  1. Welcome Snappy, Many of us have suffered for years due to doctors refusing to see the obvious. I had been told by 2 different doctors that there was nothing physically wrong with me, I had an eating disorder. And they tried to convince me that the reason it hurt when I ate was because I didn't want to eat. And I half believed it myself. The last 2...
  2. So I should let them work it out between themselves unless they become disrespectful or abusive towards eachother - then I can punish them with something that will get their mean energy out of them (like scrubbing the bathroom). I like that. I think that can appeal to both me and my husband. Thanks for the assurance that my kids aren't just cantancerous...
  3. An obedience school told me to try this with a lab I used to have and it worked great. When we got a new puppy (Welsch Terrier) a few years back, we started him this way, and it worked great- Get a bell and tie it to the door know of whichever door you want him to use to go out. Make sure it is on a string low enough that he can reach it himself. Then...
  4. Thanks Sarah, I was feeling very depressed this morning about this (not supposed to waste a Friday being down). You have made me feel much better. I just hate the thought that I am ruining my kids in the process by either doing the wrong thing or doing nothing. Thanks again. Gina
  5. I have tried everything! My son (10) and daughter (8) argue constantly. Yes my little girl is a typical pesty little sister. And yes, my son, gets an attitude and talks rude to her and ignores her. But they just won't stop! Everything is a competition or grounds for an argument. I have tried separating them, brother/sister togetherness, positive...
  6. I know a lot of folks have mentioned PF Changs, but I wanted to also say that we took the whole family there last Saturday and it was great! They had gluten-free menus inside (we didn't need to take our own), and as soon as we said we wanted gluten-free food for the whole table, our waiter (Scott) began making gluten-free suggestions. Finally, a place where...
  7. Dandelion, Sorry, I only know of the green ones from the Celiac Center for Research. But if you find out, could you let me know? Thanks. Gina
  8. I am so sorry, Collette. You've been waiting so long for a definitive answer. I guess the only thing you really can do is keep calling back to reschedule. That's pretty rotten. Gina
  9. Thanks for your help. I had called Kraft, and for the first time, they were not helpful. They said they couldn't tell me anything or even tell me the ingredients in the product - they said go get some and read the label! Geez
  10. My son wants Capri Sun for his soccer game tomorrow. I don't have the product in front of me, and all the info I find is pretty outdated. Can anyone tell me that they know for sure that Capri Sun is or is NOT gluten free? And what flavors are or are not? Thanks a bunch for any help! Gina
  11. That is the coolest! I wish I had known sooner. I'm sure I could have done something for my son's school.
  12. We avoid the deli meat slicer issue by just buying the whole thing still packaged up. They always laugh at us, and ask us if we are sure. We just slice it at home. Yum Yum
  13. Hey Goldylox, One of the first things we see on our son when he has been glutened is the dark circles under his eyes. In regards to the DQ, I am not brave enough to try the blizzards. I know they list them on their gluten-free menu, but I don't trust the folks that work there to understand the importance of not cross contaminating. We stick to the...
  14. Oh my gosh that is all so very confusing. I don't know if any of my suggestions will help, but here is what we do for school lunches: My son (10) current favorite bread is Energ Tapioca Lite. When you FIRST open it, it seems a lot like regular bread (from what I can remember ). After that, we have to go with toasting it to hold up in lunches, but...
  15. Cherrybrook Kitchen has a way delicious sugar cookie mix that is dairy free and gluten free. It has been my favorite sugar cookie so far. We made Christmas cut outs with it last year.
  16. I noticed a difference in myself in less than 2 weeks - bone pain went away and the pain of getting out of bed stopped. But it took months and months I'ld say like 10 to start feeling great. But I didn't know how bad I really felt, until I started feeling better. But while you are healing, you are still very sensitive to even non-gluten containing things...
  17. Thanks guys! I really appreciate your help. I finally got a school that is willing to work with me, and I didn't want to let them down right from the start. Thanks again! Gina
  18. Thanks, Patti - One down.
  19. My children just changed schools and the new school has been very supportive and interested in learning what they need to do for my son regarding celiac disease, but they asked me if I could get gluten-free recipes for paper mache' and playdough for the art teacher to use. Anyone have recipes for either of these? Thanks for any help. Gina
  20. I love pumpkin! I will definitely try this. Thanks! Gina
  21. We use Health Valley rice bran crackers. They are a decent substitute for graham crackers, and easy to find in the store.
  22. I hear what you're saying about Kinnikinnick donuts. But I eat them anyway to fill that void However, I tried some killer...most suspiciously real tasting donuts (donut holes actually) from celiacspecialties.com. I had blueberry, chocolate, glazed, powerdered sugar...I'm dying. They had the texture of what I remember real donuts being.
  23. Hi Jenny, My son and I both had reactions to the BBQ Lays Stax. Now we don't eat any of them. We do still eat the plain Lays in the bag without a problem, though. Gina
  24. I get sick about an hour after being glutened. And don't feel completely better for about 2 weeks. When I first went gluten free, I felt a little brighter and better every single morning I woke up. It was amazing. I never knew I felt so bad, until I started feeling better. Gina
  25. Jessi, I am so sorry for all the issues you have had to struggle with. My husband used to be skeptical. Then he saw the change in me after being gluten free...and then he saw the changes every time I had been glutened since then. He is actually more careful than I am..."are you sure you should eat that" and "did you double check the label." Maybe in...
