  1. Happy Birthday love2 Happy St Patrick's day everyone IH it sounds like you are having a ball, fantastic. So, I have confirmed that soy is not my friend. Tried gluten-free soy sauce last week and had bad tum. Tried a handful of fresh soy beans last night. I got got. Rashes on face, sore throat then cramps, bloating and exhaustion this morning...
  2. Sounds like you did just the right thing. It is so important to keep socializing, and each of us has a new dilemma every time we have a new event. I am getting better at it. And I think most of that is down to my response, and most of that I credit to reading about how people on this board handle things, so I treasure posts like yours to get new ideas....
  3. Oooo, that looks interesting! I'd love to know how you get on with it
  4. Brilliant news, well done Thanks for inspiring those of us new to the journey
  5. Mmmm spinach. Good luck with that one SIW. I have just got back into it and like throwing a handful in at the end of a stirfry to make a kind of sauce. Addy, I think you must get a persistence award on the vegetable front
  6. Sorry you are going through this. I hope you get news on the surgery soon. I remember reading somewhere that celiacs can respond differently to meds, something to do with absorbtion. Maybe someone here might have some information or guidance. Some days I wish all you guys lived around the corner so we could help each other out and pop by for coffee. Hugs...
  7. Smart Doctor. I am a fan of the mixed metaphor. I especially like to get hold of wrong end of the stick and proceed to beat about the bush with it. Luckily you doc doesn't. Good luck with healing (not sure if I can squeeze a reunification reference in here) Mw
  8. Poor man's baked potato (microwave) scrambled egg, avocado. Bright sunshine and sleet here today. This time last year it was warm enough to be on the beach. Spring now please
  9. They are fantastic Addy Had chicken and rice, with zucchini and mushrooms. Just spent an exciting evening building Ikea furniture. I'm on a sorting kick. Those years of brain fog did my organization and filing no favors, so I have a long way to catch up....
  10. Hmmm. Looks like that gluten-free soy sauce is a no. Not too bad, but not worth it. Thinking something with turkey for dinner. Something plain
  11. Your little fella sounds adorable, how wonderful to have him in your lives
  12. Hi all My son is much improved, back to school today. Those steroids do the job. Still a bit nervous though, as his symptoms are so sublte, goes a bit pale and doesn't join in quite as much. No mighty wheeze, no cough. Called the Asthma Uk helpline, where they have excellent nurses, and a bit reassured. It was mother's day in the UK yesterday, and I...
  13. Yes, and we will do our best to help out! Do you know how many weeks you are so far? My favorites for filling up are sweet potatoes, rice and rice pasta. Or how about baked potatoes? Potato chips in an emergency?? Bananas. Do you have eggs? A stash of hard boiled ones is useful if so.
  14. Woohoo, congratulations! This is the best news. Look after yourself x
  15. julandjo This is very good advice. But more importantly right now CONGRATULATIONS!! That is amazing not to mention miraculous news. The very best of luck and best of health to you and little one for a safe and happy pregnancy and delivery.
  16. Son much improved this morning, thank heavens for steroids. I am still a bit wobbly, we haven'thad to get extra help for about 18 months, since we moved from the city to the coast, so it was a bit of a shock. Easy day for everyone I think
  17. Not very hungry this evening. Son, 6, has an asthma flare. we had about 18 months doing ok, but nebulizer and steroids today Hopefully on the men. Blew my gluten-free soy sauce reintroduction, system, ahem, cleared through. Fingers crossed he is through the worst.
  18. Brilliant news While the NHS has its problems, sometimes it comes up trumps. Great you will be getting some decent support. Mw PS Gemini, it is pretty cool here sometimes , and it looks like you pop by every now and again..
  19. I have taken to frying or poaching an egg to pop on top of a salad
  20. I am trailblazing right with you, got my NCGI diagnosis in January after negative gene tests. Didn't test for 9. So, looks like we will be first in the queue when the new tests for the celiac spectrum come out Edited to add there is no test yet, but maybe one day (sigh)
  21. We already have it in the UK I still can't make my mind up if it is better than nothing. I do think any gluten-free food should have to state that some people may react to small amounts of gluten, wwhether 20ppm or cc or shared lines. All we want is info. I have only needed reading glasses since scrutinizing labels! So many people seem to get caught out...
  22. Similar experience here. I got the directory, which is good, but discovered I needed a whole food diet anyway so eating naturally gluten-free. I like the magazine for research info. I agree they need an accessible forum. The helpline was useful at the start. I do find them to be accepting of some things I have found different advice on elsewhere, I struggle...
  23. I have been doing a similar diet since January and haven't been glutened in that time. I am wondering where I was getting my cc previously. I am reintroducing foods now, so I guess I will find out eventually. I agree it is great that Dr Fasano is looking at this area, he is such a great advocate
  24. IH Wooooooohoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Go buddy go. Happy rebirthday Mw x
  25. I don't blame you, my challenge was horrible. Good luck with the gluten-free diet
