  1. Chocolatelover, you have to use special measures to be sure and the family needs to help. They need to know which foods they must be careful with. In the beginning, I still had 2 kids at home and a 3rd staying with us for a time. I labeled things, like a dish of margarine would have "mom" written on it. They knew they could use it, but they could never...
  2. My son had a doctor look at him and say, "You do not need to be tested, you do not look like a celiac!" Do we look different? I was under the impression that we look the same as other people. Do we have antenna that none of us know about? Another son was told, "It's not necessary to test you for that now!" I finally get them to agree to be tested and...
  3. What does the little one like? She can have slices of apple, my kids always loved that. There is macaroni and cheese that is gluten free, the macaroni is probably made from rice or corn. There are gluten free cookies, you just have to look harder for them, sometimes the regular grocers have them, sometimes not. Check online for gluten free toddler foods...
  4. Survey for Celiac Alliance -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I don't believe it. There is a survey about gluten-free labeling and even the people who do not have the gold standard diagnosis can participate. OK, gang, make our voice heard and fill out the survey. Open Original Shared Link If you scroll...
  5. I will never intentionally eat anything with gluten, pill or not. There would have to be years and years of proven facts behind it before I would trust it. Sorry, but that is how I feel and I am sure Ursa does too.
  6. When I used to be so sick and if I get glutened I often say my tummy feels like one big black and blue. Feels like someone is beating you up from inside. It's an ache, like a toothache that takes so long to go away. Hmmmmmmmmm I wonder if numzit would help???
  7. Jerry, I am sorry that you feel uncomfortable now. The topic was gluten withdrawal and I did offer you answers more than once, very clear and good answers. Gpf hijacked the thread with his attitude and I never attacked him, I simply asked him not to tell others it is ok to eat gluten and no matter what he says now, he did say, "what difference does a...
  8. Sally, are you gluten free? Are you taking these infusions because of vitamin deficiency from celiac disease? My sister has these done for about 2 months before going gluten free, I can't remember how long she did them, I do know that once gluten free, her iron levels improved. She still has to keep an eye on them, but she doesn't do the infusions. If...
  9. I agree with Ursa and Deb on this one. As Ursa says, I would only take it in the case of an accidental glutening. We have an autoimmune disease and there has never been a cure for autoimmune diseases. Only meds that can make you more comfortable. We must realize we will always be celiac and we will never beable to eat gluten without damages our bodies...
  10. Well Jerry, the best thing is to recognize what is happening and not let it get the best of ya. You are doing so well, keep at it--kk
  11. it is simply not possible to spend 3 weeks on vacation eating out without taking risks. We most certainly can go on a 3 week vacation and eat without taking risks. It's up to you to feed yourself. I have been gluten free for 5 1/2 years and have never been anywhere that I could not find something to eat that would not gluten me. To be honest, if I was...
  12. I do not grind my teeth either, yet I do clench them in my sleep and sometimes they will hurt for days from doing that. I know it is stress related.
  13. I'm sorry Dori, I know it can be rough. I fight with other intolerances all the time. Try to eat simple, nothing processed. I too, cannot eat beef or pork, I can eat some fish and chicken breast, only white meat--too much fat in dark meat. I can't have soy, corn, rice, nightshades, and of course, gluten. My diet is very simple, I eat the chicken, fish...
  14. gfp, you are so wrong. It is never ok to gluten yourself on purpose. Each time you are glutened causes damage and a setback. When you are accidentally glutened, that is one thing, but doing it to yourself is wrong. You are kidding yourself if you think it doesn't matter, because it does and I truly do not think you should be telling others it is ok. ...
  15. I call them "raccoon eyes" and yes, I have them, probably always will.
  16. I do not think I experienced withdrawal, I had been so sick that going gluten-free and feeling better was such a relief. I did however mourn food, yet I had been gluten-free for 5 yrs before this hit me. Also, by this time, I developed other intolerances and I was mourning more than just gluten.
  17. That's great that your mom is understanding Jerry, it doesn't always happen that way. My mom already had one child with this disease, so me saying I do too, wasn't a surprise. Yet she does question my other intolerance's only because my sister doesn't have them, which I find aggravating at times. I also have neuropathy and I am guessing she is questioning...
  18. Georgie, many people with milk allergies use soy milk, rice milk, coconut milk, etc. I am with you, I can't imagine my life without my dairy. Others will come along who can tell you how they cope without dairy, I still have it in my diet, although I have given up so much other foods. I'm sorry you feel so bad, wish I could help.
  19. Of course it could mean you have a gluten sensitivity. Eating gluten-free can't hurt you and if you feel better eating gluten-free, then you should do it. Now my mom eats gluten-free with my dad, yet when they go to Senior Dinners and the like, she eats gluten and it doesn't effect her, so I would say, you just may need to be gluten-free.
  20. Open Original Shared Link This is a great site, has otc and perscription drugs listed.
  21. Could the coldness of it be triggering the cough? I really do not think so. This is something that I have just noticed happening in the last few weeks and it's more like an allergic reaction. Scents do this to me sometimes too, especially orange scented room deodorizors or cleaners. I can actually feel my lungs freezing up, my breath becomes labored. ...
  22. i just think its so weird that we only got it AFTER going gluten free. When I talked to my doctor about my dizzy spells, he told me he feels it is part of my neuropathy, has something to do with the nerves in my neck, which does make perfect sense to me. I do have optical migraines or ocular migraines, yet I never get dizzy with those, yet optical migraines...
  23. Yeah, gpd, that was very impressive. I can't remember if I ever used the liquid immodium. I do know that when I had something I needed to do, I would take it and then I knew that the next day or that night, I would be even sicker. Yet, I never took more than 1, never.
  24. Thank you everyone. There is no doubt in my mind that it has something to do with the ice cream. It happens everytime I eat it, so I have decided to not eat it anymore. It may be the fat content, more than likely, it's the milk and sugar together. Ice cream is the only true sugar I eat, other than natural sugars in fruits and such. I never use sugar...
  25. Jodi, you can use All Purpose Gluten Free Flour for all your baking if you want too. I did and it works well, especially for cookies. Some people just prefer to try different mixes. Welcome to the forum.
