  1. Hmm. Don't know. My derm said it starts happening to women a lot in their 30s. And said some triggers could be spicy food, alcohol, and chocolate. So color me red!
  2. I've been that way for years now. It's kind of embarassing really. I'll eat as much as my husband before I stop. Then I feel miserable. Usually I think it's just that my stomach IS full...but my mouth is not. I think I miss that chewiness that so many glutenous foods have.
  3. I have "flushing." I don't know if it is related to celiac, but my dermatologist had to prescribe a topical for it.
  4. I agree - like an hour.
  5. I blend together Ghiradelli cocoa and sugar and add to warm milk or water for smooth and safe hot cocoa. Those premade mixes have so many ingredients, they make me nervous. Kraft marshmallows are gluten-free. I don't know about soy, though.
  6. That's funny. I thought I was that had these crazy dreams. I used to have those nervous dreams all the time. And would wake up feeling sick to my stomach until I "really" woke up. I never have those dreams anymore. But I am still always afraid of getting glutened. Gluten free except for an occassional accident since 2001. Gina
  7. Pamelas Chocolate Chunk Cookies are pretty good. I like JennyOs Coconut Macaroons, but I guess most kids don't like coconut. My favorite mix is currently Gluten Free Pantry chocolate chip cookie and cake mix. Mi-del makes some animal cookies that are pretty good as well. Gina
  8. I had terrible big white ulcers in my mouth before going gluten-free. And they would not go away on their own. They only seemed to grow and throb and feel feverish in my mouth. I would have to use medicated orajel on them to numb and heal them. That did work for me, but not sure about the ingredients in it anymore.
  9. I had very good luck at Olive Garden. I had to find a place for the family to get together after our children's baptism, so I ran in and asked the manager early that day when they first opened. She came out and talked to me and knew exactly what I was needing. She went back to her desk and pulled up the latest gluten-free menu for them and brought it back...
  10. I use my crockpot a lot. It's kind of nice knowing when I get home dinner will be done. I also have a crockpot cookbook, but I don't usually do anything fancy with it. I mostly do chili, stews, BBQ, and bean soups. Good for winter type dishes. Gina
  11. Hi Writerspice and welcome. I had 2 miscarriages before going gluten free, but I managed to have 2 wonderful children - although both premature and one is celiac. I have heard of many other women who had difficulties getting pregnant before going gluten-free, and then were able to conceive after. I wish you a lot of luck, happiness, and health. ...
  12. My son had been broke out since he first started eating oatmeal cereal as a baby. It finally cleared up little by little after going gluten-free. Now I know when he has had a little something just by how smooth his face is.
  13. I also use Duncan Hines. When I called they said don't use their frostings that have coconut (german chocolate or regular coconut), whipped frostings, or buttercream.
  14. I saw it. I thought I misunderstood at first and had to turn it up. Funny. Some of them do taste like dirt.
  15. Pamelas, but I use the recipe on the bag for "ultrarich" which calls for sour cream - I use plain yogurt and turns out great (plus extra chocolate chips). MMMMMMM
  16. Call me crazy but I don't mind the Tapioca Lite Loaf. Of course, like all of them, I toast it to make it more palletable. My son takes it in school lunches and likes it as well as any - it holds up anyway.
  17. Sure - Ingredients are: Pork, fresh hams, park tenderloins, water, salt, dextrose, spice, flavoring, msg, formed in collagen casing.
  18. It's too late to call the company. Does anyone know if this sausage is gluten free? Thanks
  19. Awesome! Thanks guys. Looks like I can get her one (or more) of these without too much worry. Cute and don't cost much I have a friend who got sucked into that club penguin deal and I was afraid this would be another one of those. Now I can start my Christmas shopping!
  20. My little girl says all the girls at school have webkins and she really wants one for Christmas. So I looked at them online, and they are cheap enough, but I am afraid that once she logs on to the webkinz website to activate her password and stuff, that I will have to pay some monthly bill or something - Is anyone familiar with these toys? They are very...
  21. Hershey Bars Snickers Milky Way Dark M & Ms 3 Musketeers Dove Promises Any of those sound good?
  22. We did Disney World/Cruise last April and it was fantastic! Gluten free pizza and spaghetti for lunch...gluten free rolls at dinner. We ate at the Crystal Palace as well for one meal, and it was everyone's favorite. The chef walked us around and showed us what we could eat. No problems at all. And the Cruise was equally fabulous. You get assigned...
  23. I'm afraid the days of licking the bowl are probably over. Our mixes really don't taste that great until after baked : ). One of my favorite mixes right now is Cherrybrook Kitchen chocolate chip cookies. I add extra chocolate chips. By the way, I found that adding extra chocolate chips to all the chocolate cake and brownie mixes makes them taste a lot...
  24. Veronica: My dream vacation would be to go to Italy, so hopefully some day you can help me out with what to eat there. In the mean time, I can try to answer your questions: 1) I do not have a shopping guide, but many big food corp. have good labeling policies in place. For example, all Kraft products have gluten stated on the label if it is...
  25. It sure wouldn't hurt to get tested. I used to have a constant pain in that area that I said felt like I had rocks in my guts. It made my whole body hurt just to take a step because it jarred my guts. Now I only get that pain when I have been glutened. I hope you feel better soon. Gina
