kids, ages 32-24. One has been tested and was told negative, blood test only. He and 2 others (are diagnosed) and possibly another, have terrible acid reflux. My daughter is corn intolerant and probably gluten intolerant, but not believing it. My sister is a diagnosed celiac for over 5 years now and our father has been gluten free for over 2... -

darlindeb25 replied to Electra's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
To begin with, I never, ever said modified food starch is made with barley or rye, I simply stated at some point that barley and rye are not included in the list of allergens that companies must list on products and that we must always worry about that too. Barley is used as an additive in cereals. Richard, just as Fiddle-Faddle says--it is your condensending... -
