Hello everyone! My sister is obsessed with pink - to the point that whenever I see anything pink (even if it's completely unrelated to anything she would like) I would think of her and want to buy it. All our friends and family would agree with me and do the same. Pink insanity! Anyway...! So this week is her bridal shower with her friends (as opposed...

Thank you so much - I think you answered it clearly! I am glad that someone could respond. -
ARCHIVED Bloating From Fatty Food?
lorka150 replied to holdthegluten's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Assuming all the foods were safe (the burger), then it's probably a normal reaction to the saturated, unhealthy fats. You probably weren't aware of this before hand because your body wasn't as clean as it is now. You'll notice new 'reactions' because you have rid yourself of the poison (gluten), and now you eat other foods that aren't good for you, and just... -
I use Almond Breeze and tofu to replace the cream and milk in all recipes - it works perfectly.

ARCHIVED Yeast Overgrowth Vs. 'systematic Candida'
lorka150 posted a topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I read somewhere on the forum that candida overgrowth and systematic candida are different - or there are different types. The internet googling led me to a lot of 'product' websites, so I am unsure of what is what. Can someone clear up the differences for me, please? Thanks! -
ARCHIVED Mainstream Gluten-free Suntan Lotion
lorka150 replied to oceangirl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Banana Boat, and I think Coppertone. I know Hawaiian Tropic isn't (this is all based on last year's info, but I doubt it's changed). -
Thanks for the reply. Can you eat tofu? I only eat Mori-Nu in the asceptic packaging. The almond breeze I only use in my coffee - so just a splash. Soymilk gives me a really bad stomachache - all brands. But I could buy unsweetened Almond Breeze in that case. I don't use the milk in the cereal - I make tofu pudding and mix it - it's my favourite snack...

I know this isn't definitely celiac related, but I thought more people would see it if I put it in here instead of related disorders. I think I might have Candida, and I'm going to see a naturopath in a few weeks but frankly, I am willing to do anything to feel better. After reading a lot of sites and so on, it seems like it could easily be my issue...

ARCHIVED Peaches- I Have Hundreds!
lorka150 replied to GeoffCJ's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Slice them, then put them on a baking sheet and freeze them, and then throw them in freezer safe bags. This keeps them seperated, and then you can enjoy them all winter long! What about canning, too? -
ARCHIVED Multiple Sclerosis And Celiac
lorka150 replied to sillyyak's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Three members of my immediate family have MS - I've been tested many times, and the most recent MRIs and Evoked Potentials tests ruled it out once more, and I've been diagnosed with Peripheral Neuropathy due to celiac disease. If you have specific questions, please let me know. One of the members (my mom) is doing gluten and casein free, but hasn't... -
ARCHIVED Can Someone Please Calm My Mind?
lorka150 replied to lorka150's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks Colleen I am eating both types of fibre, but I do know that it shouldn't help/hinder too much. Because of all of my restrictions, I've eaten the same things for about a year now - once in a great while I sample something new. Today is an okay day so far, so my fingers are crossed. I am looking for atleast four or five in a row. Thanks! -
ARCHIVED Can Someone Please Calm My Mind?
lorka150 replied to lorka150's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks for the reply. It has gotten better since the very beginning though, so I am not sure if surgery would be required. I have seen so many doctors, I cannot imagine that one of them might not suggest that. It was hell for about a month, and now, it's itchy / burning here and there. I would assume it's getting better? I am just frustrated. -

thanks for the message i'm much past both of those remedies! just prayers now, maybe. -
Here is the short story. Two and a bit months ago, I had strep throat. The combo of the antibiotics + codeine gave me constipation and a yeast infection. For two months, i've been to many doctors. First, I've had hemorrhoids, then a yeast overgrowth in both anus and vagina, then something else, then hemorrhoids again, and on a million different treatments...

ARCHIVED Guitar/chord Question
lorka150 replied to BRUMI1968's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Soon you will get lovely calluses! When I was first learning the guitar, I ALWAYS played the same three songs over and over and over because they were my favourite to learn: One by U2, Everybody Hurts by REM and High and Dry by Radiohead. So much fun! Have a blast. -
ARCHIVED Guitar/chord Question
lorka150 replied to BRUMI1968's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
oops. i thought she meant 'a major 7th chord' in general, not "A" major. -
ARCHIVED Guitar/chord Question
lorka150 replied to BRUMI1968's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
seventh chords always resolve to the tonic. they have the leading tone (the 7th note of the scale) and it always feels like it has to 'finish'. -
ARCHIVED Hey Canadians! I Made Nanaimo Bars!
lorka150 replied to EVERYBODY'SAUNTIE's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I didn't use any pre-made crackers/ cookies in my ingredients. I am allergic to rice, and didn't use coconut oil. I'm wary to post the recipe, as so many of my recipes are already circulating and I'm trying to stop posting because of my copyright and my book, sorry. But I'm sure adapting an original of sorts using your safe ingredients would be fine. -
ARCHIVED The Most Delicious Home-made Gluten Free Bread I've Ever Tasted...
lorka150 replied to mamatide's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I have no idea about your bread machine, but for mine, I use it rarely (I have a ridiculous crush (ahem: obsession) with my mixer, so it's hard to use anything else. But I use the normal method, and pull out the paddle before the second kneading, if that helps. But I do know that all breadmachines are different, so hopefully others can shed some light, too... -
