Oh, yes, I understand the office politics with all women. It's strange how we can do that to one another. That is actually what spawned my issues here. The women started gossiping about how I was favored and got privileged treatment, and so on and so forth. And what is she doing to get that? You know the lines. I keep thinking I wish I could stay...

I had always been the "office cheerleader" when it came to employee morale. And my boss and I got along very well. Last year my coworkers voted my team player of the year. But someone questioned my boss recently on our "relationship" (which I assure you there is not one), and ever snce then - about 3 months now - he has been going out of his way to be...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookies Alla Margaret
gdobson replied to NewGFMom's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Thanks! I'm going to try it. My husband says he knows that I love him when I make chocolate chip cookies - oh brother. It is impossible to get both good tase and good texture - I'll give these a try. Gina -
I hear ya'. I feel awful afterwards (from the snapping at my own kids). But it just feels so out of control at the time. I don't know how to soothe the stomachache. I just double up and wait it out. I hear some folks like pudding and other soothing treats.

That is an awesome picture! Thanks for sharing it.

ARCHIVED Frito Lay Product Contamination
gdobson replied to diapason05's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have trouble with Frito Lay products that are flavored. The BBQ Lays Stacks made both my son and me sick even though the can says Naturally Gluten Free. I have not had a problem with plain Fritos or Plain Lays Chips. -
ARCHIVED New Here And Need Some Help With Toothpaste
gdobson replied to sprink's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I believe most toothpastes are gluten free. But I know Crest is for sure. I don't know if Crest makes a kids toothpaste or not, though. -
I'm so sorry Paula. Of course, he meant well. My husband made a few silly mistakes like that too in the beginning. He even switched up my children's plates one time. I cried when I saw my son eating the sandwhich and said "what did you do!!!!" And he felt like dirt. And there was little we could do except wait through it. I hope you feel better...

ARCHIVED Insensitive Family Members
gdobson replied to cdfiance's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I am glad Alex's father stood up for her. When it comes down to it, as long as the ones that really matter are supportive and understand - the rest will come a lot easier. I have caught my mother trying to give my son food. She's diabetic and thinks it's as easy as adjusting insulin or not eating something else later. Or that he's a kid and he would... -
ARCHIVED Wheat Field With Crows By Vincent Van Gogh
gdobson replied to Ken70's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
That is the funniest thing I have seen all day. You have just altered history. Well, it's obviously true. I just read it online. It does seem reasonable. Probably should have laid off the wheat and the paints. -
ARCHIVED Wheat Field With Crows By Vincent Van Gogh
gdobson replied to Ken70's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Ken, did you read the very bottom of that article? : "Other diagnoses Van Gogh's primary complaints have also been variously attributed to syphilis and absinthe intoxication. Van Gogh clearly had Celiac's disease. He even knew it. His last painting Wheat Field with Crows is an attempt by Van Gogh to out his killer, namely wheat." Pretty interesting... -
That looks like fun - I'll try that one. Thanks!

ARCHIVED Wheat Field With Crows By Vincent Van Gogh
gdobson replied to Ken70's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Welcome and Enjoy feeling better every day. 10 years ago I used to dread getting out of bed. It was physically painful to move that much. My stomach hurt even to walk. It only took a few weeks to notice my discomfort going away along with other things I didn't know were related (hair falling out, bone pain, mouth ulcers). Good luck to you!... -
Thanks Jenny. We have Kroger here. I'll look in there. Gina

I've heard of that, but I can't find it.

ARCHIVED South Beach Diet- Want To Start A Support Thread?
gdobson replied to cyberprof's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
OK, here is my plan for the day. But I'm not real good at this, so if you guys think I'm eating too much or too little of something, I wouldn't mind your input: Breakfast: low fat cottage cheese & cucumber slices Snack: dry roasted almonds & tomatoes Lunch: Lite lunch meat, green lettuce blend Snack: same as before - sorry I like... -
Looking for a recipe for BBQ for grilling - anyone have any good ones? Gina

ARCHIVED Hives For 8 Months And Going
gdobson replied to honestlies8420's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Honestlies: I don't know if what you have is dh, but I do know that my son had that same problem. And when he went gluten-free it mostly cleared up, but not quite. And then it would come back. We would even accuse him of eating something and he would swear he hadn't. So I went back to the tried and true food diary and found a connection between his... -
ARCHIVED South Beach Diet- Want To Start A Support Thread?
gdobson replied to cyberprof's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
For those of you in Phase 1, be sure you eat plenty of the allowed carbs (beans, dairy, etc.). I ended up starting Phase 2 by adding fruit after just 10 days, because I was starting to feel kind of lousy from not having enough carbs. But that was okay, too; the point of Phase 1 is really just to get rid of cravings, and in the long run it's really just... -
ARCHIVED South Beach Diet- Want To Start A Support Thread?
gdobson replied to cyberprof's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I was a late starter for yesterday, but I had the above recipe you sent for tuna/white bean salad for dinner....yum yum yum. Today has been good, although I feel like I've eaten more than I usually would allow myself on a diet. But at least I'm not starving! I roasted some almonds for snacks and fixed up those cherry tomatoes w/ balsamic vinegar. My... -
Hey Karen, I live out here. And the grocery store list on that site is good, but those restaurants...most of them won't have a clue what you are talking about if you walk in and ask for a Gluten Free menu. Be prepared to take one in with you that you have printed off the web. I recommend just doing the ones we all know. There are several Outbacks,...
